Christie, you’ll recall, has been on the wrong side of marital infidelity in the recent past.
What do you guys think?
Does intelligence have anything to do with a woman’s willingness to sleep with a married man? Or to cheat in a committed relationship?
Additionally: Is Christie equating a lack of intelligence with low morals? Is she implying that this truism holds only for women?

I totally agree w/ Christy on that one! Barbara is making herself look like a dumb skank and completely ruining her longtime legacy as a respectable journalist and woman. It just sucks for those that admired her …now Barb looks like she mighta suckd her way to the top..gRoss..
She completely destroyed her credibility with this useless admission of her past transgressions…but i guess sex sells, right?
Maybe she means that in her eyes intelligent women are less prone to have affairs with married men due to reasons of self-protection.
That is, assuming that intelligent women are the ones who are capable of knowing what the repercussions of having an affair with a married man might be.
Being a mistress whose entire romantic life occurs on the q.t. and who is the one who is left alone when the relationship ends while wasting her time on a man who never could actually acknowledge her strikes me as rather hard.
I would avoid it at all costs.

I think she was having a midlife, better yet, end life crisis and got sick of her ‘intelligent and respected female journalist’ mold so she resorted to the one thing that would get attention at her age. I do agree with Cristi that intelligent woman just don’t do that and definitely wouldn’t PUBLISH it let alone admitting it for their own glory. Tsk tsk tsk, so uncoutch, so…. low class. Bitch.

Intelligent women shouldn’t have affairs with married men. It is a stupid thing to do. It happens and even the woman involved knows it’s stupid but hey, we all do stupid things, no matter how smart we are.
What I don’t get is Barbara blathering on about it now. She’s shilling for that book like she’s down to her last 10 bucks. She’s doing every entertainment show, being interviewed by anyone. I had absolutely no intention of reading that book but I really don’t have to now because she’s already spoken about the best parts on Entertainment Tonight.
I think Barbara figures, “hey, I’m old, I gotta tell some good stories.” I don’t think she thinks that it is a big deal anymore. Not that his family would agree of course. Maybe after all those years of ferreting personal information out of of other people she decided it was her turn to share. And probably to sell more books too.
Has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. Woman can justify anything. I really do mean ANYTHING.

I don’t think intelligence has anything to do with it- the heart wants what the heart wants. While I am in no way endorsing cheaters and saying that it is okay, you have to remember that if a married man cheats with a single woman, people ALWAYS blame the single woman and NOT THE MARRIED MAN. Why not blame the married man for straying from his wife, the single woman isn’t cheating on anyone, and she isn’t committed to the married man’s wife. I am sure it’s not the case in Barbara Walters situation, but often married men don’t admit to being married and hood wink the single gals out there. Before everyone gets all over me, I just ended a very long relationship with a man who cheated on me the whole time we were together. I would confront him with my suspicions and he would tell me that I was crazy and that my paranoia was going to kill us. Turns out, a friend of his who couldn’t stand seeing me torture myself over my “paranoia” anymore, told me that I was indeed right, every accusation I had made was a correct one. I made the mistake of calling him the other night over some things that were missing from my house, thinking he may have had them, anyway as he is telling me what a bitch I am for treating him so bad, a woman in the background says loudly “I can’t wait to have your big c#$% inside me”. I was stunned. How could someone lie and blame another person for the failures in a realtionship and then turn around within days and have someone at his house and allow them to say such a thing to the person they ALLEGEDLY at one time loved? My point, I guess there really wasn’t one, I just had to get this off of my chest and I am so embarassed and hurt, I can’t talk to anybody that I know about it. Sorry for turning a Barbara Walters post into my own personal forum of misery.

Of course she didn’t mean that higher IQ = less likely to cheat. She meant it’s stupid to cheat. It’s a sign of low emotional intelligence, or at least immaturity. As someone who’s been on both sides of that situation, I agree with her. Not sure why Christie Brinkley should be asked about Barbara Walters, but at least her answer was straightforward.

Oh this is payback. Years ago, Barbara interviewed Christie (when she was married to Billy Joel) and tried to make her look like an idiot. At one point, Barbara even asked Christie to “look intelligent” and Christie got this puzzled look on her face while Barbara smiled like a cheshire cat. She and Billy Joel publicly complained about the interview and how insulting Barbara was after it aired.
There is no correlation with between a woman’s intelligence and cheating; however, there is a correlation between a woman’s intelligence and wearing heels on the Dance Dance Revolution pad. That little girl behind her is totally tattling. You go little girl!

Well I guess Christy is not very bright being that she also CHEATED on Billy Joel then married the loser who knocked her up. She is just angry about the recent interview that Barbara did with her former “perfect” man. Many intelligent men and women have affairs so lack of intellect has nothing to do with it. Lack of moral fiber plays a huge part in it however.
