We Should Go Easier on the Celebrity Baby Names

ap0812160150081

As absurd as Apple and Bronx Mowgli and Rumer may be as names, at least celebrities haven’t taken to naming their children after evil mass murderers.

Remember 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell?

He’s the little boy whose name was the center of an international firestorm last December after a Greenwich, N.J., supermarket refused to write his name on a birthday cake. The store said it was inappropriate and refused to give an apology after the parents demanded one.

Adolf and his two sisters — one-year-old JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and 8-month-old Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell — were removed from their parents’ home Tuesday night by the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services, Holland Township police chief David Van Gilson told LehighValleyLive.com.

It is unclear why the children were removed from their parent’s home. Gilson said his department did not receive any reports of abuse or negligence.

I’m interested to hear more details on this … is it legally or morally okay to remove children from a household because they’re being raised with bigoted beliefs? It raises a lot of issues.

What do you guys think?

  • If the parents are so brainwashed as to naming their kids those kind of evil names, then obviously that begs the question to what else is wrong with them and what else do they believe in??

      • I should clarify, I don’t think the kids should be removed because of what the parents believe in, no matter how disgustingly wrong it is. I just think there must be more going on.

  • It probably has something to do with the care of the children, I’m fairly certain the Mom is homeschooling them instead of sending them to daycare of pre-k, I highly doubt they believe in public school education. It’s just really sad that they had to scar their children with those names. The kid is so cute, it’s a shame he has such scary looking parents with such deep hatred inside of them.

      • I agree, homeschooling has nothing to do with this.
And the eldest is 3, not old enought to go to school anyway.
Ginger, you’re misinformed about homeschooling, or just ignorant.

    • I don’t believe that homeschooling is enough reason to take the kids away, plenty of people don’t believe in public schooling.. I think home school would be better than public school..
Clearly there must be something going on to make them take their children away, I do however think it is wrong to take the children away with no reports of anything bad happening to the children.
Everyone is allowed to have their own beliefs and teach their kids what they want, you may not believe in the same things as them, but regardless, if theyre good to their children, it shouldn’t matter.. ?

  • As much as I dislike the name and their beliefs, I’m enough of an American to say that there needs to be a good reason why the children were removed from the home.

Bad names and racial hatred aren’t legal reasons as far as I know.

    • but with racist names, that could endanger the children!
think about how theyd get beattt upppp at school!

    • Psychological and emotional abuse ARE (or at least should be) valid reasons for removing these poor kids from this enviroment. God help them.

      • Tread lightly Snowdevil. There are some people that frequent this site that go ballistic if you mention the word “God”.

    • Giving your child a poorly chosen name (by general standards) is not child abuse. There needs to be some explanation for why the children were taken. With no allegations of abuse, it would seem they have no right to do so. Though, with all the negative attention “family services” has been receiving, it was only a matter of time before over-reacting became as common place as being over worked/loaded/stressed.

  • Sadly, I don’t think the kids should be removed only because their parents have beliefs which are offensive to most people – because, what is morally acceptable and for who? Maybe a lesbian couple would see their children removed because an ultra-conservative judge finds it unacceptable for two women to raise kids? I know you cannot compare homosexuality with Nazism, but they keep on offending some people. It is very sad but those people are gonna raise their children in xenophobia and hate and there is nothing we can do in a democracy with free speech.

  • It is abuse. Think of how many times those kids are just going to get their asses kicked when they tell people what their name is.

  • It is abuse. Think of how many times those kids are just going to get their asses kicked when they tell people what their name is.

  • Kids are cruel little bastards and going to school in new Jersey will be hella hard oin that kid.

JESUS CHRIST is that the real photo of the family?

I bet evil nazi granny here will get off her funky looking ass next time and bake her damn baby a home made cake. Lazy and hateful isnt she?

