Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Yes of COURSE Kristin Davis Has a Fashion Line Coming Out

I mean, who doesn’t?

Kristin is teaming up with North Carolina-based department-store chain Belk Inc. to create a women’s line.

Dresses, denim, sporty separates, sleepwear and handbags designed by Kristin, priced between $38 and $240, will be available at 126 of Belk’s 307 locations throughout the southeastern U.S., with plans to expand into more locations next spring, and via Belk.com.

Says Kristin in a statement:

“The only way I would have done a line of clothing is to do it at Belk. I feel like I understand what the Southern woman wants to wear—it’s influenced my personal style so much growing up in the South.”

Okay, at least she’s going to be pricing her items on the higher end of the spectrum.

I mean, has anyone actually tried to wear Sarah Jessica Parker’s Bitten line? It’s dirt-cheap, and the pieces seem stylish, but you get what you pay for: every time I try on something from her line, it hangs terribly on me. And I don’t have a particularly difficult body to fit; I’m pretty standard fare. It shouldn’t be difficult to make clothes that fit me properly, and yet everything from Bitten just looks awful when I put it on. Has anyone else had better luck?

  • there’s no steve and barry’s in miami, but i bought a purse on ebay from her line and loved it. though i think purses always fit well :)

  • No, amen, Bitten is awful. Trendy (in the bad way), cheap, and fits badly. I’m pretty “standard fare” too.

I honestly won’t ever really understand why cheap clothing has to fit so damned badly. I mean, I understand that it’s cheap, but come on…

  • REALLY??? I have one a Bitten dress right now and people LOVE it! I love it! I go there for all of my wardrobe “fillers”…the straight leg jeans…I paid $14, now everything is $8.98…someone asked me if they were “designer” last time I had them on…some things are “hit and miss’, but what would one expect for $8.98 for each piece…? I feel I can’t go wrong for the price when all it is for a season…

  • I typed too quickly, but y’all understand…:-( And Kristin Davis, designing….I dunno about that…

  • The problem with Bitten is that it is almost entirely made from jersey material. Though jersey looks great on a mannequin, it falls horrible on anyone who has any curves or extra padding. I’m an average size 4-6 and have sworn off all cheap jersey products and have convinced my girl friends to do the same. Stupid cheap jersey trash (the material, not the people).

  • Where are the pictures of LiLo’s knickers in Japan? Please, I’m reaching desperation point….

  • $8.98 for like jeans?! That’s unheard of. They can’t possibly be quality to beat out target prices

  • These people never dress themselves so how can they possible be experts on dressing others? They need to be more honest and act like endorsers rather than designers. A famous stylist should collaborate with a designers and create a line of clothes, they are the people actually making the decisions for these stars.

  • So I totally agree. The line SUCKS we have one in Bowling Green, OH and it is just horrible. Looks good..until you try it on. Jeans fit weird, dresses are weird and I mean Im pretty easy to fit to.. Im a size 3 which is pretty standard.

  • Well, I’m not a size 3 or 4, but I have had excellent luck with the Bitten line. I cannot resist anything that’s cheap and good b/c I have no money, and I think the quality is pretty decent, considering I shop at Rugged Warehouse a lot. :) I got a peacoat from the line last winter and it was surprising to me how well it was made! And I have a sweater, a dress, and a few other things…I can never find jeans in my size there because apparently everyone in the South is the same size as I am, so I can’t vouch for them. The other pants I’ve tried on from Bitten and Steve & Barry in general are weird…a girl shouldn’t be able to wear a size 8 in one pair and have to get a 16 in another when she’s a size 10! But hell, for 8.98 I’ll rip my tag out!

  • I have three Bitten t shirts that fit GREAT… but they’re T Shirts, how hard can that be???? I have one pair of jeans that I was suckered into getting… and now they hang like M.C. Hammer pants in the crotch!!!! UGH! I believe they are made for sticks… I’m a nice regular sized woman with a butt and hips (that I love!) Anywho, I have a hard time finding clothes that fit me great anyway (long legs, shorter torso!), so I really didn’t expect much out of SJP’s line.

  • i only have jewelery and sunglasses from bitten, but when i tried on the clothes, they fit me nicely.
mind you, i am kind of a stick so…

  • I really wanted one of those light cotton pea-coat like jackets from the Bitten line, but every single one on the rack had strings hanging from literally every stitch. They looked like they had been put through the shredder before they were hung out for the customers. Totally cheap.

  • Personally I love the Bitten stuff. I’ve had great experience buying it and wearing it. It’s cheap and cute and fits me well.

  • You women speak Greek when you start talking about clothes and fashion. They say men are superficial :p

  • I have sooooooo much stuff from the bitten line!!! It fits me great and I feel really great in it. In fact I’m wearing a vest of hers right now. Cheap and wonderful!!!!!!!

  • My friend and I both bought a pair of black flats that were Bitten and they hurt sooooo bad. I went up a whole size from 7 to 8 and now they are fine… but let’s be real, that isn’t right!

  • Jesus f*cking christ EB, quit TELLING us what you look like and get posting naked pictures of yo ass.

    I mean, really…………

  • Bitten–hit or miss. We got it. I don’t do poor quality. PERIOD. So everything I’ve bought from there does NOT look like it cost $8.98. I don’t do cheap shoes, so I’ve never even looked at theirs, but mayber they are cool. I’ll never know. …But, an aside: anyone think Kristin Davis has a granny mouth? Look at that pic again. She is so average which is refreshing, but I don’t like her being passed off as anything other than that. She is not that cute. UGH

  • i love that dress she is wearing! and as for women’s clothes: is it too much to ask that sizes be standard? i hate that i can wear a 3 in some lines and yet in others i have to wear a 7. WTF? it just wastes alot of time because then you have to try everything on, regardless of what size it is. grrrr.

    • I totally agree! I would love to see men try taking four different sizes of pants, dresses, etc. into a fitting room every time they want to buy an article of clothing. For them a size 30 inch waist will always be a 30 inch waist. They don’t even have to try things on half the time!

  • I have 2 Bitten dresses and they fit me well and are surprisingly well made for having paid under $20.

One of them has a built in bra like strap, has a lining and some form of boning in the lining since its strapless. As a busty size 14 – finding something affordable while being somewhat stylish is UNHEARD of! But evrything else I tried on from the Bitten line; jeans, tee shirts etc were all total crap I must agree..

  • I have this one bitten strapless black dress with the bow in the front and I love it. It reminds me of the red strapless dress Charlotte wore in SATC. I get a lot of use out of it. The one thing I hate is that it attracts way too much dust. Every time I wear it I have to lint roll it to death!
