The McCain camp lashed out at Madonna on Sunday, after reports indicated that her Sticky & Sweet Tour compares him to Adolf Hitler.
Madonna’s apparent swipe at McCain came during a performance of the song “Get Stupid”, when the Republican contender’s image was flashed up alongside images of destruction and global warming as well as Hitler and Mugabe.
Towards the end of the song, pictures of Beatles star John Lennon, former US vice-president Al Gore, Indian Mahatma Gandhi and McCain’s Democrat rival Barack Obama appeared.
“The comparisons are outrageous, unacceptable and crudely divisive all at the same time,” said Tucker Bounds, who is both the campaign spokesperson for John McCain, and, judging by his name, hopefully also a bunny rabbit. “It clearly shows that when it comes to supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider any smear or attack off limits.”
Hey, did you guys catch that? His “fellow worldwide celebrities?” Get it? Because John McCain’s entire campaign platform is that Barack Obama is just a guitar and a pair of fishnets away from touring the UK as an opening act for Selena Gomez. Smooth, guys. Subtle and smooth.

As for McCain/Obama… this is a good smear race…McCain calling Obama a novice with no achievements and a pseudo celebrity and the Obama camp going after McCain as the old rich white guy with 7 houses…though Obama beat his income by @ $3mil last year; McCain’s wife is loaded with Budweiser $$… This is gonna get uglier, hope Bunny Rabbit can keep up :)
If Madonna really wants to help, she should keep her mouth shut. She will only incite the slack jawed, mouth breathers who favor McCain (only God knows why) to actually drag their knuckles out to the voting booth and cast their ballot for him.

You know what’s worse than celebrities spouting off dumb political opinions? When politicians’ camps feel the need to “respond.” Let dumb celebrities be dumb. These celebs are given way too much credit. If someone would vote one way or another based on something Madonna says I would say he/she is a lost cause anyway. Aren’t there more important things to worry about?
Either way, McCain is the “celebrity candidate. He had a cameo in Wedding Crashers and had a TV movie made from his book. And he dares to call Obama a celebrity.

I’m not really an Obama fan but McCain’s campaign is so slimy and nasty that I’ll probably vote for Obama anyways. I’m sick of his “Obama celebrity” bullshit- I was watching an old re-run from 2006 of Will & Grace last night and they made a joke about John McCain!

Obviously, everyone’s entitled to their own views, and Madonna has every right to put out whatever message she thinks is appropriate at her concert. However, I find the insinuation that a former POW should be compared to Hitler to be in pretty fucking poor taste. Not a huge McCain (or Obama) fan, but that’s really disgusting.
I find the whole POW thing pretty distasteful in general. Being a POW does not make him a better candidate. It means we owe him a great deal of respect for what he gave our country, but I’m sick of hearing about it in connection to his leading ability. We should vote for him because he’s a decent guy who might be able to get things done, not because 40 years ago he was tortured.
Not that anyone should vote Republican, I’m just saying.
