Bad news to report today. Lily Allen is giving up music. She’s been under a lot of fire lately for her views on file sharing (she’s against illegal file shares but does illegal file sharing), but I don’t know if that’s related to her decision to stop. She wrote on her blog, ”Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record (applause). I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade.”
For the sake of all the Lily fans out there, let’s hope this is just some sort of launching pad for her “Lily is Back!” 2010 concert tour. The Stones do it, Cher does it, Barbra Streisand does it, and it works! It’s a shake down that sells lots of tickets but usually it’s done by people who’ve been in the music biz for decades. Lily is still so young!
In unrelated news, guess who’s not going anywhere? Melrose Place. The CW has just ordered up six more episodes, undoubtedly to accommodate Heather Locklear’s impending arrival.

Damn – I was just starting to like her…this is all just a publicity stunt…or a coke fueled blog post that she and her PR agents are now trying to work through.
Although I hate to admit it, whether she is in music or not I’m sure she’ll find ways to stay in the news.

In may 2008 Lily Allen wrote a blog explaining that she didn’t really want to write on her My Space page anymore, because the British tabloids & gossip websites, would contradict what she meant when she wrote it. Even though it was one of her favorite things too do. She has since written on her blog only a couple of times, (a trip back to Ibiza Spain) & her sensationalized argument with Elton John. My point being that here it is again, she used a word for word article to avoid being misunderstood, and she also gets blamed for having too much publicity because some people believe that she uses My Space as a tool. That’s untrue it’s there for her to share her thoughts/opinions/idea’s with people who care about what she’s up too. The press intrudes because they do that to all famous people. It’s there job.
