Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Usher’s Wife In Midst Of Plastic Surgery Nightmare

Usher cancelled his scheduled Saturday night appearance at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy celebration due to a serious family emergency.  As it turns out, the crisis stems from plastic surgery gone wrong.

Usher’s wife, Tameka, underwent some sort of plastic surgery procedure in Brazil.  Since she popped out two kids in thirteen months, I’m voting tummy tuck, boob lift, lipo…oh screw it, full body overhaul.  Anyway, Usher has travelled to South America as well as Cedars-Sinai neurosurgeon, Gabriel Hunt.  A neurosurgeon?  This cannot be good.

What the hell was she doing in Brazil?  In the evil recesses of my brain, I can’t help but wonder if this wasn’t some sort of surgery/resort vacation bargain set up by Usher’s mother.  You know, the one refused to attend Usher and Tameka’s wedding.

Prayers to Usher and his family that this turns out okay.

  • I hope she’s ok. I’ve always wanted a boob job. (I nursed both kids for 14 months.) but then you hear of all these horror stories and then I make myself do push ups!

  • Scary sad. I hope she’s ok. I wonder why the locale too…not like they don’t have the coin for an LA job.

  • Wait, why would she need a neurosurgeon? What kind of plastic surgery could she have had? And why did she have to fly all the way to Brazil? Aren’t there lots of great plastic surgeons in the US?

  • Brazilian plastic surgeons are recongnized among the best in the world, with doctors following the step of Ivo Pitanguy (google him) – who has been performing plastic surgeries since the 50’s.
On the other hand, São Paulo is a international metropolis with very high quality and modern hospitals (by international standards). I refuse to believe someone with the resources Usher and his family would buy any cheap plastic-surgery-touristic vacation package.

This is a very serious matter and any procedure with anesthesia involved has risks. So, it is empty-headed of you to state, or even imply, that being in Brazil could be the reason for whatever that have gone wrong on Tameka surgery.
Word on the street is that she is in a coma.

    • I did not at all imply Brazilian plastic surgeons suck. I merely found it strange she chose to fly all the way to the southern hemisphere to have a procedure done that she could have gotten closer to home, as in closer to her children who are still extremely young and were probably going to be left with nannies since her husband was supposed to be performing at the Grammies. Excuse me for thinking someone having major surgery might want to be a tad bit closer to home so they could be with family in case something goes wrong.

      • I don’t think the replies were to your comment. They were probably directed to Valentine, who implied that they chose Brazil because it was cheaper rather than because of the high quality of the procedures done down here.
Oh and I agree with you. She shouldn’t have left her small children at home and flown all the way to another country just to get cosmetic surgery.

      • Hey, rawr, I wasn’t addressing you in my reply, as Andie pointed out.
And I do agree with you that maybe it was too early and too stressful to travel to undergo an esthetic procedure.

    • I came in to give this information. Brazil is the second country in the world in number of plastic surgery performance. We have both amazing and awful doctors, just as anywhere else in the world. I don’t think they would have been cheap about her health… not in Brazil, not anywhere.

      • Again, when did I say they were being cheap about anything? I just honestly could not fathom flying so far from home to have a major surgery performed that I’m sure some surgeon in the US or any other country closer than Brazil could have competently performed. Of course Usher has enough money to afford his wife the best medical treatment available in any country and not for a second did I believe his wife would choose a sketchy doctor in any country. The only point I was trying to make is that having major surgery is stressful enough without having the added stressors that come with being in a foreign country (i.e. not knowing anyone, not being able to speak the country’s language, being away from your loved ones, cultural differences in even the food that is served at hospitals, etc).

  • So sad. I hope she is okay, especially for her families sake. Why go to Brazil? It’s not like people in LA never get plastic surgery done.

  • The thing is that brazilian plastic surgeons are famous for being able to mantain people original features without transforming their faces into assembly line’s plastic-barbies faces. And there are various plastic surgery techniques that were developed by brazilian surgeons, that’s why they are famous.

  • My friend’s mother slipped into a coma during a face lift and died shortly thereafter. It was the anesthesia.

I had a boob job 7 years ago and it was HORRIBLE. It was not worth the pain or the finished product. The doctor screwed up the surgery, prescribed me pain medication that I was allergic to (it was on the bracelet!) and then flew off on vacation to Jamaica.

And the worst part? I have to do it again in three years! These things expire after 10! I simply don’t think that plastic surgery is worth the risk.

I hope that things turn out well for his wife.

  • she had her dick lopt off and went crazy?
    Who said that?
    I didnt.
I was just asking who said that.
    I’m innocent.

  • I am sorry but I cannot understand a woan that gives birth in December and undergoes cosmetic surgery in early February
    That is beyond my understanding
The kids come first and foremost
Risks are unacceptable at this stage of a mom’s life,
not to mention the other small kid she has
I really hope she gets well for their sake.

  • She obviously went to Brazil because most American doctors will not perform plastic surgery within 6 months to a year of giving birth.

