R.I.P. Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson has passed away at the age of 50, apparently from cardiac arrest.

Well, this seems surreal to report this to you, and I was hoping the media outlets had it wrong, but it is true.  The King of Pop is dead at 50.  When paramedics arrived at his home, he had no pulse and they were unable to revive him.

In a career that spanned four decades, Jackson was at times deeply loved and widely reviled.  He had 13 number one hits as a solo artist.

I tried explaining the level of Michael Jackson’s fame, as it was in the 80’s, to my son and could not.  There was not one current artist I could think of that could compare to what Michael was at the height of his fame.

He is survived by three children:  Michael Joseph, Paris Michael Katherine and Prince “Blanket” Michael.

I’ve already read so many mixed messages in response to this news, but regardless, prayers sent out to the Jackson family.  It’s a tragedy.

      • That is a vicious horrible statement. Maybe you have never had anyone close to you die, but whatever his flaws he clearly loved his kids. im sure he was a very doting dad and that his kids are so sad that the only parent they had is gone. they are effectively orphans. Who is going to raise them now???? Im sad that he is gone. I loved his music. I wanted him to have a comeback. I wanted to finally go to one of his concerts.

  • im in shock and have goose bumps and shivers all over. I’m not a fan or anything, but I’m creeped out by recent events

    • I was thinking about them too. Depending on who gets custody of his three children, we’ll either be seeing a lot more of them or they will remain hidden. I hope they aren’t thrust into the spot light until they are ready for it.

  • Kinda feel bad for Farrah. She didn’t get to have her moment. Her death would have been big news if it happened any other day, but it has been completely swept off the headlines.

    • I had the exact same feeling! I never liked Jackson. Apart from the fact he made great music 20 years ago I’ve always seen him as a very sick person.

      • Lauren, we share the same opinion. He was a legend a longass time ago, and whilst he produced great work, that is no excuse for his alleged molestation case to just be “forgotten”. So maybe he’ll finally find the quiet solace he so desperately needed and was deprived of here on eaerth, but at the same time…I just can’t sympathize. My generation didn’t know him to be great, but rather a pervert.

On a spiritual and religious stand, I know God forgives all sinners. If MJ was indeed guilty, he better have known how to pray and ask for forgiveness.

      • Thank you for pointing this out. He was sick. People want to either ignore or forget the ugliness.

      • Heres a simple fact you have all so ignorantly overlooked, even though you typed it yourself:
        “ALLEGED molestation”
Yeah, someone accused you of something years ago that was total bullshit, it must not be forgotten!
        Retard logic, much?
Don’t you understand the complexities of human mentalities, whether it be the money grubbing parents who LET their children stay with a man they barely knew, or the poor, used, naive man who, because of his fragile childlike mentalities (maybe borne from his life being dedicated to entertainment and his ass being kissed rather than social evolution like most other kids?), suffered for THE REST OF HIS LIFE stupid people calling him a pervert or judging a tragic life they clearly know nothing about.
Come on guys, grow up. If you feel so stongly about paedophilia, go to the many known child molesters, perverts or indecent exposers that are bound to be in your area rather than condemning a dead man for something that was never proved and most likely farce.
Fucking halfway heroes sitting at your keyboards sumgly because you’ve bashed a guy who’s not even been dead for a day.

      • Since there was no reply link below your comment, I will post it above, Bunny. I normally don’t respond when someone has a negative reply to a comment of mine, unless it is completely fucking ignorant and insulting to me…and then I will only take the time to respond once. I worked in law enforcement and social services for years dealing with shit like this. While you are entitled to your opinion, however unperceptive and sheep-like it may be, don’t even attempt to assume I am some “halfway hero” who hides behind a pc. If it looks like a duck, waddles and quacks like a duck, odds are, IT IS A FUCKING DUCK. I can assure you, being a victim in a criminal trial is no walk in the park. The odds are against them, and they suffer incredibly due to the system and the mentalities of PEOPLE LIKE YOU. I certainly hope no child or loved one of yours is unfortunate enough to experience abuse. I can’t imagine them ever being confident in your show of support.

