Today's Evil Beet Gossip

This Made Me Cry!!!

Okay so today, on Foot Injury Day, you guys are just getting a series of stupid YouTube videos because I’m too hurted to do things that require thought.

This one honestly brought tears to my eyes. Soooo amazing!!

I spoke on the phone to a podiatrist who said I probably had a small fracture, but that I would be fine to fly home and then go to an ER in Seattle, which is my plan. My amazing wonderful beautiful friend Tiffany is out getting me an Ace bandage wrap and an ice pack for the plane. And my OTHER amazing wonderful beautiful friend Trish offered to pick me up at the airport and take me to the hospital. I am such a lucky young woman to have such incredible friends.

My entire foot is now blue, which had me worried that my foot was dying and was going to fall off, but after describing it to the podiatrist he said it was just bruising and that my foot would survive. So I guess I’m getting a wheelchair at the airport and sucking it up.

  • Sweet–although I am very skeptical that it went down that way. I must confess though that when they showed Christian the lion meeting up with them after a year and it goes running towards them, a teeny, weeny twisted dark part of me thought it would have been funny if Christian went for the dude’s jugular.

Sorry about your foot Beet. Sounds like a fracture to me. RICE (rest, ice compress and elevate) then imbibe (vodka, vodka and more vodka). Repeat as necessary.

  • Damn you Beet! I’m sitting here crying my eyes out. The two guys(?) kind of remind me of Sigfred and Roy though.

  • OMG! When the lion was walking towards them I totally thought you were screwing with us & they were gunna get attacked. I should have had more faith :-)
I hope your plane trip doesn’t suck too bad & you get to the doc & some good pain meds soon!
BTW I was outta town for 2 days & I’m just now catching up & I think you look super cute! I’m so glad we finally got to see a pic of you. I hate that some of the comments were mean. Thanks though, it’s nice to put a face with the beet!

  • i didn’t see the video, but as for your bad foot I hope it gets better but in the meantime remember to keep it elevated. Light massage from the foot up to the knee will help reduce the swelling – ice helps too!
Hope you are all better soon!

  • Sorry about your foot, just keep off of it. I liked the video, but I can’t stop bawling because of the message it sent out. I had been trying to get in touch with one friend, but last Sunday she died and now I can’t. I really regret now that I can’t tell her that I was trying to reach her and wanted to hang out again. I didn’t cry at her funeral and I’ve been keeping it all inside til now, so thank you for finally finding something that helped me cry for her. Thanks and once again sorry about your foot.

  • This video is amazing it totally made me cry. Ohh and im glad we were able to finally put a face to the evil beet even though you dont look very evil to me (ha ha ha). Hope you have a safe trip home.

  • believe it or not it is a man and a woman. The woman is the one who he goes to the most. This is the 4th time I’ve seen this and every time I get tearry.

  • Where did this video come from? (And I don’t mean YouTube.) I want to know if there are news articles or anything on this story please :)

  • wow, so i’m like tearing up at work, i thought he would like eat them. that video was amazing!

  • seriously, between bug bites and fractured feet i think you should reconsider traveling!

hope you feel better soon and that your flight isn’t too uncomfortable.

    drugs, ice, elevate, repeat!

  • Beet Darling, your foot will be fine, ice ice ice and stay off it as much as you possibly can, I know easier said than done. I speak from expirience here Beet, you are talking to the woman who just finished an 8 week IV antibiotic treatment for a bone infection in my big toe, I have been hooked up to an IV since about April 29th and just finished on June 23rd. I did the treatment at home which killed my life as these treatments were every 4 hours and 3 hour long ones.

I faced amputation and I ended up getting a 2nd opinion at a BETTER medical center in Boston, and I found this vascular surgeon Dr.Marc Schermerhorn who also specializes in Limb Salvage for Diabetics, and who is GORGEOUS told me my toe was healed the bozos at the other hospital were on crack and I could have my toe and my life back.

But I digress… keep the darn foot up Beet, it really does help.

    Kiss Leo!

