Today's Evil Beet Gossip

It’s Time for New Pictures of Leo!!!

Memorial Day weekend is always one of the slowest news times of the year. It’s the first major holiday of the year, so everyone gets the hell out of town — this includes publicists, paparazzi and tipsters. So no one’s taking any pictures, no one’s issuing or leaking any stories, and it’s boring as hell.

Instead of sitting at home and waiting for something to happen, I took Leo to the Northwest Folklife Festival, accompanied by my friends Trish and Jesse, their Great Dane Bruter, and their neighbors, who brought their bulldog, Bacon. It’s hard to really tell what the Folklife Festival is about (I kept asking and never got a straight answer), but there are lots of the following: people, food, art, music, dogs and weed. There’s this huge grassy section where the neo-hippies hang out in their funny neo-hippie clothes and get way stoned. That alone was worth the trip. I wanted to take pictures of them (“The Stoner Exhibit”) but then I figured that would be rude.

Anyway, our group got a ton of attention, wandering around with three dogs of VERY different sizes and shapes. It was pretty much the cutest thing ever. I took a video so you all could see how adorable it is.

I’m learning that Leo is very, very friendly with people — he loves to be held, cooed at, played with, etc — but other dogs bore him quickly. I kept trying to get him to play with the other dogs, but he had way more interest in playing with the people. He’s not mean to other dogs or anything, they just hold very little intrigue for him.

Anyway, I’ve included here the video of the three dogs hanging out, and some new pics of Leo so you all can see how beautifully he’s growing up. He’s still at only four pounds, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to put on a whole lot more size. The vet continues to assure me that he is healthy, and he’s probably just a naturally very small dog. I love him!

  • @Amanda:

I guess what I should have said is that it’s the first major holiday of the year when you get a day off from the traditional five-day work week.

  • It looks like he’s trying to hypnotize you with cuteness on the leo_couch3 picture.

  • He’s starting to look a lot like a welsh corgi. I forget what type of dog you said he was. He’s such a feisty little cutie.

  • I wonder how far he could be drop kicked?

Hey, I am sorry. Whenever I see small dogs like this it is the second thing that pops into my head after “ah, so cute”.

  • @ Donkey: Half a football field with a good punt at most. Not the most aerodynamic shape so even though toughest of legs would have a killer time. I’m pretty sure that thinking like that is a guy thing.

Anyway, he’s all sorts of awesome.

  • It’s not just a guy thing…I thought that too! Fly, Leo, flyyyyyyyyyy (sorry beet, he Is very cute)

  • i hate being like the tenth person on here to say the same thing…but he is so wee and cute! i love that he’s so tiny that he has a little harness instead of a collar.

  • Ooo he is so cute…and the camera loves him! Look at him! He is working that blue harness. Work it out Leo!

  • You should check out pictures of welsh corgis. They are adorable and look a lot like Leo. I’m surprised he’s terrier/chihuahua.

  • I <333333 small dogs (I have a Pomeranian). Leo is so freaking precious!

ps: I haven’t seen any ‘I haven’t smoked today!’ updates lately, beet. Hmmm???? How’s that going?

  • That harlequin great dane is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! My goodness!!!

    Leo’s pretty cute, too.

  • oh he a cutie… that scooby doo of a great dane wanted to eat leo for a snack

  • he needs one of those spiked collars, cuz he’s just so bad ass lol
Leo the ankle biting, crime fighting, barking at leaves bad ass

  • and damn it…. now I have a SERIOUS itch to hit up the shelter in the town over and rescue a kitten. I think I just might!

  • pic one caption: bow down and kiss the paw, bitches!

Jesus… I must get away from this thread. You’re making me want to stock up on baby manimals!

  • I love when you post videos about Leo. He’s so wiggly and happy and cute, and your voice is so pretty. You can really feel the love between dog and owner!

  • As a cat owner, I often stop people with VERY cute dogs and ask to say hello to their pet so I can get a little “dog therapy” (what the cats don’t know about won’t hurt them). Rest assured that you and Leo would most definitely be asked! What a little canine beefcake!

  • he one’s where he’s showing you the whites of his eyes bulgin make me want to squeal a little inside, he’s so cute!!!!!!!!! and tiny!!!

  • also, my brother-in-law has a lovely dog, and ever since she was a puppy she didnt have any interest in dogs, she just sniffs them then ingores them, but she loves humans so much!
    She really is one of the nicest dogs ever, and so i personally think dogs that get along best with humans are the best dogs to have :}
