Today's Evil Beet Gossip

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

picture-1

I just had to show you this week’s People magazine cover.  Discussion continues about Twilight actor Robert Pattinson’s love life while Walter Cronkite, the most trusted man in America, gets sent to the corner.  What the hell is wrong with this country?

  • I am so tired of these rumors about this beautiful man and that chick! there have been so many covers with that gossip, please PEOPLE, US WEEKLY, STAR MAGAZINE, stop it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least come up with a more interesting shit like diseases or his/her sexual orientation…jeez

  • I guess it is a good thing he didn’t die when MJ and FF did…he would never see the cover it seems.

  • So sad, and so wrong.
Thanks for pointing out this latest insult Wendie.

When Paul Newman died, his picture on the cover of US Magazine was about the same size as Cronkite’s is here. It was much more important to have a full cover picture of some of the chicks from The Hills, and to have an article inside where they discussed their fashion choices. Not the stupid “drama” from the show, but FASHION.

Celebrity news can be fun, but it should never overshadow the death of an icon.

  • Uhhh…websites like this are one of the supporting reasons for covers like that.

I’m an evil beet fan but lets not pretend that the beet is above the antics of People Magazine somehow.

Websites like this one and all the rest (including all of the gossip mags) are whats wrong with this country.
Your right in there with the dirty rest of ’em.
As am I for reading this crap.
Nice attempt at trying to take the high road though :)

    • Good point. We are just as bad as People Mag. But I’ll still keep reading EB because it’s an addiction…

  • “Fluuuuuuush!”
That was the sound of our society going down the crapper. Walter Cronkite was an everyman and respected by millions. Now we follow the Gosselins. Pathetically, I do too, but I don’t put them in front of Walter Cronkite – who should have gotten the large photo on the cover.

People mag is just catering to sales. Sad, but true.

  • They did the same thing to Bea Aurthur because her death just happened to land in the same week as their most beautiful people issue.

    It makes me sick.

  • Something I’d like to point out is that perhaps the typical readers of People Magazine are less familiar with Walter Cronkite or care less about him than rumors about Robert Pattinson. Sad, but probably true…

  • I’m sure the magazines demographics don’t include the aging baby boomers and elderly as much as they do the 30 and under crowd. Putting Walter Cronkite on the cover would have drastically reduced their over the counter sales numbers, so why do it? Old people don’t matter, just ask any teenager.

  • wendie, you are my idol. that’s all. wendie = my american idol. i heart your posts!!

  • I just wish they’d find a newer picture. I think this cover is probably directed at the people who buy People a lot of whom probably don’t even know who Walter Cronkite was. I agree with above. It’s about sales. Heck, I’m going to buy it.

  • I’m sure they wanted to put Walter in the main spot but seeing as how Rob’s hair wouldn’t have fit up there, they had to make him the main story. Also, in such a little pic there’s no way we would have been able to see his chest pubes in all of their glory.
