Taylor Momsen and her band, Pretty Reckless, performed in Tuesday at a club in NYC. It’s the first we’ve seen of this band of Taylor’s, which is supposedly touring with The Veronicas this summer.
I have to admit, as much as I love Taylor, this does nothing for me. Especially compared to my beloved Taylor Swift.
So who’s the better Gossip Girl singer? Taylor, or Leighton Meester, whose single leaked earlier this week?

while i like the actual music, i will admit that i pressed play, watched a few seconds, and then clicked over to another tab so i could listen without having to watch her. all i can think of when i see her with that kind of stage presence is that she’s only fifteen. i just…i don’t know, it just doesn’t match the fact that she’s still too young to drive, you know? but again, i loved the sound.
she’s brilliant actually, finally someone not being pseudo and doing mainstream music like leighton or heidi montag, indierock / rock – stage present fantastic as well, kudos for being able to sing like that live, i don’t want to hear leighton live, honestly.

I actually like the sound! But she looks old… not at all 15. I can’t believe she’s my age. But I’m into that type of music, and I’m also glad she’s not trying to do mainstream like all the other teen celebrities. Just as long as she doesn’t start doing drugs or whatever, I’m fine.
And her voice is awesome, too. Not in a goosebumps way… it’s just unique and not trashy like Hannah Montana’s.
i’m not a fan but i’m more concerned that you can see the girl’s hipbones through her dress. she needs to put on some weight…she’s a great and cute actress and i’d hate to see her become another anorexic 15 year old bc of hollywood.

I’s like to see Leighton sing her song live and sound as good as this…actually no…i’d really really not want to see that….
It’s nice to see a hollywood kid making music that isn’t overproduced, synthesised and over hyped. I wouldn’t have even known she had a band if not for Jess from The Veronicas twittering about it.

I’m just really happy she is in a “real band” and is playing small shows and then touring. Like bands are supposed to. It’s WORK. Not like “oh I ‘leaked’ a single on the internet, when is my stadium show?”
I think she’s great! I can’t say I’d listen to her music but I’m stoked she’s doing her own thing.
That sort of reminded me of Owen Wilson’s Sting quote in Zoolander.
I think she has potential – it will be interesting to see what she is doing in 10 years.

i actually lurve her throaty voice. it’s kinda sexy coming from a 15 yr old. surprising good, i think she’s got room for potential. a lot better than that poppy sh*te that’s going around on the radio these days. i wish i were a teen again, so i wouldn’t feel so guilty about listening to her music! heehee

hopefully she doesn’t end up like most musicians..i.e. courtney love. or all those other skinny kids. i agree, she does need at lease 5-10 pounds of meat on her.
oh yeah and she’ll be opening for the veronicas! which i think is cool cuz a lot of those kids will be introduced to a slightly different kind of music, rather than lots of electronic beats.

Taylor is trying to be this edgy, heroin chic, rocker and she just isn’t. what she is is a 15 year old who’s trying to hard and should probably be in doing homework on a school night instead of singing in a bar.
The whole Courtney Love thing’s been done and methinks there are better people out there to be like than her.
i’ve never watched gossip girl and i’ve never been that interested in taylor momsen, but i like this rock star thing on her. i like that she’s in a band rather than just parlaying her acting into a solo deal – not that girls who do are *necessarily* lacking talent – i like that she doesn’t feel the need to over-justify herself by masquerading with a stereotypical rock look, and i actually dig this music.
not that it’s super important, but taylor momsen just got kind of way cool in my eyes.
I like her voice but something about this screams ‘courtney love’ and we dont need another incoherent tweeter around
