Don’t worry. I’ve got you covered. No need to do anything productive. You can waste your entire day playing another one of those games where you have to find the movie titles in the painting. It’s here. These things are incredibly addictive. I’m probably out for the rest of the day until I finish mine. Enjoy!

Aspiring neurosurgeon Kavya Shivashankar can really spell.  After ousting eleven finalists at the Scripps National Spelling Bee, the 13-year-old was crowned the best spelling in the world under the age of fourteen.  More than just the title and a huge mother lode of a trophy, she also won $40,000 which should pay for about fifteen minutes of medical school.

Perseverance counts; In the past three years Shivashankar placed 10th, eighth, and fourth.  The word that ensured her win was Laodicean.  Eek.

I wasn’t going to mention this, but it’s time for a confession:  I don’t know why, but whenever I watch these national spelling bees, I cry.  I don’t know if it’s anxiety or awe that I feel, probably a mixture of both.  Of course my reaction might also be related to memories of my own elementary school spelling bee defeat in which the prize was a Tears for Fears album.

Billy Crystal appeared on the Tonight Show last night and sang a tribute to host Jay Leno on his second-to-last episode.  In a true example of history coming full circle, Crystal was Leno’s first Tonight Show guest 17 years ago.

Leno will be back on the air in the fall with a new show that airs during primetime — except in Boston.

The City “actress” Whitney Port on the streets of New York City wearing what can only be described as “What Every Girl Wore My Junior Year Of High School.”  What do you think?

June 8th’s print edition — those still exist? — of In Touch magazine tells the story of the Jon & Kate Plus 8producers helping Jon Gosselin find an apartment close to the $1.2M manse that is camera-friendly.  Personally, I’d like to know what apartment exists anywhere that is eight-kids-friendly.  Currently, Jon has been staying in Huntington, PA near his parents which is about three hours away from his wife and kids.  The Gosselins are reportedly worth $10M.  Jon can’t afford a small house?

Anyway, hearing that the show producers are helping find some suitable housing for Jon confirms one thing:  the fat lady hasn’t sung yet.  This circus show will go on.

Listen, I’ve already got three kids, I’d hardly notice another eight.  I want all the “marketable” Gosselins to come live with me.  I promise, the only cameras they would have to tolerate is my Canon Rebel.  And, I can kind of cook.

The details are still fuzzy but the ex-wife of Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer has been arrested on charges of felony child abuse.

Actress Sarah Trigger Cryer was arrested yesterday in Hermosa Beach, California after police arrived and discovered a child with rope or cord marks on his neck.  They also recovered a weapon that they believe was involved in the (alleged!) abuse.  Bail was set at $100,000 and Cryer was released last night.

It hasn’t been confirmed that the child in question is the one born of Jon and Sarah, but they did have one son named Charlie Austin who was born in 2000.

If these allegations are true, I just have one question:  How is that monster free and on the streets today?
