Michael Moore to Release His Next Film Online, for Free

Love him or hate him, Michael Moore is going to be everywhere as this election gets closer.

Inspired by Neil Young and Radiohead, Michael Moore will release his new film online and for free.

The film, “Slacker Uprising,” follows Moore’s 62-city tour during the 2004 election to rally young voters. It will be available for three weeks as a free download to North American residents, beginning Sept. 23. An official announcement of the film is planned for Friday.

Moore said he considered releasing “Slacker Uprising” theatrically as “Michael Moore’s big election year movie” as he did with 2004’s “Fahrenheit 9/11,” which was highly critical of President Bush.

Instead, Moore opted for a symbol of gratitude to his fans as he approaches the 20th anniversary of his first film, 1989’s “Roger & Me.”

“I thought it’d be a nice way to celebrate my 20th year of doing this,” Moore said. “And also help get out the vote for November. I’ve been thinking about what I want to do to help with the election this year.”

What do you guys think?

Will you be downloading the latest Moore flick?

(Heh, you know what’s funny about this? I watched his last film, Sicko, online and for free, too. It’s just that doing so was less legal than it will be this time.)

  • Glad to see that all of North America can watch since he has many fans from up north.

Stand by for some Conservative asshole insulting his weight in 5, 4, 3, 2 …

  • What, he thinks nobody else in the world wants to see it, too?
    I would, and I’m in the UK….

I don’t always agree with him (his view of the NHS in ‘Sicko’ was very rose-tinted), but he’s usually got an interesting point of view.

  • You got to hand it to a guy (and who does not have faults) that sticks his neck out bravely in a country that increasingly is being commandeered by a cadre of Christian fundamentalist conservative assholes, hell-bent on changing the USA in to ‘Christian’ version of the USSR circa 1955. They sneak away our rights and freedoms to protect us from sin, all the while thumping the bible for Christ as they bad mouth everyone and everything. There is nothing Christian or Christ-like about their selfish self-serving actions. These deluded bastards are the only people who vote however. The people who have the most to loose don’t. Please get out and vote these false Christians out. We can’t let them have this country for another 4 years.

  • I hate that we’re from the same state. He’s a disgraceful liar that needs a dictionary to look up the word “documentary.”

  • Roger and Me was great. Everything else he’s ever done I’ve had less and less interest for…haven’t even seen Sicko yet. I’m sure I will eventually, just like this…but to beat republicans you have to be smarter than making them straw men. Michael Moore and people of his ilk are the reason that people like Sarah Palin and Anne Coulter feel justified in spouting off at the mouth. Maybe they would still speak garbage but Michael Moore is an easy target and gives republicans plenty of ammo to say how narrow minded or whatever liberals are. Hopefully this movie is balanced, but I highly doubt it. It will probably just be Moore preaching to the choir. How is that productive? And why make a “documentary” if you aren’t trying to objectively tell the truth. There are plenty of disgusting things republicans do there’s no needto twist facts to fit your agenda…that only helps them out.

  • Michael Moore interets me. He’s a controversial figure and certainly he means well and raises some good points. As for the bias or quality of his movies I can’t comment, having not seen them. The height of my Moore exposure is a letter he sent to fans via email about the financial crisis. A Rage Against the Machine video he directed and a cruelly parodied depiction of him in Team America!