    • I doubt that the timing of one celebrities death in relation to another celebrities death matters at all to those who truly care about them.

  • this is so surreal… i remember having a MJ doll as a kid, going to one of his concerts (amazing!) at the height of his career. it is so sad. this day just keeps getting weirder for me.

  • Ed McMahon was old and had health issues. Farrah Fawcett we all knew wasn’t faring too well with her cancer. These two passings we knew were going to happen sooner or later.

But this news hit me like a bag of bricks. When I first read it on TMZ, I kept looking for the “Haha, April’s Fools!” Michael Jackson’s death has me in shock. It’s the same feeling I had when I read about Heath Ledger’s death. You just don’t expect these things to happen when they do.

    • That’s what I’ve been thinking this whole time. Heath Ledger. Just shocking death that you never saw coming.

  • Ed McMahon was old and had health issues. Farrah Fawcett we all knew wasn’t faring too well with her cancer. These two passings we knew were going to happen sooner or later.

  • The first thought I had when I heard the news was “somebody is gonna get sued by false statement!” and I went running to the notebook to “dismiss” instead of “confirm” the story… I’m still in denial, he can’t be dead.

      • Roofies don’t necessarily apply to children.
Males can produce semen by about age 12 (which is still a child in my book).
“Your retarded”… do I even need to validate that with a response? I guess I did, though.

  • When I read this I was just shocked. I couldn’t believe that MJ was actually dead. I kept waiting for the “Hahah! It was all just a bad joke” posts. :(
Very sad. Rest in peace <3

  • Extremely sad….Thriller was the very first album my father bought me as a child..no matter what you thought of Michael Jackson in his later years…he was and always will be..a musical genius and prodigy..I’m so sad right now..for his family and my own memories of him…like the poster said above..I hope he finds the peace he never could find here on Earth…sad day…

  • CNN has yet to confirm it. That’s so bizarre.

But so far, LA Times, CBS, MSNBC, KCAL9, they’re all calling it.

  • I was just talking with my mother about how sad this is. Michael Jackson might have been weird, but he was incredibly talented and this early death is a huge tragedy.

  • Not that I’m a huge fan, but either way his music for the most part, touched everyone in some way. The majority of people know at least one song and love it. And when it comes on you’re happy.

But I’m still unsure who to believe. Obviously Wendie is God and I’m not saying she’s wrong. I’m just saying “Tweet about it CNN PLZ”

  • This honestly makes me so sad. Its crazy how you can feel like you really know someone when you have never met them. I think MJ was a mentally ill individual perhaps brought on by his childhood. I remember hearing him talk about his dad making him record and he looked across the street at kids playing baseball, and he just wanted to play baseball too. Very sad. I hope he will finally have happiness where ever we go after here, because he certainly did not have the peace everyone deserves here on earth.

  • Well said, Yeayea. I feel really sad too– mainly because of how sad his life seemed. Someone so talented and beautiful who could never feel comfortable in his own skin. So sad for his children.

  • I have never been a true fan, just liked some of his songs (I’m too young to be a fan anyways), but I am really crying right now. May his ubertalented soul rest in peace. I’ve always thought he is the first superstar of his kind and there will Never be anyone that could beat his artistic skills. I am really shocked and sad. RIP again.

    • You’re too young to be a fan?
That’s a silly thing to say, I don’t think anyone is too young to be a fan. It’s not like you can’t go to any stores that sells music and buy his music.

