Jon Voight and Angelia Jolie recently reconciled after years of not speaking, and you’d think that Jon would have learned a thing or two about keeping his mouth shut over the years, but luckily he didn’t. Luckily for us, I mean. I’m sure it’s a living hell for Angelina to have a father like this.
The actor went to Radar Online to discuss his reunion with Angelina and while he’s not exactly a pro like Michael Lohan when it comes to ruining his daughter’s life, the guy’s not bad. Here are some choice quotes:
“It was just wonderful to spend time with Angelina and Brad and the children. I’ve been waiting so long to hug my grandchildren and it was amazing, they are the most beautiful, loving kids you could imagine and I’m not just saying that because I’m their grandfather, they really are something special.”
“Angelina and Brad are so happy together and they are the most amazing, loving parents I’ve ever seen. It truly moved me to see how Angie is as a mom, I am so proud of her – she has so much love to give and to share with the children and with Brad.”
“Angie and I have been in contact on the phone and by email for some time now. We’ve been working towards a full reconciliation for a while. Angie had to feel it was the right time to bring me into the lives of her and the kids and after some work she decided the moment had arrived.”
You see, it’s not that anything he said was bad, it’s just that he’s saying it at all. He paints his daughter, her man and their children in a wonderful light but, uh… STFU, Jon! Either this guy doesn’t actually care about having a relationship with his daughter or he’s completely insane. Either way, how sad for Angelina that this is her father.
He was probably hounded by the press for a statement; everyone and their brother knew he was in Italy with Angelina. And, I doubt he called the paps to photograph the outing like Michael Lohan would have. There’s no need– the paps are guaranteed to follow Angelina.
I don’t know Angelina, and I never will. But I am media savvy enough to know she plays everyone like a well tuned, and very expensive violin. She has carefully created an angelic media persona that tends to overlook her personal shortcomings. She probably fucked Brad away from Jennifer, she definitely frenched her brother (that actually turns my stomach), and I’m sure there is many other dubious acts that she has buried very well. Actually, I don’t dislike her. I’m amazed she can come out of everything smelling like Summer’s Eve. Props to her. She has a lot to teach everyone, me included.
Beet, I had so many grammar errors in this post that it makes me cringe. Is there any way, in all of your brilliance, that you can write some program that allows people to edit their posts? Because, you know, I suck at typing AND spelling and I don’t see many of my mistakes until AFTER I post. Please help a disabled girl out…
spell check doesn’t come with your explorer? maybe download mozilla firefox if you haven’t already, i have and every word i spell incorrectly, almost anywhere i can type on the internet, is marked with a red underline.
I use Chrome, it spell checks everything before you write it :-)

I know Beet didn’t write the post. But, Beet owns the site (at least I think she does, not sure how the the whole Real Media thing works) AND she is a qualified programmer. She wrote programs before she ever wrote a blog.
So, I was hoping she could write a little program to help people like me who suck at first draft grammar, punctuation, and spelling. I’m probably slow, but I need to review things several times prior to publishing. Hell, I have my staff review my work at work. It’s still my words, thoughts, and brilliance (I hope you can laugh along with me here) but just a much more cleaned up version!
lisa, you have no idea what you’re talking about. i don’t know how you can judge someone so harshly. angelina didn’t create any angelic media persona. what personal shortcomings are you referring to? i don’t think there are any celebrities who would actually go to wartorn, landmined, DANGEROUS countries and sleep on the ground simply to CREATE a media persona. Secondly, she already HAD a media persona and it was hardly angelic. I don’t know why you think she probably fucked brad away from jennifer, that’s a really nasty way to think of another woman, but it doesn’t surprise me because women tend to be nasty to one another. god forbid he actually ended his relationship FIRST, that’s not plausible at all. she must be a slutty homewrecker! lastly, she never frenched her brother, their lips were tightly CLOSED.

I get what you’re saying about JV & his public statements, but I like this one. He just sounds like he’s been away from his daughter for far too long and is happy/ecstatic/optimistic about it. I’m sure Lisa was right that people were hounding and hounding him to say something, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this.
However, I would not be surprise if he says something completely out of line in the next month or so. For now, though, I’m gonna go with ‘proud papa/grandpa’.
Agreed. There’s plenty of time for him to make a horse’s ass out of himself … I’d rather say, “Look, Jon Voight’s finally come around and is treating his daughter and grandchildren with love and respect” than just hate on him like a knee-jerk reaction.
I saw John Voight at the Pirates of the Caribbean 2 red carpet, and he talked and laughed with the fans and he seemed like a really nice guy : ) unlike a lot of celebrities who just walked by with their noses turned up at us…

I can completely understand the gossip surrounding this. JV implied some crazy hurtful shit about Angelina in the past, but the bottom line is he is her father. I applaud her for working on the relationship and bringing him into her life when she was ready. I’m sure, as Molls implied, it sucks for her to deal with him, but the reality is he is not going to magically become a different person. I’m sure she is making what she feels is the best decision for her family, even if he is a terribly flawed person. Just like me.

News flash Molls…your post has to actually match or back up your headline. I can’t find a thing wrong with the statement, and it sounds in no way, shape or form like the insanity that barfs out of Michael Lohan’s noise-hole when it comes to his daughter. Back when Jon Voight made remarks to the press about his daughter’s mental state, she was wearing Billy Bob Thornton’s blood in a glass vial around her neck and accepting awards by gushing about being in love with her brother, so his statement about concern for her mental welfare was somewhat appropriate. But it’s nice to see that today you have a hard-on for Brangelina when you’ve been totally hating on them (and their toddlers) lately. I think someone needs to up your meds.
It’s not clear? If your media shy daughter with whom you have a very, very rocky past (especially when it comes to running your mouth to the press) finally decides to open up and let you back into her life and the lives of her children, one of the last things you should be doing is running your mouth to the press about it.
And if acting out with vials of blood and skeezy Billy Bob was her way of figuring out herself, then she should be allowed to. Plenty of people have made way worse decisions in their rebellious phases. Last I checked, she didn’t actually hurt anyone or do anything she shouldn’t, and the implication that she did is very hurtful. Especially if it came from her father.

OMFG. I’ve kept my mouth shut up until now, even though it has bothered the crap out of me, but, the ads are now showing over the fricken TEXT! Not just plastered all over the photos, but now also on the writing! Halfway reading a frkn ad popped up in the middle of the of the quote part and didn’t even have a fricken cross to click to close it!!! Had to refresh!! ARGH!
