I’ve Never Been More in Love With Lady Gaga

Last night, Glee had their highly anticipated Lady Gaga episode, and I still cannot completely comprehend how amazing it was. I don’t like Lady Gaga’s music, that’s not a secret, but will I cry at a soulful duet of “Poker Face”? Of course I will, let’s not be ridiculous.  And while I may not flip my shit over “Bad Romance” like the rest of the world, I can appreciate the fact that Gaga’s got style, and Glee got all up on that style for this week’s episode.  There were costumes inspired from the pop star’s most iconic looks, including the dress she wore at the Grammys and the “Bad Romance” shoes.  Lou Eyrich, the show’s costume designer, said

“I have great respect for Lady Gaga. This episode is a tribute to her genius. The costumes are not replicas; we wanted it look like the kids made them.”

Mission accomplished, Lou Eyrich.  Did you see Rachel’s stuffed animal dress in that video?  I can totally see her stapling a dress together, just like I can totally see me doing the same thing come Halloween.

Ryan Murphy, the creator of Glee, said that Lady Gaga herself was involved in the show, and she gave her blessing to both the costumes and the performances.  And if you don’t believe Ryan Murphy, check out Gaga’s Twitter:

GLEE WAS SO AMAZING! AH!!!!

What did you guys think?  Are you on my side (which also happens to be Lady Gaga’s), or was the whole thing a bit lackluster for you?

  • l loved the costumes, and I loved their rendition of Bad Romance. The Poker Face duet was interesting because it was such a unique take on the song, but I didn’t really like it.

  • It was AWFUL you crazy people.
Since when are the words “bluffin with my muffin” part of a mother-daughter duet? It was poorly written, the plot was disjointed and just….awful.

    • I’m just glad to see them back off this mother-daughter stuff. It’s only season one and we’ve only had a couple Mercedes show, a couple Artie shows and the rest of the backup crew has shared bit time. Time to spread the love around the ensemble and make the show last a few years instead of 2-3…. Bad News Bears is the way I’d go at regionals.

    • I know, if they’d taken “bluffin with my muffin” out, that song would have been the best thing ever. Idina Menzel and Lea Michele should record a whole fucking album together. BRILLZ.

      • sigh
They both have such amazing voices, and they work SO well together, but the lyrics were kind of ridiculous.

  • So you have finally swallowed the Lady Gaga Koolaid, huh? Interesting. I did not see you mention Xtina canceling her summer tour. Also interesting. Anyway, no harm no foul. Gaga is fun mindless pop. Lie backband enjoy it. The world (and the Gulf Coast) is going to hell so let’s just enjoy whatever we can while we can.

    • Sorry for the typos. I am using this damn iPhone and it won’t cooperate with me making changes.

  • While I still enjoy Glee, I think that it was better during its initial run – before it was a runaway hit and everybody and their brother guest stars; when it focused on actually having a plot, and not how many songs by a popular artist they could fit into one episode.

    • Technically, it never said who stapled them on. All she said was “Well, my dads can’t sew, so these are just stapled on.” You can read that as her dad’s did it OR that since they couldn’t sew, she just stapled them on. Whatev.

  • Personally, I don’t like Lady Gaga at all. Her outfits are ridiculous and her songs lack passion. I just don’t get why people like her so much. With that in mind, I LOVED the Glee kids version of ‘Bad Romance’! I am now obsessed with it. I listened to the Gaga version but was NOT impressed. At least the glee club sound like they actually LIKE the song! They had fun with it but Gaga just…. sang it. No passion, no energy, no nothing. She seemed like she was just singing cuz she had to. It was weird to hear a song that made it sound like the singer didn’t even like it. So, I’m with you. I’m a total GLEEK and LOVED that episode! (Although I didn’t care much for ‘Poker Face’… it was ok.)
