Can We Get A Number One Movie That Doesn’t Have A Disney Star In The Cast?

Oh, they’re just being Disney-bots!

Zac Efron has taken over first place in the movie game with a weekend haul of $24.1M in ticket sales for his flick 17 Again, knocking that Hannah Montana movie down to fourth place with $12.7M.

Have I mentioned that my son cannot stand the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus package?  He’s kind of an original-if anything becomes too popular, he has to go find some obscure replacement to pick as his favorite.  To totally rattle his cage and really for my own sick enjoyment, I had my mother suggest that they go see Hannah Montana:  The Movie this week while he’s on school vacation.  He looked like a deer in headlights and just nodded politely whilst whimpering.  I don’t know where that kid gets his courtesy from.

The second place movie was State of Play with Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck.  Right around the time I was realizing I am an embarrassment to my profession since I’ve never heard of this movie, my friend Melissa emailed to say that she saw it and it was okay.  Not wonderful.  I have to talk to her about expounding.

1. “17 Again,” $24.1 million.

2. “State of Play,” $14.1 million.

3. “Monsters vs. Aliens,” $12.9 million.

4. “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” $12.7 million.

5. “Fast & Furious,” $12.3 million.

6. “Crank: High Voltage,” $6.5 million.

7. “Observe and Report,” $4.1 million.

8. “Knowing,” $3.5 million.

9. “I Love You, Man,” $3.4 million.

10. “The Haunting in Connecticut,” $3.2 million.

  • Last nite I saw 17 again I always thought this kid Zac was cute but yesterday he changed my mind WOW HE IS FUCKING HOT!!! OMG!!! The movie was good!! by the way fast and the furious what a horrible, stupid movie!!!

  • I wonder if his boyfriend gets pissed every time he opens a magazine and spots his lover Zac cuddling up with that chick from his dance movies.

  • I saw 17 Again on Friday. It was actually quite good. I was sure it was going to be something different but at one point in the movie, Zac proves he’s got some talent. I can’t wait to see what he does once he’s completely out of his High School Musical gym shorts.

  • I work at an elementary school and most of the boys arent about miley or hsm at all…. not shocking
