jayz

Word on the street is that Jay-Z — who discovered and mentored Rihanna — is furious about what Chris Brown did to his protege last weekend.

A source tells Us Weekly: “He hit the roof. Chris is a walking dead man. He messed with the wrong crew.”

Good for Jay-Z. Violence is never a solution, but against someone who would beat up his girlfriend like that … I have to admit I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.

Thanks Jessica!

Yep. Since this all began I have been waiting to hear JayZ’s reaction.

  2. erika says:

old news. i read this somewhere else already.

  3. Mistress Of Non Sequitur says:

Yay! My tip got thru! And I have been waiting since this whole thing began to hear what JayZ would say about it.

HELL yes. I am SO SICK of all these guys being like, “Oh, Chris is doing fine. He’s a little worried but he’ll be okay.”. Like, what the fuck??
Jay-Z is the only one I’ve heard from here who sounds remotely like a real man – and keep in mind, *he* wasn’t the one who said or implied anything violent. I’m just glad to hear he’s as outraged by this as we all should be, and that his concern is for the right party.

YOU READ MY MIND! Thank you!

I was so sick of people acting like beating a woman isn’t horrible and not willing to take a stand on it.

He was nvr my favorite rapper, but suddenly I like him a lot more…

  6. Mistress Of Non Sequitur says:

Yes! My tip got thru! I was so waiting for his reaction since this whole think blew up in the news

  8. Snowblood says:

I used to have a problem with Jay-Z, for no good reason, really, just that I hated his music – except for his one song “Brush Your Shoulders Off,” that one is the only Jay-Z joint I like. Anyway, and so I’d take any opportunity in the G-blogs to hate on him.

Well, this here has changed my attitude about teh Hove, this here has given me all kinds of new respect for the man. I still cannot STAND his music – his rapping, anyway, that voice grates on my nerves, but as for the man himself, I no longer have reason to hate on him. His wife’s a complete and total dipshit, though. I think I’ll just concentrate on hatin’ Beyonce now, and give Jay-Z a break for a while…

  9. Ethan says:

Wow, this was only posted on TMZ about 3 days ago. Great tip, Jessica.

  10. BEEBOP says:

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE JAY Z WHUP UP ON CHRIS BROWN

  11. Annie says:

I for one, think Jay-Z is an excellent rapper. He’s amazing.

And as for this new development, well, GOOD FOR HIM.

I am definitely one who goes down fighting to protect my friends. I’m a big fan of loyalty.

  12. Mistress Of Non Sequitur says:

ok, maybe my comment will get thru this time…….1. Yay! My tip got thru 2. I have been waiting since this whole thing happened to see what Jayz would say about this. And yep, he replied exactly like I thought he would.
    I hope he kicks Chris’s ass……..

    • Tabby says:

Umm, that’s only been posted by you like, 15,000 times already. Calm down. We get it.

Oh and I do hope that Jay-Z chokes him until he blacks out and then doesn’t stop.

      • Mistress Of Non Sequitur says:

yeah but when I posted the first time it didn’t show up for a while…..I didn’t know if it had gone thru or not. And since I never really commented before I didn’t know it would take awhile. my bad? lol. Sorry about the xtra commenting……. :)

  13. Jenna Zine says:

Jay-Z came from a rough, poor upbringing to selling out Madison Square Garden in a day! He seems like a cool guy and he’s obviously really talented. I’m not down with vigilante justice, but if there was ever a case… this would be it. Chris Brown did a horrible thing and has shown no remorse.

  14. DanTheMan says:

I was wondering if he was going to do anything about this. I hope this is for real. Still, he has to be careful about it or he can get into serious trouble himself.

When I was very young, I saw my mother abused and heard about a a couple of other women in my family getting abused. I read that boys that see this behavior repeat it. I promised not too.

I turned out the opposite. I’m not somebody you’d want to mess with but I never start stuff with guys and won’t even raise my voice with women.

Basically, I hate bullies. When I meet guys who start dating women in my family, I have a short talk with them. I’ve never had to do more than have that one talk. I also let girlfriends know that if they ever run into this sort of problem post-breakup, to let me know. I’ve stuck up for strangers a number of times.

Guys who like to beat on women and weaker guys tend not to do so when there is someone in the picture who will kick their ass. They CAN control it and DO NOT just lose control. You’ll notice that they never lose control against a group of Marines, gang members, police, etc.

Two of my favorite scenes in all of cinema were in The Godfather and LA Confidential. You can guess which ones.

