50 Cent is Having a Hard Time Finding Work

And not because the height of his rap career was in the early 00’s, either.

The rapper/actor claims that he’s having a hard time in Hollywood securing the jobs that he wants because of his myriad tattoos. He’s gone as far as to having some of them removed. His aim is to remove all of his arm tattoos (which is a lot), but claims that he’s going to keep the ones on his back.

I think that’s a pretty big-boy move. I’ve got a few tattoos, myself, and I’m definitely a proponent of being content with my body art and putting thumb-to-nose over people who judge me by them, but then again, I work from home. I don’t have to worry about being passed over for jobs because some of my tattoos are visible.

What do you guys think, is 50 selling out to The Man or is he becoming a forward-thinking man that’s got his eye on the prize?

  • I really think the tattoos is just a shitty excuse they’re giving him. It’s Hollywood: they can hide them with make up, they can remove them with Photoshop, or they can simply hide them under clothes, or justify them somehow in the plot. Look at Matthew Fox in Lost: he plays a doctor, he has tattoos, no one cares and just in case someone did they did a whole episode explaining why he had them.

He’s going to find himself as jobless as he is now, and with those memories erased from his skin.

  • 50 Cent could get a gig in Hollywood if he was talented- but he’s not. Tattoos can be a barrier to certain jobs, but they can always be hidden. I have a huge chestpiece, but I just got a new, high paying job at a country club. Bosses ultimately look at your performance, if a person is dedicated and intelligent, they will be valued.

  • Isn’t Mr. 50 a rapper?
I thought it was a job requirement for rappers to have silly tattoos and scars. Can someone explain to me? Is he a dramatic actor now?
I know some people here expressed their fondness for their own tattoos, but to me it will always be kinda attention grabbing pathetic, and worse – permanent.