BTW thats utter BULL SHIT that they are just proud of German ancestry because the Germans I know dont think that highly of that little fucker hitler. They are god damn emberassed an sickend over it all.

    • you said everything i was thinking!

infact, ive read a few german blogs where students took field trips to the old Concentration Camps and they ALL mentioned how ashamed they felt to be german

    • i have German ancestry and I couldnt be more disgusted with the whole third reich shebang. ancestry is no excuse.

call the kids Dresden and Berlin or something if you must.

  • Kids are brought up in homes with parents who hold hugely bigoted opinions all the time, don’t try and tell me that religious fanatics don’t raise their children to have certain ideas, how come that’s not considered bad when it’s still bringing up kids to hate other people because of what ever lame reason

  • the sanity of this couple IMMEDIATELY comes to question when you hear those children’s names. this is what would come up when googling “how to make your kids’ lives as difficult as possible”. id be surprised if there werent some other abuse or neglect going on in that house. the parents are obviously whacko.

  • I think the straw that broke the camel’s back was when they hired Michael Jackson to be their nanny. :-)

  • Ok, while I find the names repugnant on a personal level it is not illegal to give your kid an offensive or downright retarded name. If it was then we would have to remove thousands of kids from their homes. Think about how many Islamic parents have give their kids the name “Osama” in honor of the world’s most wanted terrorist or Michael Jackson naming his kid “blanket”. Unless these parents abused the kids in some way they have one hell of a lawsuit against the state for discriminating against them. It’s not illegal to be a moron.

    • Naming your child, say, “Osama Ahmed” is quite different from naming him “Osama bin Lahden Ahmed”. “Osama” is a common name. People naming their child “Joseph” are not doing so in honour of Joseph Goebbels, are they? I would have no problem with someone naming their child simply “Adolph”, as long as they were not doing so to honour Hitler.

  • I imagine that it has less to do with their names, and it is more that they found something else going on. If I remember correctly (from the original story about the store that refused to decorate the cake), it was the father that make a big to-do of all of it.

I would venture to guess that his whining drew attention to their family… Again, if these people are willing to name their children these names, you have to assume there is something else happening.

Also, I remember when I read the first story… there was a commenter who made an excellent point… He asked… “Why are these people putting their child’s first AND middle name on a cake?” He concluded that it was more about getting attention than the guy actually being “outraged” that this store wouldn’t put his kid’s name on a cake. I tend to agree, which is why I take great joy in these children being removed. Kid shouldn’t be used as tools to further one’s own personal agenda and beliefs.

  • WTF THE AUTHORITIES SHOULD NEVER HAVE LET THE STUPID PARENTS NAME THEIR CHILDREN SUCH RACIST NAMES, IN THE UK WHERE I LIVE THIS WOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED. WE LIVE IN A MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY AND THERES NOTHIN THATS EVER GONNA CHANGE THAT HOW THESE CHILDREN GOING TO BE TREATED WHEN THEIR OLDER. THIS JUS CONFIRMS THE STEREOTYPE BRITISH PEOPLE LABEL AMERICANS AS DUMB ASSES.

    • “BE TREATED WHEN THEIR OLDER. THIS JUS CONFIRMS THE STEREOTYPE BRITISH PEOPLE LABEL AMERICANS AS DUMB ASSES”

Funny, the misspelling of “they’re” and then you proceed to call Americans dumb asses.

      • Hehe.

I AM TRYING TO CONVEY MY ANGER BY ‘SHOUTING’ AT YOU IN CAPS LOCK!! Love it.

I’m English, and I don’t think *All* Americans are dumb… I’d be more inclined to judge someone who can’t differentiate between ‘They’re’, or ‘Their’, to be honest.

        :o)

  • I totally agree with Holly. And of course it’s pretty sickening to know that someone would name their child after someone who caused the murders of millions of innocent people but as far as I know it isn’t illegal to be a sick racist. But hell I’m not saying I’m pissed to hear about it. Kids have been taken from their parents for things not even half as bad as this.

