Today's Evil Beet Gossip

This is a Joke, Right?

lily-allen

Am I honestly supposed to feel sympathy for someone whose talent has recently been overshadowed by their own third “nipple”?

Lily Allen is claiming that she is a victim of the credit crunch. Times are SO hard she was forced to sell her BMW. She is totally keeping the Jamaican beach she purchased while drunk though.

Although her second album, It’s Not Me, It’s You, went to No.1 last month, as did her latest single, The Fear, it seems Lily isn’t rolling in it.

She laughed: “I had to sell my car because I’m so broke. I bought it last year and that was probably my biggest extravagance. Clothes, too. I’m always buying clothes.”

When your emergency financial decision is ‘do I sell my luxury vehicle or my private beach?’ you are not broke, and as someone who was, at times actual-2-dollars-in-my-bank-account broke in college I resent the implication that we’re on the same level. To rub it in a little further she decides to qualify her statement.

“I’m completely skint,” she said. “I can’t even spend on credit cards. I mean, I won’t be broke because I’ll get the royalties from the album and all the radio plays, but that takes about a year.”

If “I get a fat royalty check at the end of the year” is the new broke then sign me up PLEASE. Ugh. I hate celebrities sometimes.

  • I definitely agree.

Being a student, I cant recall how many times Ive had cents in my bank account lol; Im so sick of all these celebrities “feeling the crunch” come on. People are getting laid off left right and center, you should be happy and content you still have a job.

    Geeez

    • Soleil ! If you were to look up the information on Lily Allen”s twitter page, (so far the only real source of information for the comment) Then you would know that it was written by a member named @Emm123 and not Lily Allen. When you click on Emm123 for more information she only mentions needing to sell her car, then writes, or wash it! The comments written above are in every blog post, with no real proof that those are her words. If you were educated at all, you would not believe everything,, that you hear, and act more like an adult. This blog post sounds more like you crying about your short comings in life, than it does her. She’s 23 years old (soon to be 24) and owns her house and a property. In short Lily Allen has not confirmed any of these comments.

      • If you consider that her Channel clothes, purses, and even the Prada fur hat (not real fur) were for the most part given to her for promotion, you can’t say she spends as much money as is estimated. No one knows what she spends on clothes. I recall when Lily Allen stayed at the famed Chateau Marmont hotel that she went shopping for vintage clothing on Melrose avenue, so she does not have a lack of respect for money or a sense of being irresponsible with it ( in fact it’s money that she loves) She wouldn’t sit with people, and answer the same questions so often if she wasn’t getting seriously paid. There is not a huge entourage just her assistant (Emily) E.M.I. records (London) provides her with a rented bus or buses, and air fare. Her Nike collection is from an endorsement deal and her high end meals are paid for by the person that requests the meeting. She’s not the Beckham’s she’s real

    • Lily Allen didn’t sell her car. 6 days after this report was posted a paparazzi ran into the back of the same car. Then she filed a restraining order. Your such dumbasses .

  • Don’t forget she also has a famous actor father, so I really don’t think she’s at any risk of starving to death.

    • Jennifer! Maybe she’ll sue you for making false remarks about drugs the same way she’s suing News of the world magazine, for using false remarks, and writing that she encourages kids to do drugs. They deserve it and so do you!

  • I don’t really care. She is just doing an interview. It’s not like she said “OMG you guys… my life sucks!!!!! I have to sell my awesome car!! I’m like the poorest, most unfortunate person EVER!!!!” And she was laughing when they quoted her. I don’t think she is taking herself seriously, so I’m not sure why I would either.

  • Who is this??? Yall talk about her all the time, but I promise I have never heard of her outside of this site. I am guessing she is a singer. But I have never heard her on the radio.

    • (i used to have a life, but it got lost in the dryer) She’s a very cute and very British singer, who has yet to make her mark in America! But has made an impact in Europe! Please go to Wikipedia for more info!

  • Awww Boo fucking Hoo Lily. Try having to wash your hair with dish soap cause your too poor for shampoo..

Or worse, wiping your ass with coffee filters cause you have no toilet paper.

    • Why blame her for the way your life turned out? Your a real lack of class you know that? Lily Allen is a woman with less than a full education, she gets knocked down everyday or every few days, by the press, and the punishment never fits the crime. Your trying to make fun of her for quotes made up by someone else, ”And’ you sound like a 4 year old child with messed up priorities, that wants to cry about your life! She made a success of herself by herself, and hasn’t change a thing about herself as a result! She has personality, charm and wit. Wipe your ass with that stupid!

  • i imagine they are proud of her films and her tv series, considering she was a child actress she has been groomed for the life of an actor. What they [the rents] are probably baffled with is her [self proclaimed] fashion icon and designer of headwear and handbags, that combined with the “saucy” photo shoots and weird interviews are just weird and unnecessary in everyone’s eyes bar mischas’.

  • Actually there is a piece on her in this week’s New Yorker. While on the interview she went shopping and her credit card was declined. I think it’s hilarious the writer decided it was necessary to add that in the piece but anyhow it shows that she is apparently having money “problems”.

    • I was able to find just an article on Lily Allen by the New Yorker, but no results for Lily Allen interview The New Yorker! No mention of her credit card being rejected. The article (only) was pretty much a complement, to her work!

  • I dont think that she was being all ‘woe is me’, I think she was just stating that she was affected by the economy, probably in response to a question.

  • I think she never said this. But yeah, when you pay attention to any of the questions that people ask her they range from weird to stupid! Who, would You, stab with a fork? Oh I dunno, what could I say,… you (Rove chat show Australia) They never stop being angled at the tabloids, when it should be about the music. Though this was a good interview except for that question, as well as her appearance on Geoff Lloyd. Lily Allen is cool!
