Jon Voight on C-SPAN — More Effective Than Ambien

You know what’s weird?  Brad Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston who is estranged from her mother.  Now he’s with Angelina Jolie who is estranged from her father.  I’m sure there’s some deep psychological reason why Brad selects women who have dysfunctional parent relationships.

And though I think people should try their hardest to maintain contact with family, I understand that it can’t always be worked out.  Today, I am understanding the rift between Angelina and her father a whole lot more than I did before.

If you’re at work, and staying awake is a requirement, you may not want to watch eight plus minutes of Jon Voight, on C-span no less.  Oy.  Let me give you the highlight:  Voight called for an end to “this false prophet Obama.”  People are mad and some bloggers are even implying that the bloated actor was calling for Barack’s assassination.  I may not personally agree with Jon Voight’s politics, and I may personally think that he sounds a bit nuts, but I don’t think he was talking about murder…just about the 2010 election.  What say you?

  • He has completely lost his marbles!
no wonder Angelina wants nothing to do with him
Her kids are too precious to expose them to this nutter

  • didn’t even watch it but…but seriously, actors need to just stick to acting. Some people think they become “experts” once they’re reached a certain level of fame and wealth…annoying. Her father is probably the reason SHE’s a nut ball

  • I think he’s an idiot and it’s dangerous. This is the way fanatics appeal to those lone wolf nuts out their to do their biding. It’s the equivalent of a hit or a fatwa. Good for Jolie for not dealing with him.

  • I like how people don’t agree with his speech so they just chalk him up to being “nuts”. Such an educated society we have making decisions today

      • He is not nuts, that is my point. Just becuase his opinion differs from mainstream society does not make him crazy. The fact that people don’t agree with him is a much different statement than “he has completely lost his marbles”. Who wants to live in a society where everyone has the same opinion? OH WAIT, 95% of America is mindless robots who do what they are told and believe what the media tells them. Maybe they should educate themselves before making desicions such as who to run our country.

  • I have always thought Voight and Jolie were both nuts.

She just got better at keeping her crazy in check. Up till she divorce Billy Bob, every time she open her mouth all kinds of crazy fell out of it.

Sadly, he is definitely getting a little nuttier as time goes by.

  • I agree with Anonymous’s choice of word: “dangerous.”

It’s just as misguided to call our president a “false prophet” as it is to call him the next messiah. God and Satan don’t have sovereignty over the White House, God doesn’t pick presidents, and it’s that very misuse of religious thought and language that fuels imperialism and holy wars. Dangerous territory, and really disturbing.

  • As a non-American who has lived in America and is married to an American, I cannot understand how any American could be EMBARRASSED by Obama. Disagree with his politics, sure, but if American’s believe that their embarrassment is in the face of the rest of the world, I guarantee you, they are misguided. Through Obama, the US has reignited people’s belief about the value of the USA. Rather than thinking that you’re all a bunch of culture-less warmongers with low IQs, with the election of Obama, we are reminded of the cultural achievements of the US, and what great things the US has done. Whether or not you agree with Obama’s politics, you should wear his class, intelligence and charisma as a badge of honour.

  • Could not get video (but I think it’s me/latest Firefox/AT&T and not you guys), but I have always admired Voight for standing up for the Financial Core actors in Hollywood (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/misc/?id=1672&p=.htm). And for me it was the Kool Aid factor that kept me from throwing myself under the Obama bandwagon (Don’t Ask-him for his birth certificate coz he Won’t Tell you where it is ! OMG, it’s a fricking birth certificate, just release it already ! If you can command Stephen Colbert to shave his head, do you really not have time to address your place of birth ? ). That being said, he and his daughter both drive in the extreme lane, and I’m happy not to be carpooling with either of them ….

  • Who cares what he has to say…

Why is it not okay to have celebrities say good things about Obama, but okay for celebrities to say not so good things about Obama?

It seems the Republicans want to have their cake and eat it too…

  • LMAO @ myself….

    I meant to type:

Why is it okay for celebrities to not say anything good about Obama?
