Hawthorne Heights Guitarist Died of Drug Overdose

Casey Calvert from Hawthorne Heights

Despite his bandmates’ assurances that Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert was “not doing anything illegal” at the time of his death, it appears the 25-year-old did die of a drug overdose.

His death was an accident caused by the combined effects of opiates and the antidepressant citalopram and the anti-anxiety medication clonozepam, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Very, very sad.

DRUGS KILL, PEOPLE!!!

This is what is going to happen to Britney!!!

  • It is my understanding that the guy was NOT on any illegal drugs and the opiates found in his system were attributed to Vicodin that was prescribed to him after a root canal. Sad.

  • We’re so obsessed with illegal drugs but not so much with *prescribed* drugs! They’re the killer. I believe it’s like half a million people in US die each year from drug mistakes/interactions, yet we focus all our $$ on the illegal drugs that kill in the 10’s of thousands.

As long as we have our correct focus….

  • I totally know what goes with my NARCOTICS and what will kill me with my NARCOTICS. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out this stuff.

  • darth ur comment was very ignorant .. i hope the same is said about u when u croak ….

  • you are stupid, hawthorne heights is the best and did not support drugs. if you would buy one of their cds, (silence in black and white), you could read they do not support anything to do with hurting yourself, or anyone else. if your going to spread stupid rumors like this around, you dont deserve to live. get your facts straight before you spread things around.

  • you kno wat guy below me FUCK YOU!!! casey calvert was an amazing gutarist and if you dont think so FUCK OFF!!

  • DUDE he did not die of Drugs Get your story straight… he died if a heart attack and an asthma attack stupid

  • Drugs kill. it dosnt matter if the were illegal or not ppl can abuse anything. So whatever martindog and for you Samantha Jones if it was for a root canal he would of had a prescribed amount and he wouldnt of overdosed so ur gay. we shud be sad and not to drugs end of story.

  • that Parth Paul guy is fucking ignorant hawthorne heigths is a awesome band and Casey Calvert is awesome too… just because you dont know who he is doesnt mean u can be a dick..i mean a person died have a little fucking respect.

  • he was a good man!!! I think he made hawthorne heights such a good band and yea you should care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow… this is depressing…. i cant believe hes dead… so sad…
and to think i used to take antideppresant pills… i could of died!
i used to have massive headaches when i took ’em… so i stopped…
well we all miss you casey calvert!!
your amazing skills will live on in our hearts!

  • His death was accidental his antie-depresant pill misxed together with the root canal drug the doctter gave him it was very rare and accidetal no one knew it qould effect them like that.

  • I am not positive but I am pretty sure that he died from an asthma attack, I know someone that is pretty close to the band and I don’t think they would lie to her about it.
also in their new songs “rescue me”, it says:
Rescue me, from everything, I just wanna live, I wish I could breathe

which I think is about the asthma but I could be wrong,
however drugs do kill whether that was casey’s case or not.

  • “Drummer Eron Bucciarelli issued the following statement:

From the time of the incident we suspected a possible drug interaction as the cause. Casey wrestled with depression for as long as we knew him. He saw numerous doctors and took an ever-changing array of medicines to get better. He finally had his depression under control. According to the toxicology report, the cause of death was due to a fatal interaction between depression meds, anxiety meds and an opiate. Opiates being mentioned along with the term “substance abuse”, coupled with “rockstar” stereotypes immediately conjure up images of hard drug use and addiction, which simply couldn’t be further from the truth in Casey’s instance. What the toxicology report doesn’t show is that prior to us leaving for tour, Casey had a root canal, and was prescribed Vicodin (an opiate) for the pain. Once again, Casey was not involved in anything illegal nor was he a substance abuser.”