  • beet,

i broke my foot last summer (walking while intoxicated) and my podiatrist said
that while most of his colleagues would probably recommend surgery, he told me that it would be just as long if i just wore a boot and used a bone stimulator (heh – yeah, i made just as many jokes about that as you can think of). he also said that while i shouldn’t go to work that day, it was no problem going to the yankee game that night – just the kind of doctor i like!

in the end, he said it would take 6-8 weeks – i was healed around 5.

so get a couple of opinions before scheduling any surgery.

and if you love that video – and those who don’t – what are you made of, anyway??? you’ll love this too! jessica the hippo – a great, great story:

just so you know, you will not be able to get ice or a frozen gel pack through airport security.

  • omg Beet im like histerical over here!
my cat just died 2 weeks ago and when he ran away once and i found him he ran to me like the lion ran to those people =[ now im crying even more!!!!! ahh. but i hope your foot gets better when you go to seattle!

  • That video was amazing. I didn’t cry, well, because I never cry, but it was very cool and touching.

(ps. I thought he was totally gonna chew their heads off : ) )

  • holy sht. me too! this is nuts. there’s some subliminal cry activator in there for sure. great video!

  • OMFG…. I cannot stop crying… That is the sweetest thing i’ve ever seen.. Thank you so much for sharing this with us Beet, it was awesome!!!

  • Hahahaaaa, shoot! This video is so awesome! I think there really is like some sort of subliminal cry activator… seriously. I can’t believe how touching it is!

Awww and chug on the vodka, beet. “Makes you feel better” Happy mending :)

  • I saw this a while back and cried like a baby back then so when it came up on cuteoverload and now here I didn’t watch it cos I thought it wouldn’t do anything to me the second time around, OMG was i wrong…

so after reading your comments I decided to go for it again, and the tears came like never before :)

this subliminal cry activator is craaaaazy!!!

  • omg i saw the comments everyone saying I CRIED I CRIED and i was like ok i probably ruined it for me and so I just watched it and CRIED

OMG SO SWEET IM STLL CRYING!!!

  • My dog (of sixteen and a half years) died last monday and now that damn lion has made me cry like a very small child again.
Damn you Beet! Damn you and your amazingly cute and very touching videos!

  • Elizabeth99, that is two men, not a man and woman in the vid…doubtless gay but who cares. There’s a whole DVD about Christian the lion and how these 2 guys came to own him (bought him from a department store in London as a cub – I think he was a Christmas novelty, bred from 2 zoo lions). Part of the video cover the old guy, whose name I can’t remember right now, who tamed & socialized lions and lived among them. Even he was amazed at how well trained Christian was when came over to Africa.
I love that moment in this vid where Christian recognizes them.

  • PS Beet, take care of that foot and do as told. Feet can take a looong time to fully heal. Can’t be rushed or you risk a lifetime of trouble.

  • this is how different people can be
you laugh at a terrible story such as Dimitri psycholoverboy
    it gives me the creeps
    you cry with this video
and I burst out laughing at the part
“he even introduces them to his wife”
    I can’t stop
    LOL

  • JS, the old guy’s name’s george adamson, he’s joy adamson’s husband, they had written the book that was turned into this oscar winning film: born free, yes, it’s about a lion… :)

the dvd’s up on you tube in 9 parts, just watched it a couple hours ago

here’s the youtube link to the dvd
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NR5xZndep8

  • oh, and BTW, george adamson died when he was 83, still in africa, trying to save a tourist from poachers, so the poachers shot him dead

his (by then ex)wife, joy adamson also got killed in africa some ten yrs b4 that

i just find this a fitting way to go
    esp at 83

  • Ah yes how could I have forgotten that. What a beautiful story, almost fated the way it all fell together for this gorgeous, intelligent animal. He could have so easily ended up in some crappy circus or zoo were it not for these guys.

A shorter version of this clip has been making the email rounds for months. Thanks Beet for posting it.

  • Are you people naive or just stupid?

They obviously didn’t release him into the “wild” as this video suggests. See the old guy with the walking stick? He takes care of the animals no doubt on a large protected property. These animals are about as wild as a dog that is kept on a farm.

Yes, it is a lovely “story” but it is bit like going to visit a dog that you gave away to a friend.

  • that’s soooo cute that he remembered them. when they said that he wouldn’t because he was wild now.
