I’m not sure if I understand Kristen Stewart or not. I am looking forward to seeing The Runaways, but I might eat a gun if I have to hear the word “Twilight” used in another sentence. I have no opinion on her acting, but I trust people when they say that she’s not particularly good at it. I find her public persona to be both insulting and endearing. Yes, she’s surprised by her fame and she doesn’t seem to care for it at all… yet she’s not this great actress so I have a hard time believing that she’s only in it for the art. Gawd! This is so confusing!
Where’s this coming from? Kristen just did an interview with Fabulous Magazine and said the following about her fame, “Nothing about being a celebrity is desirable. I’m an actor. It’s bizarre to me that everyone is so obsessive.” Is it me, or does that sound a little clueless and unappreciative? Like when musicians write songs about how hard it is being famous? Of course your average American can assume that it’s a pain in the ass to be followed around with cameras and have teens in the middle of nowhere know your favorite color, but HELL-O! You get to be a celebrity and work in one of the most difficult professions to break in to! At least put a smile on your face and fake it like everyone else, Kristen!
She also goes on to say, “Girls are scary. They covet Rob. I think half of them must hate me.” Ugh. I’ll spare you the rant on how calling girls “scary” is probably way more damaging to her rep than dating her co-star, but trust me, I’ve got one.
What do we think about this? I’m torn on how to feel about this chick. Part of me understands what she’s saying and admires her honesty, but the other part of me thinks is crazy amounts of unprofessional/ungrateful to act so nonplussed.

I feel her pain on people being obsessive, her lack of privacy, the stalking of paparazzi…but Kristen seriously? Don’t act like you were totally unaware of what happens to actors who do successful films. Enjoy it.

Oh hell, from what we see in the trailer, and I mean in the TWO MINUTES trailer, she licks her lip as she does in every other movie ever made with her in it.

I like her candor, it’s refreshing. She didn’t sign up for Twilight for it to be a big blockbuster. It was supposed to be a small film. Whoops.
Twilight is maybe the worst example when it comes to evaluating someone’s acting skills… It’s been named “the graveyard of acting”, after all.
I personally think she can act. Maybe you could have an opinion about it, too, if you would actually watch the movies she’s in, and not just Twilight/New Moon. There are quite many of them.
I’ve seen her in Twilight, Catch That Kid, Zathura and Fierce People; she plays HERSELF in every single role.

She doesn’t have to be a good actor to actually be in it for the acting. It’s unfortunate that in order to be a successful actor you have to put up with every aspect of your life being invaded and made public property.
There are plenty of other high paying professions that don’t require you to sign your life over to the public for the duration of your career.
It’s not ungrateful to bemoan the fact that you miss your privacy. It’s human.
There are many actors that are complete attention whores and are clearly in the profession to get the attention that comes along with it. That doesn’t mean they all are, or that they shouldn’t be able to voice their annoyance at the situation if they aren’t.
i have i always liked her. pre-twilight (which, thankfully, i haven’t even had to sit through!). and i can’t wait to see the runaways. and i don’t understand the enormous amount of internet hatred for the girl! i don’t think she has a bad attitude, or a bad wardrobe. GIRL IS PRETTY AT ALL TIMES. and let’s be real, does it make any sense that our society obsesses over actors??
She’s actually a really great actress. People don’t give her a chance. And I understand where people are coming from when they say she sounds ‘ungreatful’ but she’s really just taken aback by this thing. It’s one thing to be famous it’s another thing to be shot into superstardom over night. She’s gotten a lot more comfortable with it over the last year and I think she will really surprise people in 2010.
I adore Kristen and I applaud her for not being yet another identikit Hollowwood bimbo. Bring on the grunge and the sour teen attitude! (By the way: perhaps my gaydar is majorly off the charts here, but I’m picking up on something.) And as for her acting skills, I think we need to see her in something other than a teen blockbuster before passing judgement.
Hey, girly, did someone threaten you so that you’d sign onto the Twilight Saga? If not, shut your pie hole. And stand up straight on the red carpet, for craps sake. Stop slouching. You are not Bette Davis fighting the studio system, you’re just a very lucky ordinary actress who should be maximizing her opportunities instead of whining. This can all go away, very quickly.
Fame, celebrity, popularity and talent are not mutually inclusive. (ask a Kardashian or a Gosselin)
She’s a child. I think a little cluelessness goes along with that. She acts and talks like a typical teen. Refreshing actually, to see a teen acting their age. I’ll take the pouty, slouchy emo brat over a Lohan or a Cyrus or a Hilton any day.
I’d rather she act the way she does then go on about how “blessed” she is in every fucking interview like so many other actresses do.
I personally find her apathy pretty insulting. She’s one of the luckiest people in the world, and she acts like it’s a burden and a pain. Sure, the fame thing might not be for her, but in that case hide it, don’t whine about being followed by photographers as you rake in millions biting your lips and pouting at a camera in crappy movies (I’ve seen a bunch of her movies, and her acting chops do NOTHING to justify her grating personality). Millions of people are struggling right now, and I honestly feel its pretty uncouth of anybody in Hollywood, especially as someone as un-special as her, bemoaning their lives at the moment. Seriously – suck it up!
