Madonna Takes Mercy to Kabbalah Meetings

Madonna took newly purchased adopted daughter Mercy to the Kabbalah Centre in London this morning, along with David, Lourdes, Rocco, and ex husband Guy Ritchie. Madonna gave Mercy a piggy back ride as the two quickly exited the center and ducked into a waiting car.

To better introduce her to Kabbalah, Madge plans to take Mercy to Jerusalem to see the Wailing Wall. The trip won’t occur until later in the year however; Madonna wants to give Mercy time to “settle in” to her new London home.

Mercy looks adorable, if not exactly happy. I’m sure she’s probably still a little bewildered.

  • It would be interesting to know (not that it’s anyone’s business, just curiosity on my part) how Mercy was prepared for this adoption. What she was told, etc. Her world is now completely different than it was even a month ago. I’m not sure how you COULD prepare a child for that.

    • The preparation should have had a provision that they not go anywhere where they knew that they would be hounded by the paparazzi for a least, oh, I don’t know, two weeks. That child has probably never even seen a camera.

      • andi – considering she had her photo taken before madonna came along i’m guessing she has seen a camera. africans have cameras.

  • Yes, Mercy is a very cute little girl. Yes, she will have a better life. Madonna, however, is still a shrew.

    • “Little” girl? Was it just me, or did anyone think she was actually younger? I guess I just assumed she was as old as David was when Madonna adopted him. Is she 4 years old?

    • I’m going to go ahead and guess guy ritchie is in no way going to act like her father. She probably just won’t have a father figure, it’s sad. but people ca function fine that way.

  • What is up with all these women adopting kids to fill a void in there life? Jesu* get a hobby or something.

    • Hey do what you want but I sure as hell ain’t gettin smote by the Big Guy upstairs.

*after seeing a bright yellow flash and hearing a soft ssss sound, EV commenters noticed mireee and yeayea never commented after that day*

      • Knowing you, I’d assume you’d actually want mireee to stick around..ya know considering the fact that she’s decent looking and you’d pork anything with a hole and feminine face.

        Just sayin.

  • Mercy is very cute – I hope she’s happy. I hope David is nice to her and shows her the ropes.

  • not to be a hater or anything.. but i think it is so sad how people like Madonna can easily adopt children from Africa. In Tanzania (and Malawi I think) you actually have to be a resident of the country to adopt the kid- and on top of that there is so much crap to go through. I have quite a few friends that have or currently are volunteering in Tanznia who want to adopt. only one has been successful- and it took her about 5 years to do it. When I see stuff like this it is just kind of sad- it really is quite unfair.

  • No matter how Mercy came to be Madonna’s child, the life expectancy in Africa is 58, she probably would not have had the opportunity for an education and would have been little more than a slave, or a farm hand, living in dire poverty and since the AIDS epidemic is at 30 percent, possibly dying a horrible death. How could any of the above be a good thing, she had family and they didn’t want her. Someone did for a long time.

Madonna will love and provide for her, she’ll live a long life, have the best education money can buy, the best medical care, she was saved. I find it noble to have been so persistent for this child, she clearly could have gotten any child, but Mercy now has a family who wants her, the bonus is that Madonna is supporting thousands of orphans now, so this child represents a small fraction of good that has come from her interest in one of the poorest countries in the world, an the most at need in the country. I commend her for her love and generosity, which comes from a strange place because she’s really supposed to be a rather unpleasant person who cares very little for people in general.

    • Actually, her family fought for her to stay which is why the adoption took as long as it did. Her father was never told about the child and once he did find out about her he wanted to keep her.

I’m not saying that it was a bad thing the Madonna adopted Mercy in any sense, it’s just I feel like she could have adopted a child who legitimately did not have anybody willing to take care of her.

      • Actually, her father left her mother while she was pregnant with Mercy. When he heard the mother died in childbirth he assumed the child did to. So he did know there was the possibility of her existance, but clearly did not care enough to find out whether or not his child was alive.

  • My own kid would jump at the chance to be adopted by Madonna-think about the lifestyle.
Did she improve this particular child’s life enormously? Of course. But make no mistake-she purchased a child.

  • This site has been running slow for WEEKS. I am so sick of seeing the same crap I read yesterday afternoon. I’m not trying to nit-pick, and God knows I’ve kept it in for a long while, but this is ridiculous.

  • Yeah… where’s Sasha? when was the last time she posted something? I hope she’s ok…

  • Sasha’s been on vacation, so the recent slow activity is understandable. However, her last post was like, a week and a half ago. I know Wendie is taking over but, still, it’s Sasha’s site. And it’s slow with two people. Maybe she should give someone her spot if she isn’t planning on updating more than once every few weeks. Just an idea.
