“You just have to realize who the governor is and who the little puppy is. This kid’s great he’s a got a lot of talent. He doesn’t really have a rock’n’roll voice…he should be the singer in Queen or be on Broadway, but mostly he should shut up about his sexual preferences. Me, America and the rest of the world doesn’t really care. I mean if the story becomes ‘I prefer farm animals to…’, who cares? Be quiet about what you do indoors and go out there and sing.”

Gene Simmons talking to FOX Philadelphia about how Adam Lambert needs to shut up about his sexual orientation and how he needs to figure out his place in the pecking order of rock stars.

Incidentally, who thinks Gene Simmons needs to shut up?  I’m raising my hand here.

I’d like to cosign on the Gene Simmons comment. Seriously who cares that he is gay, wasnt it always obvious?

    • Robin says:

      I agree.
I mean, it’s not like he really insulted Adam, he just wants people to bring their focus back to what’s important.. the music.

  2. I want to kick gene simmons in his balls.

  3. Anonymous says:

Na, Gene Simmons should keep talking. He’s got a point. A great one at that.

  4. medimary says:

I freaking LOVE LOVE LOVE gene simmons. all the way back to fifth grade and “beth” up until today…..

    that’ll never change.

  5. firsttimecaller says:

I actyally read the FULL quote from Gene on another site. Although Gene is fully credentialed to give his opinion about rock and roll, I feel the way he stated it was a bit rude. And I’m not sure what he meant about Adam joining Queen or Broadway. I certainly hope he’s not claiming QUEEN isn’t rock!!! IDK…as obvious as it always was that Adam was gay…it was the public (ala multimedia) that couldn’t shut up about it. All he did was confirm it. It’s not like he’s suddlenly turned all Perez “Everyone Should Be Gay” Hilton on us.

  6. Michelle says:

Gene Simmons is just mad because Adam Lambert makes platforms look hotter. Definitely not as rock’n'roll, but hotter.

  7. Rox says:

This from a man who constantly brags about what a stud he is and how many women he bangs. Pot, kettle. HELLO!

  8. violet says:

dude, it doesn’t matter WHO this came from—what gene said is totally right. i’m sick of hearing about lambert’s orientation. that’s nice. but stop *selling* your orientation— sell the records you attention whore.

  9. Gillian says:

Old washed up rock stars with reality tv show rock!
But seriously, he is so right about Adam. Nobody really cared wether he was gay or not, well except for Perez Hilton.
I guess age really does bring some wisdom, at least in reference to “rock n’ roll.”

  10. Joe says:

GO GENE, GO…I am getting SOOOOO sick of all these “Gay” people nowadays…I have known so many that do it because it is the “in” thing…

    • Anonymous says:

HAHAH yeah. I’m sure you could make yourself want to suck dick JUST to be cooler. Cuz I heard gay people have very easy lives. OOOOkay

  11. Andi says:

This is a very interesting point of view from a gossip blogger.

  12. Clambrosia says:

This comment came from a guy who brags CONSTANTLY about the supposed THOUSANDS of women he has had casual sex with? I mean… was he kidding???

  13. Ms. Kitka says:

Gene Simmons is an awesome family man, regardless of his Rock and Roll party life… Adam does need to SHUT his pie hole!

  14. Tracey says:

Well if we think about the old days and movie stars, or singers. Did you really ever know they were gay? Unless it was obvious of course, but no one ever talked about it they just concentrated on the singing..or the acting. I totally agree with Gene Simmons.

    • Donkey Punch says:

Ah yes, the good old days. When black men could be dragged behind cars to their deaths and the white drivers could get away with it. When men legally could beat their wives with a stick no thicker than their thumb. When tobacco companies told you smoking was good for your health. When artists where black listed from working because the government thought they were communists. Yup them were some good ‘ole days.

Will Beet cover the fact that Obozo’s DOJ is going to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court?

DOMA is the federal statute that says state X, which prohibits gay marriage, can’t be forced to recognize a gay marriage performed in state Y. Candidate Obama opposed it in 2007. Two years later, Change has come to America. Question: Why does the president hate gay people?

    • Ashley says:

I don’t think he hates gay people; he just doesn’t give a fuck about them. Except when he is lying through his teeth to get votes and donations — just like many other politicians.

  16. mcbiscuit says:

I don’t think Gene Simmons needs to prove himself as a musician. Adam Lambert definitely does, but probably never will. Maybe once Adam has fronted a successful band for 30 years he will earn the right to crap on about his private life, and maybe then someone will care.

  17. DeeDee says:

Gene is right and he ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Klipper says:

I’m kinda sick of hearing about the guy’s sexual orientation too. Who cares what some kid from a popular karaoke show likes to put in his butt. Not me.
What I do care about is the pic of Gene Simmons. At first glance, I thought he had a COBRA symbol on the chest area of his jacket. Kiss and COBRA would be an unstoppable force that even GI JOE couldn’t handle.

