Today's Evil Beet Gossip

First Day of School!

Sasha and Malia Obama's First Day of School

Now this is smart Presidential parenting.

To calm the flurry of paparazzi looking to get a shot of the Obama girls’ first day of school, President-elect Obama actually took the damn photos himself — as the girls prepared to leave for school — and released them right away. On Flickr.

In fact, there’s an entire Flickr photostream called “Obama-Biden Transition Project” where you can check out snapshots of damn near every step the President-elect takes as he prepares to govern this nation.

A Flickr photo stream.

Things are most certainly changing, you guys.

  • Look at the little ones face. How cute is that! It has been quite a while since such a little girl has lived in the White House. It will be so much fun watching her grow up. I hope they do not shelter the kids beyond what is necessary. I want so much to get my weekly dose of those adorable faces and hopefully hear on occasion an innocently awkward blurb about mommy and daddy. Look at her ! She is just a sweet kid and I’m sure she doesn’t yet realize the significance of her parents accomplishments. (yes Michelle deserves credit also). That is what is going to make it so real. You can’t give a kid that age a script let alone expect her to follow it if you did. This is way Cool !!!! God Bless America.

  • I love this family so much! There are no words for how proud I am of Barack Obama and this country for voting him into the highest office in our country. God bless America is right, Jack!

    • Which is, quite obviously, the most important to consider when choosing who is best fit to lead our country.

      • Sandra didn’t say it was the most important factor, I reckon she just thought it was cool that our president-elect is very handsome.

  • Omg they’re so cute I like them :D That’s a pretty cool idea! Why get a photographer in though :S

  • Nothing like beating the paps to the punch (he looked pissed on Halloween). Nice to know we have a president who will take the time to see his kids to school

  • Wonderful. He’s being open and letting us in on his life, and its his choice not the paparazzi. He’s not hiding anything (:

  • Note to people who like to make paparazzi bleed:
This is what smart celebrity does. Take responsibility for the position you put yourself in. Recognize and address the circumstances. Take the fun out of it, for the paps, and do it yourself.
To the willing exhibitionistas out there, plow on. Beet loves her job, and I love spending half my morning at work reading it.
This is why I love this man. How genius was this move. Even if he did not think of it himself, he was willing to try it.
