April 20th is a pretty sad day for a lot of people. It’s Hitler’s birthday and the anniversary of the Columbine massacre, you know? But for everyone else who doesn’t think of one of those two things when they think of April 20th, this is their Christmas. It’s the ultimate stoner holiday. The point is simply to celebrate marijuana, just like most smokers do every day anyway.
The origins of 420 are questionable (UrbanDictionary has quite a few interesting entries), but the party is the same everywhere you go: Get blazed, eat a snack, and mellow out to chill tunes. I can’t think of anything more positive than that, can you? Didn’t think so!
Since this is a celebrity gossip blog, you know I gotta put the Hollywood spin on this post. Check out the video above that I found on YouTube. To me, this collection of ‘celebrity stoners’ is hilarious. Megan Fox, Charlize Theron, Michael Phelps, Lily Allen, Prince Harry and Mischa Barton: I’m right there with you.

Really? More dangerous?! How many pot smokers have killed someone in a car accident because they were a little stoned? How many pot smokers get high & say “let’s go create a bunch of havoc”? Not many when compared to alcohol. Alcoholism is much more prevelant and causes much more destruction to not only the user but any other person they may come in contact with while drunk. The most I’ve seen a pot smoker do is get high, eat some food and watch t.v.

The reason she ran into the back of the dumb bitch and killed her is because the woman ran into the vehicle in front of her, and surprise, surprise, the woman who actually caused it all had marijuana in her system.
Did it ever occur to you tools that the rate of people getting hurt in accidents while stoned will rise once its legal?

i have never done anything stupid or unsafe while under the influence of marijuana. i also would never get behind the wheel of a car while under the influence of marijuana. i have never had hallucinations either. not everyone who smokes is careless and wreckless. tell me why what i do is NOT okay?

I dont give a shit about 4/20. I remember that being funny in like junior high and a bit in high school- but now its sorta meaningless. How is it like christmas? its not like anyone gives/gets gifts, and im pretty sure that Christmas is the christmas for people who dont think of columbine and hitler’s birthday. just get high any day- i mean 4/20 is just like any other day you get high and eat a snack.
You need to go to a better party on 4/20.. you’re missing out.
I know of at least two people who have been in automobile accidents because they were high on pot at the time. One involved a death. But you don’t hear about it because guess what? The cops can’t confirm your high on anything at the time of an accident until they get blood tests back. Without being sure, they can’t report that someone is high because if they do and it’s not true, they’ll get sued for defamation of character. Being drunk is confirmable at the scene with a breathalyzer. So the news affiliates will hear within a short period of time if alcohol is involved but the story is old news by the time drug tests come in so it’s rarely, if ever, reported.
Personally, the whole line about no one having ever caused an accident while high on pot is a load of crap. I’ve seen the stupid things people do while high and it’s not always benign relaxation. My father had his back broken by a falling metal door because one of his co workers was so blazed on pot he didn’t properly secure the door before lifting it, then just stood there and giggled while it fell. My dad was lucky to not be paralyzed. He was out of work for over six months and the only reason he went back was he couldn’t afford to be out any longer. And guess what? The pot smoker was still working there. He’d hired a lawyer who claimed it was discrimination to fire an addict. It took too more years and an accident that disfigured a man before the company could fire this man without being sued.
So no, pot is not a ‘safe’ drug. Anything that impairs your senses and judgements is not safe. I don’t think people who smoke pot are bad people, but to sit and say it does no harm is crazy. It does impair your judgement, it does make you slow to react and over time it fries your brain cells. If you want to sit in your own home and smoke, that’s fine. It is America after all. But I wish people would stop deluding themselves when it comes to the effects pot can have on their life and the lives of the people around them.
And yeah.. I’m long winded :-p
You make some valid points, and I feel sadness for your father & his issues. However, because you have been affected so greatly by pot users, doesn’t mean that it makes pot more dangerous then alcohol. Go to a M.A.D.D meeting, then tell me pot is more devastating then alcohol. You say “If you want to sit in your own home and smoke, that’s fine.”
How about the repeat drunk drivers? No one says to them, just get drunk & stay home!! Instead, we have bars and liquor stores on every corner to enable the drunks. Absurd.

has this been proven? because the studies that have been done on marijuana and short term memory impairment say that once the person stop smoking the effects on their short term memory resolve themselves.
It’s not like I’m reciting something I read online or in a book. “Oh, well, so-and-so and so-and-so from where-the-fuck-ever said blah blah blah in their study about blah blah-dy blah.”
It’s been 8 years, and I’m sure he’d love to have his short term memory back to normal. Perhaps you could read up on those studies some more and tell me when he should expect to regain it, smartypants.

GOOD people, believe it or not! get over it! you don’t understand because your mind is closed. those with addictive personalities could very well go overboard with the stuff just like you can with beer…shopping…soooooo many things, so for you to blame someone’s mistakes on strictly weed sounds absolutely ignorant and pretty damn laughable. there are lots of us who can stay responsible, hold down good jobs and stay true to family & friends ALL THE WHILE smoking weed on the downlow. and when it comes to negative side effects, just look at the laundry lists of health hazards attached to PRESCRIPTION MEDS. i rest my case.
