Nicole Kidman Plays First Post-Op Transsexual

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences really appreciates girl on girl action and any gender bending roles.  Charlize Theron in Monster, Nicole Kidman in The Hours, Hilary Swank in Boys Don’t Cry.

So even though the film is only in pre-production, I call Oscar nominations for Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman who are starring in the independent movie The Danish Girl.  The film, based on a true story, tells the tale of two married artists and how the husband changes after posing as a female model for portraits.  Kidman gets to play the guy who, in time, became the first post-op transsexual.  Will you watch?  It sounds like a fascinating story.

  • I’ll watch, but I won’t be surprised if I can’t forget I’m watching Kidman playing a man. Maybe they shoulda picked an unknown for the part.

  • I thought she looked better back when she was her natural redheaded, freckled, curly-haired self. You know, in that weird Aussie movie with Billy Zane……anyone remember that?

  • Getyouradverbshere, the movie you are speaking of is Dead Calm, also starring Sam Neill.

JenB., do you really think this plastic caricature of once normal looking woman is beautiful? This completely screams desperation, to change yourself this much.

  • It usually takes Kidman only about twenty minutes to get naked in most of her movies(not that I’m complaining.) Are they planning to glue a plastic penis to her during her male phase?

  • Being an Australian, good ol’ Nic gets shoved down my throat by local and international media alike but I fail to see what all the fuss is about. I think she looks like an alien alot of the time, but for once I’m interested in seeing a movie of hers. She’d make a very convincing transexual since she looks barely human as it is.

And I mean NO disrespect to any transexuals out there. Just to Nicole.

  • here’s my dilemma: i love nicole kidman. i think she is a great actress, and she seems like a nice enough person. i loved her in practical magic, to die for, the others, etc. but these days her frozen, waxlike face is just too distracting. i watched margot at the wedding and even though nic turned in a good performance i spent the whole time trying to figure out what she has done to herself.

  • She is so pretty. I think she and Marcia Cross from Desperate Housewives look a little bit alike. Anybody else think so?

  • both actresses are amazing and choose roles with strong characters, for those reasons i will see it for sure

  • Of course men love girl on girl action, they buy their movies, they pay to see this shit, but then it is completely different when it comes to prop 8 aint it?.. It’s ok to be a lesbian if you have sex with your partner for everybody to see, but if it is for love, and you wanna get married, they all disagree.. I hate the double moral of our countries, it’s fucked up..

  • The Danish Girl? That’s an odd title isn’t it? Well, the “true story” being Danish I guess it makes sense. I’m Danish and I’ve never heard of it. It’ll be interesting..

  • I am a post operative transsexual, and I think it’s disgusting that this Nicole Kidman is playing a transsexual. First of all, I think she’s a complete bimbo, and I think she should stick to playing dead people(the Others). Also, the fact that there’s supposed to be this girl on girl scene is utterly vile to me. I can tell you, I didn’t undergo expensive, painful operations to be with a woman! I think men who fantasize about female homos may as well be homos themselves. Look at it this way, if a woman wanted to watch two men have sex with each other, what would you assume about her sexual orientation?
Nicole Kidman Bimbo isn’t going to represent me in this sick movie!!!!!!!

    • What on earth is wrong with you? I’m transgendered too and attracted to men but your acting like MTF transsexuals can’t be lesbians! There are many MTF who are attracted to women, and there is nothing wrong with that.
You are the one misrepresenting the trans community, not Nicole Kidman. You should be grateful that two Academy Award winning actresses are going to play the parts in the TRUE story of the world’s first transsexual, Lillie Elbe (who was a lesbian). This is great for our community, your making it out to be a film about sex.

And btw Nicole Kidman is beautiful, whats with you people? You’re all bloody jealous

  • I thought my email address was supposed to remain private. I am not ashamed of who I am, but if I am harassed after this posting I will contact an attorney.

  • all you have to do is ask beet to remove it. nicely, of course. you did come here on your own free will after all.

  • I am really disappointed in Nicole Kidman. She has had so much plastic surgery that she looks like a plastic doll. I just can’t bear to look at her in any movie anymore…….. It’s a pity because I did really like her as an actress…….

  • I’ll watch it because it sounds like a brill story and because I’m Danish, it’ll rock to get Denmark a bit more out there.

  • Well thank goodness for the movie idea there is not enough storys about Real transexuals around. we are real people and not jokes to be had. I think the story must be about Lillie Elbe one of the first recognized Transexuals, i thought they were also making a film about April Ashley Britains first transexual.

  • Poor Emily’s post reflects the dysfunctional fear ridden “don’t you dare represent transsexualism in any other way than I experience it” view of life. These sad souls exist moment to moment terrified and angered by anything that even vaguely suggests that any transgendered person would choose a path slightly different than their own. The fact is, there are many paths, many motivations, and many choices for those who are transgendered. Nobody who is truly secure in themselves or their choices spews vile hatred at those who view life differently than they.

Instead of viewing a movie like this as increasing compassion and awareness of other gender choices, all they are capable of seeing are the ways a thing might threaten their emotional house of cards.

Sadly, the ‘angry transsexual’ as typified by Emily seems the norm, not the exception.

I can’t wait for this movie to come out. I’m going to die laughing watching all of the TS nut jobs writhing around in their blogs like snails under a magnifying glass.

  • why dont they have a real transexual play this role,

this world has a big problem with allowing transexuals to play female roles on tv

but they feel its okay to have females play a transexual

this double standard is very prejudice of the world, and it makes me really pissed offffffffffff

cant u straight people conquer up any talent to make another kind of movie

of course not beacuse only gays have good ideas and they steal them from us!

  • Being a pre-op transexual, I am insulted that Nic was chosen to play a mtf transexual. It would be more convincing and more real if her ex-hubby took the role. Why is it that mtf roles are regarded as humorous, but ftm roles can be thought of as romantic? I’m sure this will get reviews like “funny movie”. Just like transamerica. Which, despite what the jacket says, was a gripping and drmatic movie.

    • but how is an academy award winning actress playing this role humorous? As a pre-op transsexual I am honored that Nicole Kidman is going to play this part. And remember that Lille Ebe looked very feminine, I’ve seen pics of her, so if her ex-husband played the part it would look ridiculous! And btw the acting ability is more important than what the actors look like.

  • My goodness,
What’s all the fuss? I think Nicole’s a fine actress, but I never thought she was beautiful. Sh’s perfect to play a challenging part like this. I don’t know any transexuals (or maybe I do?) and I have no bad feelings about them or their issues. It seesm like a fairly accepted part of society, doesn’t it? Yet, haven’t enough movies of this type been made? And, yes, I could do without Shrek IV, too. Too much of anything is still too much. Go ahead, yell at me…
