John Mayer Blows My Mind Every Single Day

John Mayer cannot even be serious right now. I already posted a snippet from his Playboy interview in Quotables today, but you guys: I had no idea how real this shit gets. John Mayer says some mad racist-sounding stuff in this interview. And he talks about fucking people again.

Here are some more soundbites for you to try and digest:

PLAYBOY: If you didn’t know you, would you think you’re a douche bag?

MAYER: It depends on what I picked up. My two biggest hits are “Your Body Is a Wonderland” and “Daughters.” If you think those songs are pandering, then you’ll think I’m a douche bag. It’s like I come on very strong. I am a very…I’m just very. V-E-R-Y. And if you can’t handle very, then I’m a douche bag. But I think the world needs a little very. That’s why black people love me.

PLAYBOY: Because you’re very?

MAYER: Someone asked me the other day, “What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?” And by the way, it’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a nigger pass. Why are you pulling a punch and calling it a hood pass if you really have a hood pass? But I said, “I can’t really have a hood pass. I’ve never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, ‘We’re full.’”

PLAYBOY: It is true; a lot of rappers love you. You recorded with Common and Kanye West, played live with Jay-Z.

MAYER: What is being black? It’s making the most of your life, not taking a single moment for granted. Taking something that’s seen as a struggle and making it work for you, or you’ll die inside. Not to say that my struggle is like the collective struggle of black America. But maybe my struggle is similar to one black dude’s.

PLAYBOY: Do black women throw themselves at you?

MAYER: I don’t think I open myself to it. My dick is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a fuckin’ David Duke cock. I’m going to start dating separately from my dick.

PLAYBOY: Let’s put some names out there. Let’s get specific.

MAYER: I always thought Holly Robinson Peete was gorgeous. Every white dude loved Hilary from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. And Kerry Washington. She’s superhot, and she’s also white-girl crazy. Kerry Washington would break your heart like a white girl. Just all of a sudden she’d be like, “Yeah, I sucked his dick. Whatever.” And you’d be like, “What? We weren’t talking about that.” That’s what “Heartbreak Warfare” is all about, when a girl uses jealousy as a tactic.

No. He. Didn’t. No he didn’t! What?! Has John Mayer been reading Vice Magazine? Is he so not-racist that he can just throw the n-word out in an interview or something?

This boy. I love his crazy ass.

  • Stand back.. Male version of crazy- cam Tila Tequila on display about to explode. But it turns out he’s just a foolish vile man, isn’t he?

  • He is a douche; a funny douche, but just because he uses the N word, doesn’t make him or the use of it racist… he’s talking about that in context to a phrase, an acceptance…please get over yourself on that one… he’s still a douchebag, you got that right!

  • I thought it was pretty funny and honest. I mean, so what he used the N word… he is preforming with guys who is it at the end of every sentence, that has got to rub off somewhere…

  • Molls, baby. The best part of this interview was when they asked if he was gay. Weird, weird, weird. By the way, John said in no uncertain terms that he wasn’t gay. Perez posted the excerpts on his site with a follow up post about Perez and John having a secret non sexual relationship. A secret non sexual relationship? Does that mean you are friends and don’t want people knowing? I wouldn’t want anyone to know if I was friends with Perez.

It gets better. Perez claims that in October 2009 he went to Mayer’s pad with 3 friends. Perez said Mayer talked exclusively with him for 5 hours. Perez said this convo was exchanged:

John: “You think I’m gay don’t you?”

    Perez: “Yes.”

    John: “I’m not.”

Perez: “Have you ever had a penis in your mouth?”

    John: “Yes.”

    Perez: “Your’e gay!”

The whole thing is just damn weird. I don’t care if Mayer is gay, but he needs to get that monkey (Perez) off of his back!!! And, Perez is such a POS for airing what was obviously a personal conversation. And, finally, experimenting with same gender sexual intercourse does not make you gay. It makes you human.

    Sorry for the long post.

      • I really don’t agree with that statement. Do you think every woman who has slept with another woman is a lesbian? And, don’t tell me it’s different between men and women.

      • I know what bisexuality means. Once again, I disagree with your statement (if you are the same person). A little experimentation does not equal bisexual or gay. It means you were curious.

Not to mention he could have very well had his OWN dick in his mouth. I swear I met a guy in college who was flexible enough to suck his own dick. It is not an urban legend– some guys really can do that!

  • Ugh. He’s such a skeez. He’s turning into Matthew Maconahey’s character in “Dazed & Confused”. Give it another 6 years and he’s going to be banging Noah Cyrus.

  • We should ban his ass, just like we did with Speidi. He is just as annoying, and a famewhore, just like Speidi and Kanye. We should just stop talking about them, maybe they’ll go away soon.

  • He’s being honest when he says that he’s not, as a general rule, sexually attracted to Black women. It doesn’t make him a racist in an of itself. I’m not generally attracted to guys with red hair Does it mean I’m a Ginger-hater?

