It has been confirmed that Michael Jackson’s kids will be speaking tonight during a tribute to their father at the 52nd Grammy Awards. Several members of the Jackson family will be there to see Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket’s speech, as well as performances by Carrie Underwood, Smokey Robinson and Usher, in what will likely be an unforgettable television moment. Also featured will be a 3-D mini-movie that was made for Michael’s This Is It tour.

I remember after Michael’s death that there were a lot of mixed reactions to his kids speaking at his funeral. Many people thought that the King of Pop would be saddened to see his children in the public eye considering that he spent their lives trying to protect them from cameras and fame. It’s difficult to say whether or not he would be happy about his kids being on stage at the Grammys, but as long as they’re getting some much-needed closure, I suppose this is a good thing.

James St. James from World of Wonder had the scoop yesterday that Drew Barrymore is engaged. Or at least she’s saying she is on her Facebook. The blogger is friends with her on the social networking site and he noticed that she changed her relationship status to “engaged” yesterday (click through to see a screengrab from Drew’s page.)

If she is, in fact, engaged, it would be to her long-time on again/off again boyfriend, actor Justin Long. It would also be her third trip down the aisle. I’m thinking that it might be a gag, though. Perhaps Drew decided to get in on that “hilarious” bit that some people do where they list themselves as being married to their bestie or say that “it’s complicated” with their sister. For some reason, I just think she’d be the kinda chick to do that and we’re all going to have a good chuckle tomorrow when her business partner Nancy or whomever confirms the engagement and their profiles are linked up.

Sarah Silverman is dating some producer bro named Alec Sulkin and he’s a babe. Here are five reasons why:

  1. He kind of looks like a more attractive version of Noel Gallagher.
  2. He’s wearing a Patriots sweatshirt.
  3. He looks like he’s great at swearing.
  4. He has the eyes of a serial killer.
  5. He seems to make her genuinely happy.

So yeah, I’d do him.

As the NY Post pointed out the other day, you may have noticed that a lot of your Facebook friends are changing their profile pictures from photos of themselves, to photos of celebrities they think they look like. That’s because it’s Doppelgänger Week! Here’s the explanation from the Post:

In order to celebrate Doppelgänger Week, Facebook users switch their profile pictures to famous people they have been told they resemble.

The trend appears to be catching on like wildfire, so much so that its success is being compared to that of the “bra colour” status updates. The recent viral trend had women updating the style of bra they were sporting in order to raise awareness for breast cancer.

The news feed announcing Doppelgänger Week on the social networking site this week read:

“It’s Doppelgänger week on Facebook; change your profile picture to someone famous (actor, musician, athlete, etc.) you have been told you look like. After you update your profile with your twin or switched at birth photo then cut/paste this to your status.”

So I guess this is a fun little game. Plus, it’s a great way to see how delusional your friends are. I was helping a girlfriend pick out her Doppelgänger the other day and I told her she kind of resembled Stacey Dash. Her refreshing response was something along the lines of “Bitch! Stevie Wonder doesn’t think I look like her!” On the other hand, I definitely have friends that are less down to Earth and are proudly sporting a Megan Fox photo on their profile. As if.

Who are you going to pick as your Doppelgänger?

Everyone was at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party last night. Everyone! Kelsey Grammer was there and he doesn’t even make music! The cool thing about this party though is that I feel like we got a little taste of what the fashion is going to be like tonight at the Grammys. In my personal opinion, the stars always look best at the Grammys. It’s a much more casual award show and rock stars and musicians are less likely (or more likely, depending on who we’re talking about) to make a huge to-do about their outfits. From these photos, I’m thinking we’re going to see a lot of distressed pieces and sparkles tonight.
