Instead of doing that, though, she’s releasing the album’s cover art.
The album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, is scheduled for a May 20 release. This cover photo was taken in Louisiana, where the album was recorded.
This is so, so weird. It’s as if I were like, “Hey, guys, I’m going to write a book. What I’m going to do is take all of Walt Whitman’s poems and rewrite them in my voice. I’m calling it Leaves of Ass. It’s gonna be awesome.”

That cover is reprehensible. Every aspect of it — her heinous dress that washes her out, the vaginal tree frame-thingie, the My-So-Called-Life font, EVERYTHING.

It looks cheap enough to remind me of the late 70’s and early 80’s, so I guess it is right on for Tom Waits.
Tom Waits = ((60’s New Orleans Soul) – (Soul & Talent) + (Pretentiousness)) * gallons of alcohol.
I guess that kind of puts it in place with how I see Scarlett: cheap, plastic, talentless, and a 2nd rate imitator of better things.

I just think it’s kind of lame that it’s all Tom Waits’ covers. It’s like a karaoke album, and the one song I heard just sounds like her singing along in her car or something. I used to love her, but then realized she seems kind of prententious..