There are plenty of other reasons to call this guy a douche bag. Like his general demeanor and tone of his comments.

On a related note, I remember a particular douche bag in college who happened to be Black. He tried to tell me that I should get over my racism and go out with him. I guess it made him feel better to think it was racism that stood between us.

    • You are an evolutionary racist!!!! Natural red heads, or gingers, are the most rare hair color in the world. And, both parents have to carry the red gene to pass it along to their kid. Plus, many scientists believe all red heads are genetically linked and directly descended from Vikings. Racist! Ginger hater!

Just kidding. As a ginger myself, I’m not attracted to male gingers (except Prince Harry!). On a personal note, I cannot stand black pubes. You do realize that like 85% of humans have black pubes? Totally sucks for me.

  • Nothing he said was racist. Most white guys aren’t interested in 99% of black women; he just went ahead and said it.

It’s interesting that this offends you when you post links to songs containing the N word that promote negative stereotypes of black people.

    • I agree with you that he was just being honest but I have to disagree about “most white guys aren’t interested in 99% of black women.” As a black woman, I have to disagree with that statement. Some white men aren’t, some are ashamed to admit it (it comes out in their drunken outbursts or in porn selection) and there are many white guys who date black women.

      • Yes, I said “most white guys aren’t interested in 99% of black women,” and John Mayer went on to mention a couple of black women who MOST white guys would love to date.

White male/black female couples are a very small minority, pardon the pun. You look at kids with black and white parents and it’s quite rare that the father is white.

      • Umm yeah, OK, but what he should have said (instead of deflecting the question in the most inappropriate way), is that black women don’t want his azz.

      • Exactly. You said it perfectly. I’m black and I would never put up with his bullshit (or fuck him). As a genreal rule, most black women have a low tolerance for bullshit or stupidity of any kind. We will slap your ass in a hot second. And most of the things he says are abrasive and ignorant. I don’t give a fuck who he’s friends with, he needs to watch what he says about black people. It just makes him come off as a psuedo-liberal, pseudo-intellectual asshole who really doesn’t understand or care about black people. If he did, he wouldn’t have made such a stupid comment just to be funny. If I had one of my white friends say that shit to me, I would never talk to them again. I never use the N-word and no one in my family does and my friends don’t either. Please, let’s not assume all black people use the word or are comfortable with it. Some aren’t. Some aren’t cool with ignorance and hateful words. He needs to shut the fuck up with his diseased dick. No black woman wants his ass anyway, and no one cares if he has a big dick. He’s still a huge douche and I don’t know many people who would overlook that just for a pretty good fuck.

      • “As a genreal rule, most black women have a low tolerance for bullshit or stupidity of any kind.”

A very general rule I disagree with. I’d have to say that black women, in general, put up with far too much bullshit from men.

“Please, let’s not assume all black people use the word or are comfortable with it. Some aren’t.”

Too true, many aren’t, and it needs to be said more.

      • I love it that Grace Jones NOW decides to use the “most black women” slant when the other day she was running away from traditional southern food because she’s too high brow for it.

  • he’s trying to pull off the Chelsea Handler!

Chelsea can say anything about blacks, asians, mexicans, gays and little people, they’re always gonna love her.. because you KNOW she’s not racist, she’s just being ironic! I think he wants to be in the same position!

    • I understand where you’re coming from. I’m considering doing the same. He’s coming to Austin in a couple weeks and I was thinking about going to his concert. After this interview though, I don’t know… If I go, it will be to see Michael Franti and Spearhead–not his dumb-ass.

Even if he’s not racist, he’s clearly ignorant, and doesn’t even see how offensive he is. That portion of the interview makes me very uncomfortable.

  • I’m also a black woman and I didn’t find his statement to be racist. I think most folks took it out of context. He was actually arguing against using the word “hood pass” stating that it is just as bad as using the n word but him actually saying the n word is what set most people off. He should have never said the actual word.

In regards to him not YET dating black women, it is his prerogative. Other races claim all the time that they won’t date outside of their race including some African Americans who pledge by it. Are they also racist?

Also in response to the folks above, you would be surprised by how many white men you see dating black/other minorities. Just because you don’t see it where you live doesn’t mean it is very uncommon. The stereotype of black men with white women is just overplayed way more than the white men with black women.

  • @Dan the Man- It is a generalization. I guess the black women you have met obviously don’t fall into this group. I know plenty of black women who DO put up with guys’ bullshit, but I know just as many or more that do NOT. I’m in the latter group FYI but it took me many bad choices in men to finally get my shit together and not put up with anything less than what I deserve.

    • Well said, Grace. Also, women of all colors, races, ethnicity, cultures, and religions have been known to put up with asshole men. Elizabeth Edwards comes to mind…

  • “Most white guys aren’t interested in 99% of black women; he just went ahead and said it.”

is this an American thing? I live in Europe, I’m a black girl and have dated men from all races. Mixed race couples aren’t that unusual this side of the pond either…just curious.