    • Um, no they aren’t. There’s still 500,000 registered sex offenders out there.
      Michael Jackson joke FAIL

  • Biggest shock since my husband woke me up and said Diana`s dead and I couldnt think who he meant. His early songs with Jackson five I grew up with and the song Ben always made me cry. As for his weirdness well look at the family

    • This is what is wrong with this country. He was alleged to have molested children, but was never convicted. How can you just assume that he was a pedophile when it was never proven? All charges were dropped. Part of the reason he went into hiding was because everyone convicted him although he never went on trial. It is sad that we have lost a music legend. Music wouldn’t be the same had Michael not had a part in history. RIP

  • For me, MJ seemed immortal. I mean, he was so visible in media when I was a kid (*remembers Black and White vid with Mc), and this news is a real shocker.

Now, I have the urge to listen to his songs.

    P.S.
Watch David Cook’s version of Billy Jean during his Idol years.

  • On TV right now they are talking about how he was probably doing the comeback concert in London just for the 50 million he was going to get from it. They are also saying he might not have much money left to his name.
I think it would be good if people didn’t get refunds and maybe gave some of that money to help the children. Not that they need 50 million, but just enough to help them.

  • I burst out in tears on the bus hearing this. To me, Michael was the last of the mythical icons of this world. It just seems so incredibly surreal. My thoughts go out to his family and his children.

  • I wasn’t the biggest fan of Michael Jackson but he had a few songs that I absolutely love. Even though he was kind of a weirdo, I’m getting a little teary-eyed. I mean, he’s gone. ='[

  • I, too, have goosebumps and have had them since I heard the report of his possible death on the radio earlier today. “Bad” was my first record (yes, record). Say what you want about his private life, but there is no denying his talent. There is definitely no one in the music world (and possibly the entire world) more widely known than Michael Jackson and his presence on Earth will be missed.

  • I can’t believe people feel anything for this child molester. The only reason he got away with it was because he bought the victim’s silence.

    Amazing.

    • I truly do not believe he was a child molester. he was way too trusting. he thought of himself as a child due to the abuse he experienced and always wanted to be in the company of children.i followed the last case closely. did you? most ppl dont pay attention to facts and they just run with the hearsay.

      • I never said he wasn’t abused, and I did follow the case. Hey, maybe you wouldn’t have minded leaving your twelve-year-old child or other loved one with him, but I sure as hell wouldn’t.

    • Apparently Donkey Punch was there to witness it all. You are one of those people that think the worst of every situation and believe every negative thing you hear about someone aren’t you?

  • WOah. Just last week I was looking through some vinyls and ran into Thriller. My boyfriend made me buy it saying “maybe it’ll be worth something when he dies”.

  • I wasn’t a huge fan. But I have respected MJ my whole life. And I feel inexplicably saddened about all recent events :(

  • I still have my MJ doll, minus a few accessories. I knew he probably wouldn’t live a long life, but this is shocking. He did have a lot of issues but I don’t know that the allegations against him with true. I think maybe he just had an extremely different and skewed interaction with children due to his upbringing. He has lived a surreal life since a very young age. I don’t know, I am no expert. I got in my car and it was MJ all over the radio. Every time I go out to and they play MJ, I bolt for the dance floor. And I was jealous that he was going to perform in London and I couldn’t go. What a magnificent influence he had on the music world. The biggest icon of my generation is gone. This is just awful.

  • Oh shit, I just thought of something… where is Patrick Swayze?! Someone check on Patrick Swayze!!!!

  • Seriously, guys? He was a child molester. A friggin PEDOPHILE. Music is only a SMALL part of who he was, he wasn’t onstage or in the studio 24/7.

I feel for his family’s loss, but not the end of the life of a child molester.

