Why Do We Keep Casting Mickey Rourke in Things?

mickey_rourke123

Word on the street is that the Grossness That Is Mickey Rourke has nabbed the role of the villain in Iron Man 2, alongside Sam Rockwell.

A very tight lid is being kept on the script, but it is known that Rourke would play a tattooed Russian heavy named Ivan who becomes Whiplash, a man with deadly, technologically enhanced coils.

Rockwell would play Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman and a rival of industrialist Anthony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, a role being reprised by Robert Downey Jr.

Gwyneth Paltrow is also returning as Tony Stark/Iron Man’s executive assistant, while Don Cheadle is replacing Terrence Howard as the hero’s best buddy. Another part — one for Stark’s assistant Natasha — is still open.

I really don’t care whether or not he’s a good actor. The guy just grosses me out. I hate hearing about him.

  • good question
I always thought of him as a strange person
    not really a good actor
    not really sexy
    just strange
    alienatingly strange

  • mickey rocks! his grossness is part of his genius. See “spun” or “the wrestler” for prime examples

  • I’m not a fan or a hater. I don’t really care one way or another. But I would like to see his movie that is out now, The Wrestler. It’s been on (& pretty high up on) most movie critics Top 10 movies of ’08. Anyone seen it?

  • I worked with the guy a few years ago. Correction. I worked with the poor excuse for filth a few years ago, on a movie that will probably be released on the coattails of The Wrestler.
He is hands-down, the worst thing I have ever come across in my entire existence. It kills me to no end that the film community has the balls to honor someone who has no sense of community. The rudest, most inconsiderate thing to ever walk onto a film set. If he wins the Oscar, I might blacklist the event entirely. And thats totally my Superbowl.

  • Mickey Rourke is very talented. I don’t care how ugly he may be. Life shouldn’t just be about what you look like. You know what grosses me out? Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson. And neither of them are talented.

  • Because he looks like he’s about to die in a few months and “we” want to get the “best” out of him while he is still alive. Or not…

  • He wasn’t so bad looking before all the surgery. Now he just looks horrific, and the aging is not helping…..eeeugghh ewww. Maybe he is a genuinely nice fella but…I would run like hell if I ever saw his face lol

  • Because he is horrifically ugly and gross and makes the best villains/drug addicts/ abusive uncles in movies! OMG he is sooo scary to look at. And…. he’s not a terrible actor. I’m not denying he’s a major toolbag either.

  • I think it’s sad what has become of Mickey. If you watch 9 1/2 weeks and then look at this picture you would have absolutely no clue it’s the same person. He used to be INCREDIBLY sexy, and an awesome actor, and I think he just landed some really shitty movies over the past few years, said some retarded things, and got way way way too much plastic surgery. It’s sad what a few shitty decisions will do to your reputation. I’m kind of glad he’s making a come-back, but he needs to lay off the needle and knife for a while.

  • The wrestler is hands down the best movie I have seen in a year. Mickey Rourke puts in the best performance ever, 100% convincing in the role. Not everyone in hollywood needs to be a paris hilton, look around, the real world, there’s a lot of dysfunctional people making a living, who have streaks of brilliance. Mickey Rourke represents them.

  • About his nails – that could very well be a sign of a serious illness. And he kinda has a barrel chest. Another sign….perhaps heart disease, emphysema or cancer. Be nice everyone. He’s made his mistakes, but has paid a very heavy price. I was never a fan. But the way Hollywierd treats people, I am glad to see him make a comeback. I just hope he is not an ill man. Finally, funny how many in Hollywood all want to snuggle up to him now………hmm!

  • HE’S A WONDERFUL ACTOR. HE WAS BEAUTIFUL TWENTY YEARS AGO. (SEE NINE AND A HALF WEEKS) I STILL THINK HE’S SEXY. AND HE’S SMART. HE’S NEVER DONE A BAD MOVIE THAT I SAW, SO HE’S LIKE NICHOLSON WHO AIN’T NO BEAUTY NOW BUT IS A FINE CRAFTSMAN, EXCEPT NICHOLSON ALWAYS PLAYS HIMSELF. WHILE ROURKE ENTERS THE SOUL OF WHOMEVER HE PLAYS AND TEACHES US SOMETHING ABOUT THE HUMAN HEART WITH HIS WORK. HIS FACE? IS IT BEAUTIFUL. IT’S THE FACE OF A MAN WHO HAS LIVED AND FELT AND FOUGHT HARD. I LIKE HIM AND HOPE HE GETS ALOT OF WORK.

  • Mickey Rourke was never that attractive to begin with, but now he looks sooooo gross. YUCK!!!

  • god. ok so i own the movie rumble fish. i love it. he’s sexy as hell in it and you can see how brilliant he is by how naturally he plays such an intelligent character (the motorcycle boy).

but, i just saw a pic of some mickey rourke actor recently… all the hustle and bustle left over after the wrestler, i guess. i swear i thought there must have been two different actors with the same name. but i was mistaken – he just looks like another person.

my guess is, he had a complex about being short and took steroids to try and grow, hoping to appease hollywood and get more leading man type roles… however it backfired on his dna and kinda over enlarged him, then he tried to fix it up with plastic surgery.

welcome mickey rourke, the once beautiful, motorcycle boy.

  • does anyone really care? Go thru what this man has gone thru and see how “normal” you turn out. Bravo Mickey Rourke.

  • Mickey Rourke is so ugly now he should wear a bag over his face. To bad he thought he was a boxer but he is still a great actor though. Boxing is only for top athletes Mickey stick to acting!

  • Of all the pathetic excuses for actors/actresses such as Lyndsay Lohan you choose to billy a man who has earned his spot in the film industry? This man worked his way up from nothing and all you care about is his appearance? I feel sorry for you people…
