Here’s a picture of  engaged Dancing With The Stars stars Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy taken on August 30th.  Ten days ago.  Today, Karina’s rep confirms that the couple are through.  They will still be performing together on DWTS.

I wonder where it all went wrong.  They recently announced that they were postponing their wedding until next summer due to busy schedules.  ”Busy schedules” is often code for “trouble on the horizon.”  I don’t know.  Maks was always kind of a jerk — he’s the dude who implied that co-stars Lacey Schwimmer and Cheryl Burke were fat.  Whatever.

Anyway, I guess this is more proof that quickie engagements don’t always pan out.  They announced their intent to marry just six months after Karina’s split from Mario Lopez.  Sad, I guess.

In a new Daily Mail interview, Lady Gaga confesses that she used to be a coke addict who snorted “bags and bags of cocaine” before she became famous.  Earlier this year, she even credited cocaine for inspiring the fashions she wears.

GaGa, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, said:’My father is a really powerful man, a telecom guy. So he looked at me one day and said, “You’re f***in’ up, kid.” And I looked at him and thought, “How does he know that I’m high right now?” 

‘And he never said a word about the drugs, not one word. But he said, “I just wanna tell you that anyone you meet while you’re like this, and any friend that you make in the future while you are with this thing, you will lose.”

‘And we never talked about it again.’

The 23-year-old began taking cocaine regularly in 2005 after dropping out of a music course at New York University to find fame. 

“My cocaine soundtrack was The Cure. I loved all their music, but I listened to this one song on repeat while I did bags and bags of cocaine.

She said: ‘I didn’t think there was anything wrong with me until my friends came over and said, ‘Are you doing this alone?’ “Um, yes. Me and my mirror”.’

‘But I was able to stop, because I was panicking more on the drugs than I was sober. So I’m fine now.

As far as the singer’s health today, she says that she is no longer an addict though she still likes to “party” and drink.  It’s pretty clear that Gaga’s record label just wants her to shut up about her powdery past.  ”The label gets mad at me for talking about it – they say, ‘We don’t want people to think that you’re not a pop star.’  But I am a pop star. I’m a pop star with a story!”

Are we all tuning into the Melrose Place premiere tonight?  Uh … no?  Oh, well.  I just watched this extended trailer of the show and read the show synopsis — I’m now pretty convinced that its lease is going to expire in five episodes or less.  

Fans will recall that when Melrose Place went off the air in 1999, Sydney Andrews was left for dead after being hit by a car, and Dr. Michael Mancini was last seen helping Peter Burns and Amanda Woodward flee the country. Apparently, a lot can happen in 10 years.

In the premiere, Sydney is now the landlord of Melrose Place, and she’s been messing around with Michael’s estranged son David Breck, played by Shaun Sipos. “Sydney’s always been sort of doomed to be the center of controversy,” Leighton says, “and she’s very much in that position.”

Also returning is Josie Bissett, who played Jane Mancini. But as for the infamous Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear, her comeback is still uncertain, although Locklear is in talks with producers.

“Not only would it be exciting to have her back on the show, it would be exciting to have all of the old cast members back on the show at some point,” Calabro says. “They all brought their own unique persona and talent.”

In case the show’s writers need any help coming up with an Amanda storyline, Calabro has an idea: “There would be some bloody battle between Amanda and Michael,” he envisions. “What would be really fun is if we were fighting over the same woman! Now that would be interesting and different.”

Did I say five episodes?  I meant three.  If anyone watches, please post your thoughts on how the first episode was.

I’m convinced that the folks over at Funny or Die must get the corporate rate on medical marijuana.  What other possible tactic might they employ to get some of the biggest stars to participate in their oftentimes not hysterical skits?  Zach Galifianakis — no, that’s not Joaquin Phoenix — appears in another episode of the fictional show Between Two Ferns with Charlize Theron as his guest.

I’d like to apologize to all the Lindsay Lohan lovers out there for not reporting this sooner; clearly I’ve been lax.  Saturday night Linds went to Crown Bar which, let’s face it, isn’t exactly breaking news.  Here’s the problem:  Somehow, she managed to smuggle her 15-year-old sister into the club.  A club owner posing as a witness in hopes that he doesn’t lose his liquor license witness offered this account:  ”They stayed at the club for an hour. They were with a couple of friends. They were both happy and bubbly. Ali drank water and Lindsay drank red bull [sic] . They hung out at their table while dancing to the beats….I guess Samantha wasn’t invited. They left at 1am.”

Obviously the witness can’t discern the difference between water and, say, vodka?

Those Lohan parents just never learn, do they?

I’m going to give Tila Tequila a bit more of what she’s asking for — attention! — and then I’m done with this lying attention hound unless some major development presents itself.  At some point (on Twitter, of course), she alluded to having “pictures”.  Of course, her intention is that the public will think she has pictures of her “injuries” until we find out that she actually has pictures of, like, her dog.

Many of you have been emailing me pictures of Tila Tequila drinking, so I think we can just assume that she’s a liar and she isn’t allergic to alcohol.  Apparently, many people of Asian descent have an alcohol flush response.  That doesn’t indicate an allergy!  If you’d like to see Tila admit that she drinks, click here.  In regards to the night of the alleged abuse, the owner of the bar that served Tila is speaking out:

“Also Monday, the owner of a downtown club where Merriman and Tequila attended a party Saturday night said his staff told him Tequila had been drinking and it appeared Merriman had ordered only bottled water.

“I feel sorry for the guy and I think the truth needs to be told,” said James Brennan, who owns Stingaree, one of the city’s top hangouts for celebrities.

Brennan said he normally wouldn’t comment, but felt he should after seeing Tequila’s tweet in which she said she’s allergic to alcohol.

“It sounds like she’s allergic to the truth,” Brennan told The Associated Press.

Brennan said he was not at the club Saturday night, but had spoken with every employee who dealt with Tequila and Merriman. Brennan said he was told she had shots of tequila and drank from a bottle of vodka. Brennan said Tequila requested that his brother, Shane, a manager at Stingaree, have a shot of tequila with her.

“She wasn’t like falling down or anything of that nature, but she was visibly intoxicated,” Brennan said.”

The other reason I wanted to revisit this story was to address some Tweets that Tila put up overnight and then promptly deleted.  She refers to steroid use and it’s connection to aggression.  In all fairness, Shawne Merriman, Tila’s San Diego Chargers (ex-?) boyfriend, did run into a problem with steroids back in the 2006 season.  I’d like to thank our reader (who wishes to remain anonymous) for the screen grab of this feed as well as some of the other pics of Tila bravely confronting her allergy.  He may be the only person who detests TT more than I do.
