Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen (it feels weird to write their names that way, but Ashley is standing on the left) fell in to familiar habits last night on the red carpet. The two came out to the NYC premiere of the film and walked the carpet together, something they don’t do quite so much anymore. Here’s what I think is interesting about the two of them, though. They always just like, stand really close to each other and smile. They kind of look like two koala bears in a gum tree or something. Why not a smile with teeth or a peace sign or whatever the hell celebrities do these days to seem normal and endearing?

I think the twin on the left is MK and the one on the right is Ashley. The clothes had me confused for a minute but the facial expressions give it away.

Molls! That’s not quite accurate! Those koalas seem to have more charisma and I probably spent an extra 45 seconds staring at them than the rest of the hobo twins’ pictures combined.
I am going to lay blame for this “style” on Patricia Fields.
Had SJP not spent all those years on SATC looking like a tiny hobo, I seriously doubt these two tiny people would be still desperately trying to copy it.
I am still holding out hope that the tiny Olsen’s will show up one day with a great haircut and nice blowout, wearing clothes that fit them correctly.
For two people so desperate to be fashion Icons, why do they continue to dress so 1999? Do they not see the irony of all of it?

Nine is “the film.” Unfortunate charades aspect of this post required readers to look at the picture for clues about “the film.”

More importantly, Koalas are marsupials, not bears. I realise you Americans only get one of them (some kind of possum – I forget which) and we get almost all of them, but for Cliff’s sake. Marsupials. Look them up. They aren’t bears.
