Not everyone can pull a Madonna or Angelina and just adopt half the continent, but a bunch of celebs are “chipping” in to help the people of Darfur at the World Series of Poker this year. (Did you see what I did there with the “chip” thing? Wasn’t that funny? I’m pleased with it.)
On July 2, Don Cheadle — who starred in 2004′s Hotel Rwanda — is once again hosting the third annual Ante Up for Africa No Limit Texas Hold-Em Tournament in association with the World Series of Poker. Proceeds from the event will go to charities that provide aid and assistance to the survivors of the crisis in Darfur, Sudan and support activism dedicated to resolving this crisis. In the past, Ante Up tournaments have raised more than $2 million for the cause.
Among those confirmed to participate are Matt Damon, Jason Alexander, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, Montel Williams, Herschel Walker, Hank Azaria, Brad Garrett, Marlon Wayans, Sarah Silverman and Casey Affleck. My Lord. I really, really, really want to see the Charles Barkley/Sarah Silverman poker showdown. The jokes practically write themselves.

There was always something about Don Cheadle’s nature that I liked. Good show.
It’s funny that the people doing it are mostly people who aren’t all over the media all the time, or maybe I just live in a place where we never hear about them..

Ah, yes. English doesn’t really allow us to be especially clear with the use of “at.” Other languages do much better with it, but I guess here in the US we’ll just use it as a reason to hit the sack. :)
What we need to do as Americans is live nicely, fight for freedoms everywhere regardless of how difficult it is.. show more moral restraint in our actions, laud our freedoms, praise God and His many loving kindnesses to us, get rid of liberal dogma that makes us appear crude and irresponsible, and treat everyone repect and kindness.. Don’t take drugs, drink until you are drunk, walk around half naked and appear to be a Satanic worshipper…. etc.
I through Don Cheadle was amazing and overlooked in Traitor. It expresses the dichotomy between being an American Muslim, and an African immigrant. It’s a great watch, amazingly written by Steve Martin.