    • I agree
the body does a lot of remodeling by itself during the months after giving birth
it’s just a matter of time
then you must also have some discipline to help the body do its own work
unfortunately some people just want to get it fast and effortlessly, independently of the pain issues that come with cosmetic surgery.
I know someone who had a cardiac arrest during anaesthetic induction, due to difficult intubation and never had the surgery at all.
Never underestimate risks of these manouvers, no matter how good the healthcare professionals are.

      • many doctors can be bought, yes
        and that’s a worldwide thing
many other people in different professions can be bought
the irresponsible one was the patient herself
for she put her whim ahead of her children
and she was not sick, as a matter of fact
she was solely a fashion victim

      • They’re not irresponsible, Brazil just has different laws/practices. I’m not familiar with Brazilian law or practices, but I am familiar with other South American countries plastic surgery policies. For example, most American surgeons refuse to give girls under the age of 16 breast implants because they’re breasts are still developing and a lot of complications could occur (basically, American surgeons are trying to cover their asses and avoid some serious malpractice suits). Some South American countries, however, are willing to work around these complications. Doesn’t mean the doctors are irresponsible. It probably just means people don’t sue them up the ass like they do in the US. And many doctors can be bought. Including American doctors.

  • OK LISTEN EVERYONE KNOWS THAT BRAZIL IS NOT THE CLEANEST PLACE I DON’T CARE IT’S NOT, AND THE DOCTORS OVER THERE ARE NOT ALL LICENCED, SOMEONE WAS ON TYRA BANKS A FEW YEARS AGO TALKING ABOUT HOW A BRAZILIAN DOCTOR F UP HER TOMMY TUCK YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT STOMACH IT LOOKED LIKE OATMEAL, IT LOOKED LIKE SHE HAD BEEN TO THE BUTCHERS SHOP FOR REAL. • “our bodies don’t accept that procedure well”? WTF?!? You don’t even know what procedure she had done. You are just perpetuating the idea that blacks are ignorant and make statements based on assumptions and folk tales

      • LOOK ME SAYS WHAT THE F TO YOU IT’S NOT THAT SERIOUS ALL I SAID WAS WE AS BLKS DON’T DO WELL WITH PLASTIC SURGERY AND NO I DON’T KNOW WHAT PROCEDURE SHE HAD BUT I DO KNOW THAT SHE HAD A PROCEDURE PERFORMED.AND THE STATS WILL TELL YOU THIS IF YOU TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK THIS UP BLKS DO NOT DO WELL WITH PLASTIC SURGERIES FIRST OF ALL THERE IS A RISK OF THE SKIN NOT HEALING CORRECT AND MAKING THE SKIN THICK AROUND THE AREA THAT’S BEEN CUT.

  • LOOK ME SAYS IT’S NOT THAT SERIOUS WTF ALL I’M SAYING IS WE AS BLKS DON’T USUALLY HAVE A GOOD OUTCOME WITH PLASTIC SURGERY AND NO I DO NOT KNOW WHAT PROCEDURE SHE HAD BUT I DO KNOW THAT SHE HAD A PROCEDURE PERFORMED AND WHERE DID YOU GET ALL THAT OTHER CRAZY SHIGGY D FROM ABOUT WE ARE IGNORANT MAYBE YOU ARE BUT I’M NOT I BLK AND I’M PROUD SAY IT LOUD , I’M BLK AND I’M PROUD

  • Hey Ya’ll … We the public will prolly never know all the details. Word on da street is she suffered complications (cardiac and respiratory arrest) following “routine” surgery. The surgery is not revealed but what is known is a neurosurgeon has been called in. Nerves? Uh … can happen that nerve damage occurs during any procedure but in this case it is suspicious that nerve damage may have been connected to lipsuction where the cannula, if not properly used, can puncture. Nerve damage or “nicking” of nearby areas can occur when a scapel or laser is used. We just don’t know. After having given birth recently it is a question in my mind as to how a responsible physician would give a go ahead to any procedure requiring GENERAL anesthesia. Just would like to know with whom Usher and Tamika consulted and what tests were done to assess her ability to undergo anesthesia and the planned procedures. The question is what kind of shape was she in that made her a candidate for such extensive medical intervention? We also hear that she has been placed into a medical coma–a tactic used to help the body avoid systemic shock and organ shutdown. It’s designed to assist the body in recovering. There is, unfortunately, no guarantee that any method will restore health–especially after a near shutdown post surgery. We wish them well. Keep the prayers going UP so the BLESSINGS come down. Peace Ya’ll …

  • I too do not understand why any dr worth his/her credentials would approve liposuction on a woman who just gave birth. The tissue is going to change. Liposuction does not address the problems associated with what pregnancy does to the body. Silvio Sterman was the idiot that did it. If you ask me most cosmetic surgeons should not be performing surgery, even some of those highly paid ones. Look for one that is open, gives you options, who you hear about from someone who actually had surgery with them… Judge for yourself, do not let the media, an ad or even the dr try to sell you a bill of goods that you have not seen evidence of first.