*Swoon* aw, I think I have an internet crush on DanTheMan. Thank you for your comment. It helped wash away a thousand retarded comments in my worried mind.

Thank you for being a REAL man.

      • KJ says:

Oh yeah. I agree. I am so there. Yes.. right there :-P

      • DanTheMan says:

Wow! Thanks for the responses. You made my Valentines Day (I’m half a day ahead of you over here).

I was actually going to come back and apologize for writing an autobiography here, so it was nice that you actually liked what I had to say.

        Have a great Valentines Day.

      • ThatLisa says:

no, thank you Dan. It was absolutely refreshing. And happy Valentines’ Day to you!

  15. devils advocate says:

I’m not surprised on this reaction, it’s expected, but he still stands to make a bundle from the whole scene.
    But SGM?

  16. Anonymous says:

Indeed, old news… I guess I would have reacted exactly the same way…

    Has anybody read this?

    http://dailyblabber.ivillage.com/entertainment/archives/2009/02/chris-browns-facebook-update.html

This guy makes me sick, it’s disgusting, I’m speechless….

  17. lolly says:

this is totally monday’s news and probably made up news anyway. i’m sure jay z cares, but not THAT much. after all, he’s got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one.

  18. Persistent Cat says:

Can you imagine knowing Jay-Z hates you? Not only is he scary as fuck but he’s got his hands in so many different pots (is that the expression?), if he decides your career is over, it pretty much is.

  19. down low says:

jay z would be stupid for puttin his business out there for everybody to hear. (if he was really gonna represent)
now he’s virtually guaranteed not to be able to do anything about it.
if anything happens to CB now, who do ya think they’re gonna be lookin at.
my take on it is he’s posturing, tryin to stand tall because his homegirl got smacked around. but inside he knows he ain’t gonna really do anything.
guys like jay z have got too much to lose. being rich don’t mean nothin if you’re squattin in the “graybar hotel”.
and how long will beyonce hang around if he gets busted ?
even if he tries to get somebody else to do his dirty work, it could come back to bite him when they get caught. those rats will sell you out every time when they’re face’in a long stretch.
nah, what most likely will happen is he’ll come out later and say “we’ll do everything in our power to help rhianna through this and see that chris brown is brought to justice for what he did! ”
all the while in the background tellin his “crew” …don’t worry, we’ll bide our time.
then in a coupla months it all gets forgotten (as far as jay-z is concerned)

  20. censorthis says:

are you kidding? beyonce could kick chris browns scrawny ass!! jay z won’t have to lift a single, perfectly manicured finger against the punk.

  21. coach says:

so violence is an acceptable reaction in your book? cool. just good to know where you draw the line.

  22. Grace says:

Wait, what? It’s not OK for Chris Brown to beat someone else up, but it’s OK for someone to beat him up? Either violence is bad or it’s not. Saying that it’s OK because it’s retributive is the same as the idiots who’ve been saying Rihanna deserved it because she’d given him herpes. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

  23. Brynja says:

Er, violence is never acceptable and no, not in this case either. Being “furious” is however an acceptable reaction and I’m glad that he is taking a stand. As long as he doesn’t “lower” himself to CB’s level and gets him beaten up or some shit.

  24. Persistent Cat says:

Yeah, I really think Jay-Z is lingering outside Chris Brown’s house waiting for him to wander outside so he can fight him. That’s exactly what’s going to happen. Or maybe after the next hip-hop meeting, he’s going to get him then.

He’s a grown man for F’s sake, he’s not speaking literally. But if Jay-Z wants your career gone, it’s gone.

  25. DanTheMan says:

“Either violence is bad or it’s not.”

    “violence is never acceptable”

A very simplistic view that has been proven wrong throughout history. Violence is something that should never be joyously embraced but sometimes it’s the best possible solution to a problem.

From American history alone, please let me know how we should have dealt with the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War 2.

    • Anonymous says:

Yeah, American History has ALL the answers. When life turns into an enigma, pull out the history book. There we can find all the answers to life’s conundrums.
This is the thinking that allowed the previous president to declare war on Iraq with no good reason.

    • Grace says:

You’re also choosing to totally ignore the context. Talking about war is totally different from talking about one person beating another up over a personal disagreement.

  26. Mae says:

Beet, I have to say… You’re fucking retarded.

“Good for Jay-Z. Violence is never a solution, but against someone who would beat up his girlfriend like that … I have to admit I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.”

That made NO SENSE whatsoever. You’re against one form of violence but totally for another? Yes… You’re a mind for philosophy, you are.
