High Voltage Tattoo

kat-von-d

Kat Von D set up shop in a Borders to sign copies of her new book High Voltage Tattoo.

High Voltage Tattoo is a graphic perspective on today’s global tattoo culture by Kat Von D, star of The Learning Channel’s L.A. Inkand one of the most talented and popular artists working today. Designed in a style that is reminiscent of a handmade Gothic journal with its red padded cover, ornate typography, and parchmentlike pages, it throws the door wide open to tattooing culture in the way only an insider like Kat can.

If you go a grab yourself a copy you’re in for a special treat boys and girls.

There is a knockout ten-page full-body spread of Kat—clad in a yellow bikini and seven-inch, rhinestone-studded red stilettos—that catalogs in detail all her personal tattoos on her front, back, left, and right sides—even her hands and head.

Once you go ahead and jump onto the “head tattoo” train that’s pretty much end of the line for most folks, but not Ms. Von D. It’s only a matter of time before Kat unveils her hooha tat. I’m not sure about how the skin there would take the ink, but given her vast tattoo related experience I’m sure she could find a way…and then put photographs of it in a book for the rest of us to admire.

    • Ya, those tattoos will look really good when she is 40+

Personally I am not a fan of tattoos on women (or men for that matter). It makes women look hard and sleazy.

      • She is soooo GROSS. Those star tats on her face look like liver spots gone awry. Someone needs to chill the fuck out on the ink. Forget about aging gracefully. Saggy stars aren’t gonna be too cute.

      • u suck the fuck up cause kat von d may be a hero or an idol to some people and she can do what ever the fuck she want mayby ure the one who thinks she so ugly which shes not. if u dotn like kat von d then u dont got no taste . word

      • shes not a man she is a woman and she is sexy .maybe u got no taste. and have u seen some other pictures this is just 4. so…………….

  • Wasn’t she the one that got caught saying racist shit? I remember one of the girls got caught being racist from one of these tattoo reality shows. Just can’t remember if it is her.

  • Nasty; I like my share of tat’s and piercings (not to date but to run home), but she’s going to look terrible in the not to distant future (actually now). A gang bang semen party couldn’t cover all of those tramp stamps.

    Cheers,

    Derek

  • Can we talk about the super curvy hottie in the “Who is the Sexiest Vegetarian?” ad to the right??

    Cheers,

    Derek

    • She’s a cutie all right, though I think she’d look better without the zombie-fied grin.

I went to the site and picked the top five or ten (whatever it was) sexy vegetarian and vegans already. I love surveys!!

  • Yeah, no thanks. Her and her terrible attitude can go suck one off. I like tats, I have quite a few myself… But this broad crosses the line from kitchy to self-absorbed twat.

    • I agree completely. I first liked her on Miami Ink…then she started to turn me off a little. Now I just can’t stand her. She always looks like she needs a bath. Certainly a new attitude or personality wouldn’t hurt. Blech.

  • They DO do ‘hoo-ha’ tatoos…Just so you know. I saw one in a parlour that looked like a bull, and its ‘nose’ was a rather *sensitive* piece of lady anatomy…this was pierced to look like a ring through the bull’s nostrils. Yeah.

    • That. Is. TERRIBLE.

However, I do adore the star tattoo’s Kat has over her left eye. I’d love to do that, but with less stars, except I have a feeling I would change my mind really quickly.

  • Good lord I can’t even imagine how painful it would be to get a tattoo on your temple! That kind of pain tolerance is enviable … I think.

  • I love Miami Ink – there is something so nosey about hearing the stories of the tattoos people choose.

I have one very large artwork, but its discreetly placed and I love it – not such a big fan of little bits and bobs everywhere on bodies. But each to their own.

  • i really love miami ink, and i think she looks gorgeous.
i’m not a big fan of tattoo’s and piercings, but i think they look good on her

  • Getting a tattoo is so not cool. It doesn’t make you an individual any more than buying Mac products do. You are still following like a sheep.

    • you’re cute. did you just write this to try to get a fight?

I think tats can be cool. Or no tats. To each their own. I think her level is pretty ridiculous, but oh well

  • I think she is kind of ugly. If you take away the tats, she has nothing special. And she seriously looks like 10 years older than she is

  • <3 Kat Von D

Being someone with a few tatts myself I understand why she has so many, unless you’re just someone following a trend of getting a butterfly/tribal on your lower back or are generally a dumbass then a tattoo is a really personal thing, you should never get one unless it means something to you.
I can’t wait to get the rest of mine ^-^

    • oh, but I can’t stand people who love tats that judge other people for their ‘not-as-cool’ tats. annoying

      • *serious eyebrow raise*

Who said anything about “not-as-cool” tatts?
There are tattoos I don’t like but if the person got it for a reason other than it was the flash art on the wall then I’m not going to judge

      • some people just take tats so seriously. some of the heavily tatted people I know are overly judgemental about other people’s tats. it’s soooo annoying.

  • She just looks dirty.

I was driving past Chapters the other day (Canada’s version of Borders) and saw she was going to be there for a book signing. She looks more like the junkies and derelicts hanging around out front than the Starbucks loving crowd inside.

  • Tattoos aren’t for everyone. I have no desire to get one.

HOWEVER, I enjoy the TLC shows and think that if you have a valid reason to get one – as opposed that you just think it makes you look like a cool, bad-ass, then good for for you.

    Diversity is a nice thing.

AND, on Kat von Dee, I LOVE the tattoos – they suit her and I think she has true artistic talent.

  • c’mon, body art can be tight. i don’t have any body mods, but i dig them — i think alterations are interesting dimensions to people and can be quite fascinating. tattoos are the same as any type of cosmetic surgery, in my opinion, and obviously we know both can be either tasteful or tasteless.

since soleil brought it up, one of my favorite tattoos ever (i love the sheer creativity and also how awesome it would be to surprise someone with it) is this very nsfw photo — fair warning:

    • I like the idea, but the tattoo itself I dont think I like. It lookes poor quality.

thats a nice pussy though – if you had a big messy one you couldn’t do it, though you could make a moth tattoo I guess.

  • She may be pretty but I think she’s got a lot of issues when it comes to her relationships, she always puts everything in the public eye like she is so in love with this guy, or he is her soulmate, the next minute she dumps him and finds another guy and does the same thing..

I think she is talented but just really overrated…

  • she’s really pretty. tho all of that body art is going to look absolutely awful as she gets older. imagine that at 40+ or as a senior citizen. yikes.

  • Didn’t she announce that she was pregnant a while back?? What ever became of that?

  • Well I really don’t know but as of the last episode of LA INK I saw televised Kat Was hot to trot with Niki Six from Motley Crew ANd I recall her seeing Orby Roy Orbison’s Son. Man it just seems like Kat sure is quite a Slut banging all of the music and celeb’s LA has to offer…Kinda skanky if ya ask me..I do like her Tat work