  • The kids could have been removed because the attitudes of their parents presented a possible moral danger.

well, thats what child services (Docs) can do in Australia.

Therefore the beliefs of the parents are called into question, not just their actions.

    its possible.

    • There would be a lot more parentless children in this country if our government concerned themselves with “possible moral danger”.

  • I saw the story on my local news and they showed an interview with the father and I believe he said something along the lines of “We aren’t Nazi’s nor do we share the beliefs, we just like the names.” To which my best friend and I said out loud at the same time…” You just like the name Aryan Nation?” Yeah this couple seems to have produced children for the shock factor. The parents obviously don’t give an eff about their kids to name them that, so neglect is a possibility. I’m sure they love their kids just like most other parents but that doesn’t mean they don’t care about themselves more. Obviously the children’s best interest wasn’t in mind from birth. Can you imagine being at the doctor’s office and hearing “Adolf? Adolf Hitler Campbell?”
But I agree with Miss Malice about the religious bigots. Removing them based on their names just isn’t enough reason.

  • I’m going to name my kid ‘Pieceofpaper.’ Boy or girl. ‘Pieceofpaper’ will be their name. It’s going to be great!

    • Screw it — if we can give kids names like that, I’m going through with the plan I had when I was 8. I’m going to have three children. There will be Mackenzie and Chester (Mac & Cheese), and then the third one will be named Pancake, just for effect.

  • holy shit, i guess i better change the name of my beautiful new baby boy, ‘vagina’, before he gets called a pussy at school, huh?

  • this italian couple named their baby friday, after robinson crusoe’s servant, and the courts made them rename him because of potential ridicule.

    • That’s ridiculous! I prefer to be able to name kids whatever I want, even if it does lead to some weird situations like this one.

    • That’s a pity, because “Fri” is a really cool nickname. “Fri Gambini”. I think I’ll name my child Friday, actually.

  • The evil fucking smirk little Adolf has on his face in that photo makes him look just like Damien in the Omen when his nanny hung herself in front of the kiddies. We haven’t heard the last from this kid.

    • I still need to see that movie. Same with Children of the Corn. I’m a big fan of kids, think their great and all, but it’s probably a good idea to know the evil dangers they pose as well.

  • I thought that some government authority would have SOME sort of say in what you name your child. I mean there are a lot of sick people out there reproducing. Shouldn’t there be some sort of prohibitive organization somewhere preventing some pervert naming their child the C word or something? Or if I wanted to name my child pedophyle, would that be okie dokie with child services? It seems to me that if a parent chooses to name their child Adolf Hitler, or something as offensice or as harmful to the child, the parents are obviously not in their right mind. I think that could be considered as child abuse.

  • Oh wow. SAVE THOSE KIDS! I fully believe they should be taken away from the parents… I don’t even care what else they may be doing at home (although I am sure it involves studies on ethnic cleansing). I’m sure they were taken away for something much deeper than the names the parents chose. But seriously? Some people should not be allowed to procreate.

    • Also, the death threats the family has been receiving could have affected the decision to remove the kids maybe

  • Really, being raised by parents that look like that is mental anguish enough to define abuse. Can you imagine waking up to those faces every day?

  • Why do these assholes do this to their kids? They need to legally change their own fucking names to Adolf Hitler.

  • Examine the kid’s face…does it look like he’s being abused in any way? And look at their body language, too.. I don’t know but I somehow think this is an amazing family photo.

  • at first i thought this was a photo of 2 lesbians with their kid. i agree with holly as well. something other than racism was probably going on in that home…but… i would personally be ok with the removal of this kid for having to endure growing up ignorant and being taught to hate others, which is probably, eventually, going to affect this child in a way where he becomes a danger to society because of him upbringing. i do think it’s a form of abuse, in a neglectful way. it’s also kind of a denial of education for the child. then again, people have the right to their opinions and beliefs and religions and whatever. i think if this child grew up in a home that wa spromoting extreme hate and action of that hate against others, then it’s appropriate for him to be removed from that dangerous environment.

