Joss Stone’s Freedom Is Worth Millions To Her

When an artist records a song titled “Free Me” and it’s directed towards her record label, it may be time to part ways.

Joss Stone is the latest in a long line of artists who is trying to get away from the EMI label.  Rolling Stones, Radiohead and Supergrass have all exited since the company was purchased by an investment firm in 2007.  The moral:  Bankers become bankers because they aren’t artistic.  Bankers shouldn’t be in the music business.  Duh.

Stone has offered to give up almost four million bucks in payments owed to her, in return for being released from her contract.  EMI has taken legal action against Joss for not delivering her latest album “Colour Me Free” by a December 31st, 2008 deadline.

All of this tumult really raises more critical questions:  Has anyone been missing Joss Stone’s music while all this debate is happening?  Also, do you think Joss Stone forgot her pants?

  • I’m just going to throw it out there because I’m one of “those” people.. but ‘towards’ is not a word.

  • Actually, it is. It is a variation of toward and is generally accepted when used as a preposition.

  • some people really have missed joss stone’s music. she’s a very talented young lady who really knows how to perform to a live audience. in a world full of cookie-cutter pop stars, joss stands out from the crowd with her amazing vocals and ability to channel the 60s artists she admires in both musical style and clothing.

  • And more importantly, she looks fantastic in that dress. We’ll look past her hair for a moment, but seriously, do you know how hard it is to pull off a dress like that? Rockin’ bod, sister.

  • She did forget her pants. On the floor next to my bed. We couldn’t find her panties either.

  • I LOVE Joss! Her music and live performamces are really awesome. Can’t wait for her to put out a new C.D. I will buy it for sure. And she looks great in the picture.

  • She looks great, but more importantly she is amazingly talented and makes great music. She’s so refreshing compared to the over-processed over-produced Britneys of the world (Sorry Beet).
