I haven’t been too diligent about watching Idol this season, so I’m not sure how obvious it is to the viewers at home, but apparently Simon is no longer speaking to guest judge Ellen DeGeneres. The spat started when Ellen got fed up waiting for Simon on set and escalated from there. Last week, the two agreed that they no longer need to talk, just get the work done and move on. From Radar:

“There’s two camps on the show this season,” said an Idol insider. “It’s a lot more tense than previous seasons. It seems as if Ellen has decided to try to take control since Simon is on his way out and that’s created problems.”

Assuming this is all true, it’s pretty whack of Ellen to agree to do a guest spot on a show and act like a diva. I’ve heard from people who have worked on her show, Ellen, that she is a control freak, but rightfully so because it’s her own talk show. Idol. on the other hand, is not her show and if it’s anyone’s, it’s Simon’s. Just because he’s on the way out the door doesn’t mean they’re looking for Ellen to step in to the role of the set jerk.

Ellen is NOT a guest judge, she is a new but permanent judge, so while this is Simon’s last season judging on his way out, this is Ellen’s first in what is to be assumed will be a lot of American Idol seasons to come … so the facts on this posting are wack and your judgement of Ellen as a ‘diva’ is completely off the mark.

  2. Chuck says:

Who cares about Ellen on American Idol.

She is no more knowledgeable about musical talent than any of us. For her to have a diva attitude with Simon just displays what a troll she is.

  3. skeelo says:

As aforementioned, Ellen is not a guest judge on American Idol. She the new perma- judge.
Nothing is obvious to viewers at home re: Ellen and Simon. Ellen’s time on Idol hasn’t started airing; the Radar article explicitly mentions this.
Does taking a new job come with a requirement to get along with all of your co-workers?
Simon’s not Ellen’s boss, though he’s probably close in his level of influence on the show. Then again, he’s in (highly paid) lame duck status.

“Does taking a new job come with a requirement to get along with all of your co-workers?”

Only if you want to keep it.

      • skeelo says:

Ha ha. I should have said “every one” instead of “all” in an effort to be arguably less vague.
Damn paid job cut into the time and energies I could have used to craft a more refined response. My bad.

      • Katie says:

Haha, those pesky paid jobs! …speaking of, I have to go to mine…have a good one!

    • Molls says:

You definitely have to put up with new co-workers, that’s just the facts. Doesn’t matter if you want to drink margaritas with them when your day is done or not. Put on a smile and be amicable or you’re bringing the team down.

Now she’s blowing her ‘host’ likeability factor like LENO, Letterman and Conan.

Really never understood all this Ellen worship. For a comedian she is just so unfunny.

Ellen makes like she’s no nice – but if you watch her show it’s always about Ellen. While get likes to make her guests comfortable – she never allows them to get any more attention than her. Wait ’til you see how she will do the same with the Idol contestants. You were OK – but let me talk about myself for thirty seconds. Blah Blah Blah.

If the future strategy of Idol is less Simon – more Ellen – I think the show will be off the air in three to four years.

    Molls,

As a gossip writer, I think you should get your facts straight first prior to posting an article.

Ellen is not a guest judge. This is her 2nd job. With that being said, she had to rearrange her schedule to be able to do Idol as well. So wouldn’t you be pissed if you rearranged your schedule and then had to wait an hour and a half for your coworker to show up? Granted, it’s Simon’s last season, but there’s no reason for him to be a jerk like that. The world doesn’t revolve around just him.

    • Jamie says:

You took the words out of my mouth, Michelle. Molls has a problem with fact checking her stories before posting anything. The whole Simon being late thing happened a little while back….where were you Molls? Oh yah, thats right busy with your head up your ass typing the “truth” as your ass sees fit.

“As a gossip writer, I think you should get your facts straight first prior to posting an article.” That’s the funnest thing in the history of the Internet.

  8. Gail says:

Nothing is apparent to anyone as she has not aired yet.

    • Anonymous says:

      finally! thanks Gail.

I’ve started coming back here to the site but I have to say, geez Beet, it would be much better, if you were writing here once in a while.

  9. Antonio says:

Whoa, that is crazy. Personally I like Simon, I think this year, is his funniest year by far.

    WTF is up with Ellen?

  10. jcmtz says:

How Ellen Delesbianus and music are mutually inclusive, is beyond me. She is just annoying.

  11. melissa says:

what if simon is just being an ass (shocker, i know!) and ellen is simply calling him on it?

  12. Mabby says:

Ellen looks really hot in this pic

  13. perdidico says:

Ellen looks like a kling-on in every picture with Portia.. no wonder Portia is getting out of this relationship.. maybe she is going to convert to au-naturelle..

    lets hope so..
