Today's Evil Beet Gossip

The Media Is Lying to You

Sources are saying that Entertainment Tonight — which first announced (false) news of the Angelina twinsies being born last week — knew that the reports were false prior to running the television broadcast with the news. However, they moved forward with the broadcast anyway.

Shortly after the story was posted [on ET’s website] but several hours before the broadcast aired, [Jolie assistant] Goline told “Entertainment Tonight” that she was not the person with whom they had been corresponding, a person with direct knowledge of the conversation told The Associated Press. That account was confirmed by another person close to Jolie.

“‘Entertainment Tonight’ was told before the broadcast that their information came from an impostor,” said the second person. Both people spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly.

ET kept the story on their website without a retraction for days before they finally pulled it.

Someone’s totally getting fired over this.

  • Oh that evil, evil media, lol.

I love Entertainment Tonight. I have to say it’s funny to see them in hot water over something as silly as reporting the birth of Angelina’s twins when it wasn’t true (whether they knew it or not), but I have a feeling that the publicity they’ve gotten for their show and their website far outweighs any long-term effects, I’d say someone’s probably getting a promotion rather than getting fired.

  • Look at the size of her rock on her right hand! I’m surprised this hasn’t sparked more wedding rumours – Europeans wear their wedding rings on their right paws…

  • OMG, Good Potato. If those babies are born already that is just tragic. Angelina has reported that they are due in August and that is all she’s saying. They’d be at least two months premature if they came now, and, since they’re twins, they’d be smaller than a singleton preemie at that point. My kiddo was a singleton preemie born at the end of June and he was due September 1st. He spent 8 weeks in hospital before he could come home, and at that point he was on all sorts of medical equipment until just before Christmas. It was the worst 6 months of my life.

Back off the pregnant momma. Let her carry those babies as long as she possibly can.

  • it would be funny if the babies never come out and it was all a joke on the media to see just how much money they would offer.
