Jessica Simspon: “Respect My Dog’s Memory”

Jessica Simpson and Daisy

It’s been a rough month for Jessica Simpson after losing her malitpoo Daisy to a coyote in her parent’s back yard. The singer turned to Twitter in hopes of being able to retrieve her pup, but everyone knew that the situation was pretty bleak. Jessica did not give up hope though and followed through with the tips that she received that Daisy had been found… only to find out that all of them were dead-ends that she was lead to by pranksters.

As if the loss of a dog isn’t heartbreaking enough, especially under such circumstances, but to have people sending you messages that give you hope only to find out that it was just some jerk off with a keyboard messing with you? That’s truly mean.

Jessica took to her Twitter last night to ask the public to please stop with the practical jokes. “People have been contacting my family and friends saying that Daisy has been found. Untrue. People are so cruel. Please respect her memory.”

I would love to be able to make a joke about this, and I’m sure that some of you in the comments will chime in about how stupid and irresponsible she and her parents are, but currently I have my chihuahua sleeping on my lap and the thought of losing him period, let alone to a coyote, is heartbreaking. I actually feel quite bad about this story and am disgusted by anyone so desperate to touch fame that they’re sending this woman false reports of finding her puppy.

    • She is a WRITER, you are reading this for her OPINION, which by the way is very valid in this case. When you are a journalist, to be passionate about your opinion is far better than to be apathetic and neutral in fear of losing a couple of readers.

By the way, just because you aren’t actually having a face-to-face conversation with her, you can’t say things like that to people. You are very rude, unconstructive and misinformed.

  • how is this post in any way self-righteous? i know the writers on this blog catch shit sometimes (which is part of the job, i suppose), but at least save the criticism for when it’s earned.

  • molls, you don’t need to respond to every single disparaging remark that someone makes on your posts. i don’t agree that this post is self righteous but i do think that it comes off as a little bit sad that every times some random anonymous reader disagrees with your posts or nitpicks your grammar, you feel the need to defend yourself. just…relax..

    • I try to keep the dialogue open here. I’m not simply defending myself. Check out other posts, I also comment when someone makes a really sound point or I find their comment to be hilarious. :) And no, I’m not responding to you because of your constructive criticism. I am totally the first to admit when I am in the wrong.

  • I don’t think the post was self-righteous. It’s really terrible to lose a pet. My cat got out and is now missing, and I check my phone and e-mail obsessively for any tips, hoping that someone would find him. It’s a cruel joke, and the loss of a pet like this is heartbreaking; You never really find out what’s happened to them.

  • Poor Daisy. I have endless respect for people who treat pets as part of the family and care for them as they deserve. Props to JS. I hope Daisy went quickly.

  • Cant stand the bitch, felt very bad about the dog. (Although happy she wasnt crying over a baby being taken.)

We lost our Riley this year. It sucked. Even famous people feel pain and loss.

I think she should track down one of these idiots and send out the real hounds (bodyguards) to re-educate them in manners quickly!

  • I wish Molls would reply to one of my posts!! Maybe I am not mean enough or funny enough to be a true blogger – I will work on this!

  • Did you mean to spell her last name wrong? It is late, and I am drunk so maybe there is a play on words I am missing.

  • Right on, Molls! Since I ended up in a hand cast, responding ain’t as easy but I had to give credit where it is due. Pet lovers will always defend one another. And to those who don’t get it, so sad for you. My cat (who is watching my The West Wing DVDs with me) brings me love & laughter. I would not change one hair on his fuzzy little head.