    • “Music is only a SMALL part of who he was”
      ^ imbecile.
Michael Jackson was completely, and utterly an entertainer. When other children were coloring in drawings of teddy bears and learning to add and subtract in first year of school, Jackson was singing and dancing his little heart out like no other person on earth could. THAT is why he is ( :( was), and hopefully always will be, a legend. He worked so hard for music and sacrificed beyond what anyone else ever has or will (amongst other things, a sound mental state) for generations of entertainment, what the hell have you done to the world to even think about scummming up the death of an idol with your pathetic opinions?
And I feel I have to slowly articulate this AGAIN so you retards can understand, if you have the mental capacity: HE WAS NEVER CONVICTED BY ANYONE EXCEPT THE PUBLIC. He was never actually convicted for any sort of child abuse (and please, if you guys HONESTLY believe such a high profile case which disturbed so many could be “paid off” like some commenters said I’ve truly lost my faith in peoples intellect) yet you throw around the word paedophile at his memory, playing down ACTUAL paeodophiles who ruin lives and can lead to child murder and many other sick, sad things.
Do some reaserch into human psychology (or everybody do me a favour and actually talk

Do some research into human psychology (or everybody do me a favour and actually talk about stuff you know rather than what everyone else is talking about since theres something lacking in your mental capacity if you can’t verify an idea before you run to the keyboard) and you might understand Michael Jackson’s lifelong plight of being the boy who just never got a chance to grow up.

  • You know, I think you should put a picture of him when he was a kid or a teenager. It’s what I want to remember him by… not his freaky, ghoulish years.

  • I would like to know how the hell his kids are not part black AT ALL. There is no way he could be the father. I mean he IS black for Christ’s sake. What’s up with that? Are they adopted or something?

    • There are issues, that need to be addressed!! Media outlets continuously write that they are in no way associated with the amount of damage that is done to any one particular celebrity. There are other examples, but we need to stay on topic. Pictures have surfaced on the internet (& elsewhere) of Michael Jackson’s dead body. This is a complete violation of the rights of the Jackson family. This violation is in extremely poor taste, to anyone. Those media companies need to be sued, for damages, and this should be set as an example that no member of any media outlet has the right to do so. Because they are a member of the same profession, many examples of what they use as they’re rights should be revoked.

    • He’s at peace now. At peace from people that feel they have to ask I would would like to know how the hell his kids are not part black? Peace from the rumors, of illness, snickering”s and mean comments about his plastic surgery, anything & everything that made his life a living hell. A**holes that have to hear this gossip and create it at the same time, can get to him. Michael Jackson had to die to get the hell away from people like you R.I.P.

  • It sadden,s my heart to hear of Michael Jackson,s death. My heart goes out to the family. R.I.P.

  • We will always have his music… timeless modern classics…but the world is a much nicer, safer place without him in it!

  • i was at work and a coworker walked in my office and said, “did you hear? michael jackson died!” then quickly walked back out again, leaving me standing there with my jaw hanging open, absolutely shocked. i dont know what it is. he’s really been gone for years now. but it hurts.

i think secretly i hoped for the day he would be michael again, and didn’t question that it would come. i guess i loved him unconditionally, for when he began to alienate the world, i simply stopped the clock and kept him as old as he was when he was making all that great music. i wasnt willing to give up my idol and turned the other cheek to the ugly reality. i will miss him.

  • ……… ( Goodbye Michael… you may not be a great role model, nevertheless, my friends and all ur true fans will know you as the King of Pop. Your music will be remembered forever. ) …………………

  • I couldn’t believe this when I first heard it! Wow. Whatever the ups and downs, the man was a legend. RIP.

  • I heard he actually died from skin cancer.

He held a positive attitude to the end saying, ‘don’t blame it on the sunshine..’

  • Newsflash: new reports suggest Michael is still alive! However, he was last seen in the children’s ward having a stroke…

  • That’s “NOT” funny! It’s just cruel. Anyone that would suggest that Michael Jackson was guilty, of the crime he was accused of is sick. Michael Jack was found completely innocent. It never made sense to me that he would be accused, (only at Neverland ranch) not in any other place. The accusations are a deep sickness. Not one that would be confined to just one place. It’s a sick uncontrollable urge. One I believe Michael Jackson was never guilty of regardless of how many people think differently, or that he was accused twice.
