There’s something that really bothers me about Joe Jackson.  Every time he opens his mouth to say mumble something, I think he’s lying.  It troubles me that he never offers any insight as to who his son was as a person.  Joe obviously thinks Michael was the best performer in the world, but he doesn’t speak of him as a son, father, friend.

The Today Show aired a JJ interview this morning that was recorded over the weekend, on the day that would have been Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday.  If you don’t have speakers on your computer or you’re at work and can’t really take a listen, let me offer you a brief, paraphrased summary:

Interviewer:  Joe, how are you holding up?

JJ:  Me?  Oh, I’m fine!  Uh, oh, I mean, I’m still grieving the loss of Michael.

Interviewer:  Are you angry about Michael’s death?

JJ:  No.  I’m not angry.  I’m mad but I’m not angry.

Interviewer:  What do you want people to know about your son?

JJ:  He was the best performer in the world.

Interviewer:  Did you know that Michael was using these drugs?

JJ:  No.  I knew nothing about anything.  This is foul play!

Interviewer:  Do you want justice done?  Do you want to see people go to jail for the death of your son?

JJ:  Yes, I want justice.  I don’t know if I want anyone going to jail.  But they will pay.

Interviewer:  Do you want these doctors to be held responsible for administering these medications to Michael?

JJ:  No.  I never said anything about any doctors.

Interviewer:  Do you see your grandchildren?  And if so, how often?

JJ:  I do see them.  Uhhhhh … I see them.  Often enough.  Let’s end this interview now.

Last year’s American Idol victory song — “No Boundaries” which was written by AI judge Kara DioGuardi — never really took off.  As a matter of fact, runner-up Kris Allen dropped it from the repertoire of songs he sings on the American Idol tour.  According to him, it slowed down the momentum of the shows.

Kara, the scrappy songwriter, just released a studio recording of herself singing the tune.  Is it my imagination, or does this song sound a lot better being sung by a woman?

I don’t know how much more I can take, but Jon Gosselin hosted a Las Vegas pool party this weekend and I thought you should know.  The promoters of this party probably paid valid U.S. currency for this cheeseball to appear.  Money.  Though I’m sure, with a little negotiation, he probably would have agreed to be paid in cases of Magnum XLs and a lifetime supply of street vendor pretzels.

I put a few more pics of JG in the gallery because I know we have some Jonophiles around these parts.  Please take special note of the girl who has angel wings tattooed directly above her twat.  I’m staking claim right now and calling her the next Mrs. Jon Gosselin.

Okay, it isn’t Mariah Carey, but here’s host Wendy Williams in all her phosphorescent glory last night at the Daytime Emmys.  And we should probably just get this out of the way right up front — Rachael Ray beat out Ellen Degeneres for best talk show.  Of course, this is the same panel that also saw fit to give Emmys to Tyra Banks and those crows over at The View.  You can see the full list of winners here.

Lately, it seems like all the celebrity news is just depressing and I am getting a little sick and tired of being the Messenger of Death.  So today, we are going to look at pretty and not-so-pretty dresses.  We will scrutinize Dr. Phil’s uneasy demeanor as he stands next to his Playmate daughter-in-law and his retired stripper of a wife.  We will marvel at Bindi Irwin’s cuteness and applaud Tatyana Ali for being part of the one percent of Hollywood women that has her own breasts.  That’s what kind of post day this is going to be.

Kelly Preston was set to speak about her son Jett’s sudden death at the California Governor’s Conference that’s being hosted by Maria Schriver titled “Grief & Resilience”, but she pulled out of the panel and issued the following statement, “It is with my sincere apologies that I must pull out from speaking at [the] conference. I am sorry, but I truly believed that I could do it, otherwise I never would have said that I could. But I am still deeply in the process of healing, and it’s just too soon.”

The death of a child is said to be one of the most horrible things a person can encounter in life and while it would have been amazing if Preston could speak to her loss, it’s understandable that she’s uncomfortable making public statements at this time. Additionally, a great deal of controversy has surrounded the death of her son, with speculation that the parent’s religion, Scientology, prevented them from treating their son’s rumored autism the way that it needed to be treated. John Travolta, Kelly’s husband and the boy’s father, has always stayed quiet about his son’s condition and it wasn’t until the official documents associated with his son’s death were circulated in which he referenced Jett’s autism that these claims were made valid.

Well, I got the memo yesterday that most of you are sick of the DJ AM coverage on the site the past couple of days, and I get it: You don’t know who he was, you don’t care who he was and he died of a drug overdose. However, there has been a reason behind all of the stories I’ve posted and that’s because we are a celebrity gossip site. We cover celebrities and their actions and interests, and DJ AM was at the heart of many celebrities lives. He was a friend and a co-worker, a confidant and system of support. Many of the people we talk about here every day have been affected by his loss, and the news reflects that. So, I will burden you with one more post and then after that I’m done unless any major news breaks on the story.

Last night Blink-182 continued their reunion tour in Hartford, CT. The whole band, but most notably Travis Barker had an extremely strong bond with AM and the two not only shared work, but they survived a plane crash together. At one point during the show, the band’s frontman Mark Hoppus paid tribute to his friend and let the audience know how hard it was for them to play that night. He concluded his tribute by holding a moment of silence in honor of his friend, and then the band went right in to playing one of their more recent hits “Down”.
