Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Things I Am Embarrassed to Admit I Enjoy

The smart marketing folks over at New Line have created a little application that allows you to “hack” into Carrie Bradshaw’s MacBook and snoop around.

It’s insanely fun. At least, it is for me, because I love the rush that comes with looking at something I’m not supposed to be looking at. Even when that something belongs to a fictional character and is a part of a worldwide marketing effort. I’m so easy to brainwash.

But here’s where it gets really cool — it’s actually a game! The characters IM you, and you chat with them for a bit, and then they ask you a question, and you have to snoop around Carrie’s computer to find the answer!! If you get all four questions right, you get access to Carrie’s hard drive, which has additional teaser clips and cool little notes. It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but then I kicked some ass.

I know, I know. I’m way too old to think this is cool. But I think it’s cool. So there.

  • I see why it is so much fun!!! It’s like I can control Carrie’s MacBook from an internet window within my iMac! This whole Mac-within-my-Mac experience is a rush! I think I shall hit the iBong again and try to unlock the hard drive. Wish me luck!

  • Hah, I can’t get passed the first question either.. I didn’t really look for more than 3 minutes, but, that’s enough for me to assume I’ll never find it.

  • well.. the answer to the first question is in the stickies
take a look and u will fund it!
please someone tell me the other ones haha

  • It was fun for a few minutes, but I was disappointed once I unlocked the HD…nothing good. The movie looks disappointing.

  • Wow, good way to escape reality lol

I agree with Dodo; it seemed so boring after unlocking it.. Hmmm

  • #2 is 200; but where is the fashion show???

If you aren’t a Mac user, I think it would be really hard.

    But I am on a Mac :}

  • it’s a friday night and i’m unlocking carrie’s hardrive! oh well! it was entertaining….cute idea :)

  • >This whole Mac-within-my-Mac experience is a rush!

Wow it must be fun to pretend you are part of the cultural elite who think they are “artistic” because a corporation makes commercials that try to connect a brand with a lifestyle. Wow you use a Mac and are young and hip. Wow you payed for an overpriced machine that crashes just as much as any other computer out there.

Mac people make me chuckle. They think they are being “rebellious” and artistic by not buying a PC “business computer” when in fact they are just sheep buying into a massive advertisement campaign and following the other sheep who think they are also being “rebellious” and artistic.

  • Who’s the designer in the auction question? Great way to help with the one-week-left-jonesing till the movie comes out. TY beetie!

  • Oh Donkey Punch…are you jealous of my Mac? I’m glad I could make you chuckle with envy. You’ll have to excuse my brevity, but I don’t want my hazelnut latte to get too cold ;)

  • Donkey Punch-
Sounds like a case of Mac envy to me! I don’t fit your profile as young or hip, nor am I a barnyard animal. As a designer, the Mac is a better computer than a PC. I’ve certainly never thought of myself as superior to my PC using pals, but thanks to you I now can join the ranks of the cultural elite. Cool!

    Cinnamon-
The answer to the auction question is Andre Leon Talley.

  • this sounds like a pc-mac commercial, jeez…. all the mac peeps are laid back and the pc is all defensive….. im also a mac btw, and like it because i find it easier to use than a pc…

and what’s the answer to #2?????

  • I SECOND LAH-DEE-DAH…c’mon i’ll go hit the ibong with u and our amazing macs,,,, i know exactly how u feel! Screw Donkey Punch!

  • Oooh, I want to be 7% of the market share that actually believes the corporation’s averts that they too can be artists if the follow like sheep and buy a Mac. No thanks.