  • I don’t understand how the kids came to have these names, anyway. In most countries, they wouldn’t have been allowed to use those names. Is the law different in America? Can you call your child anything you want to?

      • Right. Last time I was in the States I heard someone saying that we don’t have freedom of speech in the UK, which made me laugh. But I supposed it’s technically true, compared with the absolute freedom American law supports – although, in fact, you can probably get away with more over here than you can in the USA, especially during the Shrub years.

  • i just saw this on cnn, and family services said that they never removed children unless they are in imminent danger, or have undergone abuse.

interesting case…wonder what the real truth is behind it all

  • Child services is going to return the children with new names…
    Lamont, Shanequia and Lexus…

    Hahahahahaha…

I don’t have a problem with the names, but I do feel sorry for the children. They are so gonna get nicknames as fast as possible.
In school, you know there will be polar opposition happening.
Some kids that find it interesting will use every opportunity to use their given names, while others will use the nicknames…

Of course, the other children will tell their parents and then there will be “outraged” parents threatening to remove their children form the school unless this injustice is taken care of.

Plus, I find it funny that everyone is all over the FATHER in this, however, the mother seems to be partially at fault as well…

  • usually when people are that seriously involved in white power movement/nazi crap there are weapons, gunplay and general violence involved in the lifestyle, which would be very detrimental to children. there has to be more than just the names, otherwise someone would have to take away bronx mowgli.

  • CPS doesnt pull kids out of homes because their names are stupid or racist or mom and dad are a bit backwards. I work in the system and know that parents can get away with quite a bit before the kids are taken away. There isnt a single state that has so much excess housing space that kids can be taken out of the home for just anything. There were being abused, neglected or in some clear and present danger to be removed.

  • I don’t think it could be legal to take the children away from their parents just because the parents believe in somehting different than we do.. Though, sometimes i think it should be legal to do something about crazy stuff like this.. You guys remember that crazy family “Phelps” that goes to the soldiers funerals with extremely disrespectful signs?

    http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=4hI1mO2eeTY&feature=related

That’s what i mean.. Sometimes i think we should be able to do something about crazy people like that.. lol..

  • GOOD-EVIL,IT’S LIKE BEING IN THE DARK AGES-IF ADOLF HITLER WON WORLD WAR 2,HISTORY WOULD SAY- HITLER WAS RIGHT AND GOOD BECAUSE HE WAS THE VICTOR-THE WINNER AND EVERYONE ELSE OPPOSED THAT LOST WOULD BE WRITTEN OFF AND DISMISSED AS INSANE AND EVIL.HISTORY IS WRITTEN BY THE VICTORS,THE WINNERS.WHAT IS PURE EVIL?WHAT IS PURE GOOD?THESE ARE RELATIVE TERMS BECAUSE WE ARE ALL ANIMALS-HUMANS.THOU SHALL NOT KILL,BUT WE ALL KNOW GOD IS A KILLER BECAUSE HE DESTROYED AND DROWNED THE WORLD DURING THE TIMES OF NOAH’S ARK.GOD CAN’T EVEN FOLLOW HIS OWN LAWS-HYPOCRITICAL SELF DECEIT.KILLING A VAST AMOUNT OF PEOPLE.GOOD?EVIL?

  • they are probably only being removed because of the numerous death threats to the family and the children that they have received. which is also why the father is refusing to admit that the children have been taken away.

  • THE GOVERNMENT AND THE MEDIA IS THE GREAT LIARS;EVERYONE KNOWS THIS.THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS NATIONS OR COUNTRIES ANYMORE THAT’S JUST A ROMANTIC IDEA -THESE PEOPLE ADVOCATE A VERY CONFORMIST ATTITUDE.
