Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Would You Wear This Shirt?

Princess Diana T-shirt “She’s Dead Get Over It”

It’s been on sale for a week, and it’s causing quite the controversy.

Personally, I think it’s ridiculous and unnecessary. And this is coming from someone who calls herself the Evil Beet.

I mean, a few months after Titanic came out, this girl came to school wearing a shirt that said “The Ship Sunk. Get Over It.” And it was pretty much the funniest thing in the world.

This? Is not funny.

But it’s on sale for $49.95. Jesus! That’s a lot of money for a fucking t-shirt that isn’t even very witty.

I went to Target today to buy an alarm clock and, in typical Target style, left $330 later. It happens every time I go to Target. I need to start including “Target disaster” in my monthly budget. But, like, for $330, I left with like five bags full of shit. I got three dresses, two “sleepwear gowns” that I plan to wear as normal dresses, three pairs of shorts, a sweater, six polo shirts, two tank tops, a laundry bag, two pairs of underwear, a pair of shoes, scissors, eyebrow tweezers, pens, two notebooks, a blow-dryer, 18 clothes hangers and — you guessed it — an alarm clock.

And you’re telling me to spend $49.95 on your stupid t-shirt???

I think not.

  • that’s fine, Beet, if you can afford it all…and NEED it! So, if you haven’t worn/used these items in the next month, then you’ll probably need a referral to a psychiatrist for your hoarding disorder. At least it’s Target, though, and not a place where they really sell expensive stuff!

  • That t-shirt is not acceptable at all. Her death was a terrible tragedy, a great loss of our time. I would never wear that shirt. And I mean never. As in, I am homeless and naked and someone gave me that shirt to wear, I wouldn’t. I have more respect for her memory, and her life.

    • imright there w you . cant understaind why people would even start something like this . im so upset its jus so wrong.

  • Not only is the shirt a tad on the side of uncouth, but what’s with the model’s hard little nipples right next to Di’s face. That’s very unroyal.

  • Target had that same effect on me…I went in there for a shirt and left $100 later…and I was only in there like 10 minutes.

That shirt = No Class. Very tacky.

  • no. that is horrible. people have no class when it comes to respecting the dead anymore! The Marilyn sex tape, Heath’s fam fighting over money, the same with ODB’s mother and wife fighting over his estate YEARS after his death. it’s gross. people should just let the dead rest in peace. this shirt is disgusting. and her grabbing her tits makes it even more disrespectful.

  • Ummm, honey, you live in Seattle now. You won’t get to wear tank tops and little dresses until the beginning of July, and then it will be too cold again by the end of August!

Don’t worry, I do the same thing too. Only this year it’s worse cause I’m preggers and don’t have any clothes :D

  • It might not be nice but it’s true. why are we still talking about the death of royalty? It’s been over 10 years, it’s time to move on and focus on things that are important like the death of 4,000 soldier in Iraq. Can we finally shut up about her???

  • oh boy, martin. you make it sound like no body talks about the damn soldiers. the iraq war is definitely a larger topic than princess diana’s death. no one should ever be told to shut up about someone dying, so how bout you take your cold comments elsewhere.

  • I’m surprised you remembered the alarm clock. Knowing me, I’d forget why I was there in the 1st place and still spend the $330. Thanks for telling us what you got, I was curious. That sounds fun!

Yes, that shirt is tacky, and a ripoff!

  • What impact did she have on any of our lives Rita? She had a big wedding I remember being on TV. She had two nice boys (who I do feel sympathy for). But otherwise she’s just a rich celebrity. Why on Earth does the average American still care? There are a lot more pressing issues and if you watch the news, Dianna is about equal to Iraq in terms of coverage. It’s kind of sick.

  • Actually, I think this shirt is a HELL of a lot more funny than the Titantic shirt. The Princess was just one person. That boat sank and HUNDREDS died. The bigger the tragedy, the less funny it becomes on a T-shirt, imo.

  • Even if you could care less about someone’s death you don’t have to be so fucking rude and downright retarded about it.

I loved Princess Diana, and even if I didn’t know who the hell she was this would still outrage me.

  • Uhm, I hear a hell of a lot more from the average american about iraq than diana. Its sad how people get bitter towards others for sympathizing over a famous persons death. People forget that she was actually a good person, and only focus on the fact that so many people who didn’t know her actually care. Which, quite frankly, pisses me off to no end. Listen, my brother and best friend are both in army. Believe me when I say that I care about the soldiers just as much as everybody else. If not more. However, it’s not necessary to say we should throw someones death to the side because theres other people dying. No matter who they were, its just not right. I understand that there are more pressing issues, but its a little harsh to say people should just forget.

  • *confession* – I just had to return a pair of shoes at lunch which I bought on my earlier spree…and left with over $100 worth of stuff AGAIN. And it fit in TWO BAGS!!!!! stop me before I target again.

  • I have no idea about Target
I shop Max Mara,Cavalli,Balenciaga,Armani,Carolina Herrera,Escada…Max Azria sometimes too.Do they sell those at Target? If they do,I’ll be there too!
As for the T-shirt,I’d say it’s so distasteful,I refuse to make any additional comment about it.

