Stephen Hawking Hospitalized — It’s Serious

stephen_hawking

Our thoughts and prayers are with brilliant physicist Stephen Hawking and his family, as he has been hospitalized near London for a chest infection he’s been fighting for several weeks. Professor Hawking, 67, has lived with ALS (or Lou Gehrig’s Disease) since the age of 21, and has been almost entirely paralyzed for most of his life.

“Professor Hawking is very ill,” said Gregory Hayman, Cambridge University head of communications. “He is undergoing tests. He has been unwell for a couple of weeks.”

The world would take a huge hit if we lost this man of both genius and wisdom. We hope you pull through this, Professor Hawking!!!

  • Prayers for his health? Isn’t this going against God’s will? Obviously God wants him sick otherwise it wouldn’t be happening.

    • Hawking is an atheist, so I’m sure he would appreciate the thoughts rather than the prayers. Prayers are notably ineffective anyway, due to the imaginary nature of God.

  • How heartbreaking. This man is such an innovator, not to mention brilliant and simply a wonderful role model to boot. My prayers go out to his family.

      • ugh. dp u are so annoying when it comes to the “God” subject. Get over yourself! We get it…u don’t believe in God. Doesn’t mean others don’t! It’s really immature to mock them for their beliefs. Your EXTREMELY funny, but come on. We can pray for those we want to pray for without your sarcasm. It’s just not necessary.

  • Wow. My brother is an EMT and he transported Stephen Hawking sometime last week in L.A. I asked him if he was in his chair, and my brother said he was laying down the whole time and was completely out of it. So sad.

  • Yeah, agreed about HIPAA. That’s not cool of your brother to pass on something like that.

I hope Mr. Hawking gets better, but something tells me this won’t end well. Intelligence such as his is rare; even more rare is that it’s celebrated.

  • his books are fascinating and -i’ll admit this- waaaay over my head in the physics-type department, but i am always intrigued by what prof. hawking has to say. i hope he gets better soon and continues to confound/enlighten us with his theories.