  19. Donkey Punch says:

Interesting. When I was a kid and Kiss was very new the Conservative Christians hated them. They blasted them for being satanic. Eventually Christians grew up a little and no longer demonized Kiss.

Perhaps some day the Conservative Christians will grow up a little bit more and stop demonizing homosexuals.

    • mcbiscuit says:

There’s nothing grown up about having imaginary friends. Once people stop with that, we can all move on.

      • Raven says:

Only a total idiot can say that christianity or any faith is about “having imaginary friends”.
If all your life is concentrated on eating, shitting, and banging, than you have no right to call yourself grown-up or even human. That’s pathetic. Now move on and get the hell out of here.

      • Kevinisstupid says:

As opposed to eating, shitting, banging, and talking to imaginary people?

      • mamie says:

talking to imaginary friends gives emotional depth to eating, shitting and banging

      • Donkey Punch says:

Raven, have you seen God? Do you have ANY evidence that he/she exists other than a 2000 year old document written by men that believed the sun revolved around the Earth and that the planet was flat?

Do you always trust the written word of men that practically lived in caves?

  20. Grace says:

I’m totally with Gene Simmons on this (and with Donkey Punch and his comments on the ‘good’ old days). I think perhaps he should take some of his own advice, though, when it comes to talking about his own sex life.

  21. Reno says:

I’ll second that Wendie. How many years and years have we all had to hear about Gene’s sexual exploits? He even recently made a commercial that referenced his sex-drive. Why should Adam shut-up when a 50-60 something old man is flopping his trap about sex?!?!?!

  22. pebobryson says:

his hair looks like insulation that some one used a permanent marker on

  23. Jessie says:

Why has this been the only update all day? What’s up?

  24. NinaS says:

Who gives a rat’s round furry butt about Gene’s opinion about anything? And I am so over Adam. So not interesting in the least.

  25. Ratso says:

    I completely agree with simmons.

  26. Liv says:

I totally agree. At this point his sexual orientation overshadows any talent he has. That’s stupid when you want to establish yourself as a singer and not a 15 minute-er.

  27. Mr Rogers says:

With any luck, we’ll forget about Adam Lambert until he creates something musically relevant. Simmons is right, perhaps we wish someone with more conservative values has said it, but yes, let’s focus on the music.
And BTW, the ‘cakehole”, as many have called it, is an exit, not an entrance. If you’re going to use it differently than the way Mother Nature intended it, than shut up about it, and keep it to yourself.

  28. FARMERCARL says:

    WENDIE

    Always defending the perv!!

  29. Tako says:

Well, in that case, me, america and the rest of the world, dont give a fuck about him or his retarded family either.. he says nobody cares what they do indoors, but yet he’s the one with the ridiculous reality show… what a fucking idiot.

  30. MissLeeLoo says:

ok, sorry, but is it just me or is everyone else and NOT Adam talking about his sexuality? I mean, they keep asking him, talking about it… What? The fact that he’s seen in public with his bf is “flaunting” it? And I was kind of thrown off by that Queen comment too…

    • Ashley says:

omg ya thats what i said too. adam hardly ever talks about it excepts for in rolling stone and in that one interview on abc news. every one else is always bugging him about it.

  31. W00t says:

Well, its not adam’s fault, its all those crazy tabloids and paparatzzi that won’t leave the subject alone, I mean, Adam just wants to make music, he’s happy the way he is, it the freakin’ media that wont leave him alone!.

  32. Ashley says:

k, gene simmons says that adam lambert is ruining his career by talking about his sexuality and that he thinks adam should be quiet about his inside life and focus on only his music, because nobody cares what goes on behind the cameras? when i heard him say this stuff the first thing i thought was that gene simmons is being a really big hypocrite in this situation. I mean, he’s telling Adam that no one cares about his inside life, but doesn’t gene simmons have his own reality show ABOUT HIS INSIDE LIFE?!? i mean, seriously.

  33. Glitz says:

Gene is the former or ex-governor, and Adam is the governor-training. But since his 72-stop U.S. sold-out tour and his beginning world-wide tour, I do believe he’ll skip that step and go straight (or gayly forward, as an old friend used to say) to King of the World. For all those last year who were sooo glad AFL’s “15 minutes” were up, all I can say is, “‘Fess up – did ya break down and go see his Glam Nation tour this summer?” I paid a fortune to go twice, third row, and it was money well-spent. The boy is going to be a legend.

(I know this is a year later than the other comments, and nobody’s going to read it, but gotta stick up for BB.)

  34. Glitz says:

Oh, yeh. God is laughing at you right now. It’s kinda like you giggling about an ant thinking he’s all that.
