Today's Evil Beet Gossip

We Know That One Person Won’t Be at George Clooney’s Telethon For Haiti on Friday

PopEater reported today that Kanye West was banned from George Clooney’s big celebrity telethon, but that turned out to be a rumor. Kanye was in fact invited, according to MTV reps, he just didn’t respond. Oh. That’s fine. I’m sure he’s got t-shirts to wear and sunglasses to take on and off but to mostly keep on. So that’s one person for sure we know is not going. Who is going to be there?

George Clooney organized the event and personally donated 1 million dollars of his own money. According to USWeekly, you can also tune in to see the following:

President Bill Clinton, Brad Pitt, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Clint Eastwood, Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Jon Stewart, Will Smith with Muhammad Ali, Robert Pattinson, Tom Hanks and more.

Among the performers: Madonna, Beyonce, Wyclef Jean, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira, Sting, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Sheryl Crow, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Coldplay, Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z and Rihanna.

You will not be able to miss this thing if you have a television. It’s going to be airing on all of the major networks and several cable stations, including MTV, E!, Comedy Central and Bravo! You’ll also be able to tune in online for free when it’s airing or purchase the recording of the telethon in iTunes after the fact.

Oh, and if you can’t remember why Kanye’s involvement in the telethon was questionable, check out this from the celebrity telethon they had to benefit New Orleans a few years ago:

NEVER FORGET.

  • If every big hollywood/music star donated $5 million of their own money no telethon would be necessary. I smell celebrity grandstanding. Oprah herself should just buy Haiti.

  • I’m GLAD this a$$wipe won’t be giving of his image and time! He has horrible manners and dellusionally thinks people care about everything he has to say.

  • Let’s see…. Oprah, Simon Cowell, P. Diddy and Jay-z are BILLIONAIRES and we need a telethon WHY? Donate your own money!!! I already texted 10 bucks.

Watch all these assholes make appearances on the telethon in Armani and BLING.

  • i hope this does some good. clooney is a class act.

but you couldn’t pay me to watch President Bill Clinton, Brad Pitt, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Will Smith with Muhammad Ali, Robert Pattinson, Tom Hanks, Beyonce, Wyclef Jean, Shakira, Sting, Dave Matthews, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Coldplay, Jay-Z and Rihanna.

especially jay z and rihanna and beyonce and denzel and ben stiller, wyclef and sting.

    get some talent up instead!

    • Dude…it’s not always about “talent” and “entertainment.” wyclef co-planned the even with clooney because he’s from haiti and has been sponsoring charities and schools there for years. in fact, a school he built for young musicians was destroyed and EVERY student and teacher died. He’s doing a lot to help, and the other celebs are at least trying, so maybe let’s not be picky and just focus on the cause?

  • BEST TELETHON PLEA FOR DONATIONS EVA!!!

How could Mike Myers keep a straight face? A couple of times he did give Kayne strange looks like WHAT?

  • wait! it’s a brilliant marketing strategy! it’s blackmail: donate money and we won’t subject you to: jay z and rihanna and beyonce and denzel and ben stiller, wyclef and sting. bingo! everybody wins, including haiti.

  • If I come back as a slab of concrete, I hope that I fall on Kanye West and get to listen to his incessant whining and dying gasps.

  • I’m from the Caribbean and I’m all for helping Haiti as well as conducting this program to raise money for it.

That being said, why didn’t Clooney and all of these people conduct a telethon back when the country (USA) was in the shitter, people were loosing their jobs and homes and such, in order to raise money so that these people could have food, homes, etc?

Like I said, I’m all for helping others but I just think that with the US, they’re all great about helping people abroad but don’t seem to take care of their own that well.

    • Maybe it’s because our problems pale in comparison to the bad things that happen in the rest of the world?

  • haha “I’m sure he’s got t-shirts to wear and sunglasses to take on and off but to mostly keep on.”

  • Blah dee blah. I *heart* the Clooney a whole lot, but I’m sick of celebrity masturbatory bleeding heart bull shit.

Have a private fundraiser and invite all of your hollywood hack friends who have money to piss away. Let the rest of us worry about how we’re going to pay for our rent/cat food/hard core drugs and keep you big dick in your pants about it.

  • no ones pointing out that sandra bullock also donated $1 mil. prob because she doesn’t promote herself – she just does it for the good cause. when asked why she was donating $1 mil, she said “bc i can”. sweet, simple, and to the point. thanks for people like this who can donate that kind of money and not be a famewhore.
