I don’t care if they call it a remake or a “re-imagining” — that’s what they’re actually calling it — but I’m still mad about Race to Witch Mountain, because I’m so in love with the original (the pre-imagining?), Escape to Witch Mountain. Regardless of how I feel about it, it beat Watchmen to score the top spot at the box office this weekend, bringing in $25M to Watchmen‘s $18.1M.
“I think audiences this weekend were really drawn to the action adventure of ‘Race to Witch Mountain,'” said the president of Disney’s motion-picture group. “There was also this element of parents over 30 who remembered the original and were drawn to this one, so I think that combination is what helped us exceed what folks in the industry thought this movie was going to do.”
Did anyone actually see the flick this weekend? If you were in love with the original, is it worth seeing this one, or will it just make me even more upset?
i saw it today with my family its pretty good. i think its better than the old one but my wife says i’m crazy
Saw it with my son. Very different from the original but they do pay nice homage – Tony & Tina actually have small parts in the Stony Creek segment, and there are “hat tips” everywhere.
These new kids have way more powers. The Rock is pretty damn hot. It’s a cute movie. Now I have to get hold of the originals so my son can see the real thing.
I took my family to go see it and we all enjoyed it. My kids sat through the whole movie mesmerized so I was happy not to have to chase them up and down the eisles. I haven’t seen the original so I can’t compare, but I thought it was a pretty solid flick. And the Rock is fucking HOT, so that helped. :)

It has Dwayne Johnson in it, who cares if it’s good. He’s so many types of delicious hotness.
it was nothing like the original..but still entertaining..and managed to pay homage to the original…the Rock’s female co-star is a hottie as well