  • The shirt is crass but accurate. For the past ten years, every year the media dredges up some old conspiracy theory discounted only after weeks of pointless chatter. Every year some opportunist releases some new book claiming new insight into her life and death. Enough already. She is dead and she’s not the first or most important person to ever die so either we start treating every good person the same way or shut the hell up about this woman already and move on. She should get one day a year and no more. …which also means, no T-shirt either.

  • That shirt is not only sleazy and disrespectful, it’s capitalizing on her death AND making more people remember it and talk about it. So for people who say the shirt’s message is right, I think you’re missing the bigger picture. (except for Mellow, who I think gets it.) If you think Diana should be forgotten/left in peace, don’t sell frikkin’ T-shirts with her picture on them…period!

    And, yeah, Target’s great.

  • Beet, I am in the same boat you are in. I go to Target to get laundry detergent and end up leaving with one thing from each department in the store. Target is my weakness. I love it! I can’t get enough of it. As far as this stupid tee shirt, the price is totally excessive and I thought statement tee shirts are out?

  • Know what I like? I like that you used like twice in one sentence and neither time did you mean like.

wouldn’t be caught, like, dead in that shirt.

    i love this…

  • > a great loss of our time

Oh please! She was a rich bitch that married another rich asshole despite knowing that the press would hound her.

She was a terrible mom that shipped her kids off to boarding school.

Yes she did some charity work but all these rich royals do that to keep the poor working class brits from rioting and killing the royal family.

  • Donkey Punch,I have no idea about her qualities or misshaps because every celebrity gets good and bad press
I think of her as a woman
happy or unhappy as we all are sometimes
and I am sure she did not deserve to die that way
so I’m compassionate about her as I am about human beings in general

  • I agree Mamba but my comment was aimed at people who paint her as a saint. She was part of the wealthy elite that could afford to spend her days doing a bit of charity work while exploring the world.

Sure she seemed delicate emotionally. There are a lot of working poor that are also delicate emotionally but still need to put food on the table for their families. They don’t ship their kids off to boarding schools…they actually raise them.

Those kids probably knew their nannies and butlers better than their own mother.

  • thats pretty mean especialy because people say she changed the world and stuff…im wondering what kind of shirt they will make for her ugly ass when she dies.

  • Did Camilla make this?

Okay, so I am so bad with Target that my son calls it “church”. I came up with that when I need to hide my habit and it just sounds so much nicer than telling people I go to Target several times a week. Now they just think I am really religious. If Tom can have Xenu, let us have Target.

  • If the boys were raised by their “nannies and butlers” then how did they turn out so well?

  • >how did they turn out so well?

They did? All they do is party and hit on strippers (not that is a bad thing).

Big news recently is how Prince William took a RAF Chinook helicopter (probably one of the biggest helo in existance) to go pick up his brother so they can fly at the tax payer’s expense to a bachelor party.

  • This is by FAR the most TACKY and OFFENSIVE T-shirt I have EVER SEEN!!!!! Why not one that says “Diana LIVES FOREVER”…. So Get Over It……??? Now THAT’S a T=Shirt I would Wear!!!!!

  • Donkey Punch I understand that reaction about shipping the kids to boarding school, as I know people who do it and I just could not.
In two years my eldest is going to University and my heart is already cringing
Maybe I am not normal after all, sort of oldfashioned mother
Maybe royals are supposed to do what they do,no matter what, play by the predetermined rules, although I remember some articles stating that she had had a different approach to the boys’ education, regarding what the queen wanted and thought appropriate
I still think she deserved to be alive, anyway

  • i’ve changed my mind. when the press publishes photos of princes william and harry wearing this shirt, then i will wear one as well.

  • This is absolutley ridiculous, and unnecessary. Princess Diana was the peoples princess, this beautiful woman has passed away and just because of the media controversy surrounding her death it doesn’t mean people have to resort to wearing a horrible t-shirt due to her name being around so much. Have some consideration. I’m sure people all over the globe will be disgusted and appaulled and as a brit myself i am shocked.

  • Diana dying was a terrible thing, but people die every day, and she died years ago. people still go on and on about how it was such a terrible thing and yes it was, but people do need to get over this now as it was so long ago that she died and after all, she is only another human being like the rest of us. though i must say personally i dont think she needs a t-shirt that will only bring more attention to the matter.

  • titanic was less funny as far more people died. it was not just a sinking ship. (just thought i would point this out as i forgot to in my other comment).

  • i can not beleive sumone would even put that damn shirt on. god will make you pay i promise you that.you have alot less suport than you think! karmas a bitch! you are very sad people !

  • we are not going to just get over it. because she was killed in thats a really bad thing to kill sumone. in you people are goimg to take the killers side! thats very wrong so deal w what come you way!

  • This is one of the best t-shirts ever made. Fuck Respect and fuck Diana. She’s dead mates, get over it.
