New Beyonce: “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” Video

It’s been awhile since I’ve been impressed by Beyonce, but this new single and video are actually blowing my mind. I love it. It’s a reminder of why we fell in love with Beyonce in the first place. Very raw and sexy in a way only B can pull off.

She also released a video for her other new single, “If I Were a Boy.” While I applaud her awareness of the subjunctive mood, this one isn’t really doing much for me.

  • i don’t know… i really like “if i were a boy”. and i think the vocals are really good.
then again, it’s tough for me to totally sympathize with the video character, since probably a third of my favorite tv shows speak to my love of rooting for a male cop and his female partner to get together.

  • As much as I like Bey – the first song sounds dated… as though she’s done it before. However, she is SMOKIN!!!!!

  • I liked if I were a boy a lot better, the vocals the lyrics and the video. The first as someone said already has been done before, and it seemed like she was pretty much saying the same lines over and over again.

  • I hate “If I Were a Boy.” I change the station every time. Ciara did that already, and at least decently with “Like a Boy.” I like “Put a Ring on It” too. Catchy, different topic. Even thought I understand the B didn’t opt for a ring in her real life with Jay-Z but wears a tat on her ring finger–cuz rings are so materialistic.

  • Now THAT’S what a woman should look like, incredibly sexy and seductive with the right curves. However it’s obvious that hollywood likes those girls with a body of a ten year old girl and gigantic boobs. No wonder young girls get depressed and anorectic.

  • Liked both. First one was funky and fun. Second, loved the tune. She’s got an amazing voice. But why did the song have to end like that? I like the happy endings – plus it gives the guy an excuse to be “just like a boy.”

  • Beyonce is on fire in that Put A Ring On It vid. She is the undisputed dance queen. Janet had better take a look at this and stop that same ol same ol and give B a fight.

  • Ok first song was not that great to me but B looks hot as hell! And I’m sure with all the radio play it will grow on me. Second song I loved…. B is so amazing, she can dance her ass off one minute and almost bring me to tears the next!

  • This videos are called, what would happen if i were rich and talented but uninspired. The video for Single ladies is almost as crappy as the song, there is serious problems of pitching on that one, and in If i were a boy, there’s a beautiful ballad, that all of us are already bored of. So E- in improvement, and C- in vocals this time. I want to kill whomever told ya that single ladies was a good song… really.

  • Oh my god that was bloody awful actually i hate both songs. I don’t get Beyonce claims she wrote 70 songs and these are the 2 songs she picked to come out with first? Good god why?… This chick is highly annoying and what is with the damn witchblade glove on her hand? Damn it she Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just read on What Would Tyler Durden Do that her people stole the second song from a girl named BC Jean, any word on that? I’m inclined to believe it myself. Something about Beyonce just rubs me the wrong way

  • oh shiz, Tammie….WITCHBLADE GLOVE!!!! Lolololololol! That was awesome. I’ve been tryin’ to figure out what the hell that damn thing reminded me of and you just nailed spot on!

I can’t place why I don’t like both vids…not even dislike, but they both don’t move me either way.

The Singleladies song sounds like something from DC from like, uh…10 yrs ago. Wack. The dance moves are not innovative. The video is a bite off of Tina Turner in alot of the dance moves. Just not very exciting.

And, BTW, enough already with the damn “I’m a single-independent-wo-man-i-can-bringhomethebaconfryitinapan-blahblahblah” songs.”

We are women, we roar, we rock, uh, we know. We’ve got our Ambassador A. Jolie spreadin the gospel. No more songs about this shiz, please.

I got an idea, hows bout a song on how we are gonna kick the shiz out of adults that are abusive to children, pets & the environment? Uh-uh-Oh, Uh-uh-OH-OH.
    How bout’ that? just sayin’.

  • If ya like it then ya should have put a ring on it i love this song alot its the story of my life so all the single ladies if he like make show he put a ring on it

  • LOL
    Ms Mac Says
Put a Ring On It – direct rip off of Bob Fosse’s choreography for “Mexican Breakfast”,
    http://video.aol.com/video-detail/gwen-verdon-mexican-breakfast/3669500726.
This chic is so not original!!!

WHERE? LOL Other than the fact that both videos have three women in them and Beyonce can SING!!! LOL You have GOT to be kidding me! Beyonce is the hotness! She’s doing a great job and I’m totally looking forward to the new CD. And learn how to spell CHICK! LOL

  • Beyonce looks sounds and looks GREAT in both videos. I like both songs/videos.

About her video being a “rip-off” of http://video.aol.com/video-detail/gwen-verdon-mexican-breakfast/3669500726: Why does it have to be rip-off? Many artists/performers immulate other artist’s work and style–purposefully. I agree that the style of dance/video are similar, but maybe Beyonce’s video is a tribute to the Mexican Breakfast. Immulation, usually, is complemetary.

It’s like people saying Beyonce copied Ciara’s song “Like A Boy.” How ignorant!! The songs have the same theme, but can’t more than one person have a great idea about something?!

And………….some of the critiques of Beyonce’s work seem to be inspired by jealousy. Be honest with yourself: Beyonce is “fly.”

  • Beyonce is back! Her video “Single Ladies” and “If I Were a Boy” were awesome. She really taps in the heart and soul of her fans.

She is vibrant and mesmerizing in “Single Ladies” with her energy and uniqueness that made her a household name.

It is nice to see Beyonce’s softness in “If I Were a Boy.” This video is incomparable to any other. Beyonce has the unique quality of being able to add her flavor to anything she does and makes it stand out like no other.

    She outdid herself!!!
