Lilo returned home from her stint as a guest judge on Project Runway to find that her house had been broken into. Police are currently assembled at the house, but there are no suspects in custody. According to Dina Lohan, “the safe was ripped out of the wall, and the door was off the hinges and door handles removed.”
Lindsay is understandably upset. Dina is helping her pack her things so she can move to a “safer place” immediately.
A few months ago, an attempted burglary was caught on Lilo’s surveilance cameras, but no suspects were arrested in that case either.
In both incidents, Lohan was out of town for an extended period of time.
I was intrigued by these pictures of Calista Flockhart and Denise Richards treating their children like extra baggage while shopping at Fred Segal in L.A. on Saturday.
Denise’s little girls cling to mommy’s shopping bag handles while Flockhart attempts to do everything in her power to avoid actually holding hands with adopted son Liam while he totes her shopping bags.
Is it just me, or does it seem like Calista Flockhart would be one hellish nightmare of a stepmother/mother? I’m basing this on absolutely no evidence whatsoever, other than pictures like those above (and below) and the fact that she is frighteningly skinny. I mean, the poor kids can’t even hug her for fear of eviscerating themselves on her clavicle.
Stephenie Meyer–who has way too many E’s in her name– is being sued for plagiarism by Jordan Scott, the author of an obscure tome of teenage vampire drama entitled The Nocturne.
According to Scott, she published passages of her book on the internet while she was writing it in 2003. She alleges that Meyer stole material from those passages for her book Breaking Dawn, the fourth in the Twilight series of novels.
“The Nocturne” and “Breaking Dawn,” which was published in 2008, show similarities in language, plot lines, characters and other points, Scott’s lawsuit stated. For instance, the lawsuit said both books contain a wedding passage and an after-wedding scene of sex on the beach.
Hachette Book Group, Meyer’s publisher, said the “alleged similarities” are “wholly lacking in substance,” and Meyer based “Breaking Dawn” on an earlier, unpublished sequel to “Twilight” that she wrote.
Meyer’s lawyers have released a statement calling the lawsuit a “publicity stunt to further Ms. Scott’s career,” and say they expect the lawsuit to be dismissed.
If it is a publicity stunt, it’s a brilliant one. She’s managed to inform readers of Meyer’s novels that her books are similar in style and content (hence, they might enjoy reading them) AND given diehard Meyer fans a reason to buy an read her book– to dispute her claims of plagiarism.
A few months back, a woman was sued by her landlords after tweeting that the building she lived in was filled with mold. Now, a New York City fashion blogger is being sued by a model she labeled as a “skank.”
Blogger Rosemary Port posted pictures of small-time model Liskula Cohen engaging in activities that many people would consider skanky on her blog “Skanks in NYC”– which actually sounds like a fun read.
Cohen however, didn’t find the material so amusing. She filed suit and through legal wrangling was able to get a court order forcing Google (parent company of blogger.com) to reveal the until-then-anonymous identity of the blog’s author.
Does posting [a blog] give someone the right to call her ‘a psychotic, lying whore’?” asked [Cohen's lawyer]. “Her business was affected by the anonymous blogger’s site, which had many hits before a client of Liskula brought it to her attention. I know how heartbroken she was.”
Despite Cohen’s victory in prying Port’s name out of Google, the model has told her lawyer she does not want to go ahead with her $3 million defamation suit against Port.
“What this blogger did ought not to be condoned or forgiven. But my client is walking away from it,” the lawyer said. “She’s said, ‘It adds nothing to my life to hurt hers.’ Liskula has offered her forgiveness. But even after she has been forgiven, Port has no interest in redeeming her soul.”
That’s lawyer speak for, “We know we don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting any money out of this case, so we’re giving up.”
In a final interesting twist, now that Rosemary Port has been outed as the blog’s author, she’s lobbed a $16 million lawsuit at Google for revealing her identity.
Considering all the smack I talk about celebrities on a regular basis– on this site and on Twitter– I’m a little concerned. Does this mean both you and I– in articles and in the comments on those articles– will no longer be free to label skanky behavior as such without getting sued by said skanks?
If that’s the case, Lindsay Lohan could make enough money off of this site to keep her in patchy tanner and black leggings for the rest of her life.
Add this to the “must see” list of every living being with functioning genitalia. In the upcoming movie, Black Swan– a movie in which a “ballerina competes against a rival dancer who may or may not be another version of herself”– co-stars Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman share a sex scene. And not just any sex scene. According to script review website Scriptshadow, it’s an “ecstasy-induced hungry aggressive, angry” sex scene.
There’s no word yet as to whether or not the scene will include nudity. But given her past film experiences, I’d say Nat’s not afraid to show a little bush.
The film is due to be released sometime in 2010. Clips of the Portman and Kunis sex scene are due to be leaked on the internet about 5 hours afterward.
I can’t believe how old Frances Bean Cobian is. She had the audacity to turn 17 on August 18th, while in my mind, she should still be 5 years old with bobbed hair.
Kids these days. Before you know it, they’ve gone through puberty and are developing sex and/or drug addictions of their very own. (Not that Frances Bean has… yet. But come on.)
Frances (far right) hung out in Noho yesterday with her entourage. Can you identify any of the others? The guy in the leather jacket in particular reeks of pseudo celebrity, so I figure someone might know who he is, and will criticize me mercilessly for not being able to identify him.
