Check out this video about the “STFree Card,” which is basically a license with the date of your last STD test and its results. It’s being marketed to singles to help them in making safe sex decisions.

Can something like this make an impact on the spread of STDs? Will it just make people feel more comfortable about having unprotected sex? Or will people just get into the business of making a new type of fake ID?

I can’t see how this would work. You could for example, be tested one day and get a negtive result, aquire it that night, and pass it on a few weeks later. Unless you are being tested and re-issued with an updated replacemet card daily then its simply is no guarrantee. Im sure someone is going to cash in on the concept.

Marc: i think the point is safe sex. Which would mean getting one and making sure everyone you sleep with has one. Therefore you wouldn’t obtain anything to pass. It only works if a lot of people get them and then they truly use discretion. Then the additional factor is getting tested when you do have sex with some and don’t know whether or not their clean BEFORE you have sex with anyone else. I get it, I don’t think it’ll work that well.
Great concept, but just like other documents or IDs, there will be people out there providing fake cards for financial gains.
This will be a disservice to people because of the false sense of “protection”, especially the younger crowd.

Ultimately it relies on truthfulness and good judgment–two things that you could exercise without a card.

unless you got tested and updated your card every time you had sex with a new partner how will this work? this is dumb beyond words.
