Yet Another Natasha Richardson Update

But this time it’s good news!

Not only is Natasha not dead, but now TMZ is reporting that she’s not brain dead either. She’s experiencing brain swelling and is sedated, but is NOT brain dead.

Hopefully this is true, and the doctors can get everything under control and save her life! Go modern medicine, go!!!!

  • Why would there be such a rush to report such information? You know, it’s not really important that I find out right away if she is alive/coma/dead anyway. My life goes on. As for her family and friends, as long as they are informed and up to date…

…not sure I’m getting my drift across here or not…

      • Seriously? Is it important to you?

I can’t imagine it being important enough to the general public that they couldn’t take a few hours off until they had factual information regarding her health status.

        I caught your drift.

      • Personally, I don’t know who this woman is.

I just think, to some people, this kind of information is important.

I also think that there’s a huge rush now to be the first to report things.

    • I don’t know if you have ever studied news at all, but timeliness is a huge factor. You know… breaking news? It’s one of the main fundamental points of journalism. And yes, celebrity news is still news nonetheless.

      • Yes, timeliness is important, but MORE important is getting the story RIGHT. It only makes the source look less credible when they issue the wrong statement and have to keep making retractions. I think I’d rather wait for the actual facts to come out before listening to whatever comes down the grapevine..

      • Yes, celebrity news is news, but I consider it more as entertaining (especially when the fine writers on this site put their spin on things) than breaking. And I would really not be ranting and raving all over my house because someone had not told me two hours earlier that this poor woman had succumbed to her injuries. Especially when in that precious time, they would have realized the story wasn’t true anyway. It’s just like JennB said, it’s nice to be first, but atleast get it right.

      • no, I agree with both JennB and rayne. I think that being accurate is far more important than getting the story out first. That’s a huge problem now. Since we live in a digital age, everyone expects news the second that it happens. I am not saying that it is right, I am just saying it is the norm.

and with what rayne said, I also think that celebrity news is more of entertainment, but when it’s a situation like this, it is more newsworthy.

I think it’s such a shame that the initial she-is-dead reports surfaced. I hope the people who FIRST printed it feel awful about it.

    • I totally agree with you. It’s disrespectful to Natasha and her family for these “she’s dead, she’s not dead, she’s braindead” stories being presented as fact. It’s speculation and it’s cruel. Imagine if she was your mom or sister.

  • God, how much would it suck to get the original “she is dead” reports when you are family/friends? Sad. I hope she pulls through.

  • Why do these media people always jump the gun? They’ve been declaring Patrick Swayze to be on death’s door since the day he announced his cancer too. Enough!!!

  • I will leave the same comment I left on the original “R.I.P” post; My thoughts are with the family.

  • I don’t think these news organizations need to be trying to crack this story either. This is a *human being* with a FAMILY! Can you imagine if she were your friend or relative and you read that she had died? I hope she is truly OK and recovers quickly…

  • here’s what i think happened… natasha took a skiing lesson for beginners. maybe she fell down, maybe she didn’t – thing is, she couldn’t have hurt herself THAT bad. i think she wasn’t feeling well, went back to the hotel, felt worse, went to hospital. i think she had a stroke – totally unrelated to skiing ‘incident’. hope she got to the hospital in time.
