Cho Seung-Hui Notably More Adroit with Mass Murder Than Playwriting

newt11645choap.jpg

AOL has released copies of some of the Virginia Tech shooter’s “disturbing” ventures into the world of creative writing, the plays Mr. Brownstone and Richard McBeef. These are disturbing more in a this-guy-got-into-Virginia-Tech? way than in a this-dude-is-gonna-kill-32-innocent-people-and-then-himself sort of way. They’re puerile, really, more than they’re frightening. And this kid was an English major. I’d be frustrated, too.

  • I agree with LK– it is way to soon to be even THINKING about posting a joke about this horrible tragedy. This type of post is insensitive and unnecessary. Usually i am a fan of EvilBeet, but this goes way to far.

  • I had no intention of poking fun at the horrific events that unfolded on Monday. It is always a tragedy when innocent lives full of promise end too soon, and, as I mentioned earlier, the families and loved ones of the victims are in my prayers.

But poking fun at the cowardly piece of shit who did this? I don’t have a problem with that. We should start on that ASAP, before every mainstream media outlet turns this twit into some dark, mythical, evil mastermind that every ill-adjusted, socially repressed teenager can look upon with awe. Because did you read those plays? This kid was a fucking tool. He was an angsty loser with a poor ear for dialogue and the childish notion that violence is a solution. The media is playing this shit out the way they love to — oh, he was so dark, such a dark, brooding soul, so deeply disturbed, you can see it in his writing — and fuck that shit. That image appeals to people. Not to me, but to unhappy, socially inept teenagers across this country who dream of one day having the media write about how dark and brooding and tortured they were. So I want to make clear that this kid was not something extraordinary and should not be treated as such. He was a shitty writer, just like he was a shitty human being, and what he did reflected his cowardice and his inability to think creatively. And I just want to make sure someone’s out there saying that. That was the intent, and I apologize if someone was hurt by it.

  • I refused to post about the VT tragedy on my blog cause I feel in doing so it makes this evil killer a celebrity and may cause someone else to be a copycat. By making a joke out of a tragedy so horrible is irresponsible!! And is really offensive to the families of the people affected by this horrible tragedy! what were you thinking Evil beet????

  • I am fully supportive of this post. The more lame we can make a mass murderer appear, the less likely there will be copycats.

  • I’m supportive too. It didn’t sound like a joke to me, the dude seriously did not have writing skills and he was a English major….talk all over that the writings were so “distrubing” he was turned into a counselor, those writings are not disturbing, we are heading into a society who whitewashes everything and no one is allowed to speak or think differently from the rest.

  • Have you seen the photos released of Cho as of yet? The media is already making him seem “scary” and is instilling far more fear into America than is necessary just to get ratings. The media are the true criminals, not Cho. If it is true that Cho sent a package to NBC, why is it necessary to display this all over the 6:00 news? Why is it scarier to see him with two guns than it is to see him in a student ID? He is the same person, but now we see him as a monster rather than a highly angry college student who could see this piece of shit world for what it truly is. I don’t blame him for snapping in a world where no one is allowed to be an individual. I, too, deal with this anger through writing. In no way do I think it is right to kill a massive amount of people to deal with this anger, but I do believe that Cho must have been fed up with America’s bullshit media to the point of snapping. Look at the latest photo….really look at it. Do you see a crazy killer on the verge of snapping? I do not. Look at his face. We are distracted by the “scary” guns. His face tells the whole story; a scared kid not knowing of any other options. The true criminals, again, are the media for dissecting this person further than necessary, and the American government for allowing just about anyone to buy guns. I realize that this blog will set fire to many who read it, but those who see my response as insensitive to the victims do not see life as it truly is. This world is over, and Cho saw it for what it is. Stop pretending that what we do even matters. We disrespect each other, we disrespect ourselves, and we disrespect the earth we live on and expect no ramifications. People will wonder forever why Cho did what he did when the answer is right in front of us. People spend their entire lives wondering what the purpose of living is and hide behind the fear of being judged for staying true to who we are. Violence in this country is at an all time high, and this violence is the ultimate product of decades of disrespect. Say what you will that it is “too soon” to say these things about this tragedy, but the truth is that it is far too late to say them. No one at this point will listen because we are too arrogant to care. Trust me, this will not be the last incident of violence from a disgruntled American, so please do not act so horrified and shocked when it happens again. This repsonse sickens me.

  • No.. the person who killed 32 people is the real criminal. The media are irresponsible for sowing these photos and videos, but NOTHING justifies Cho’s behavior. If he wanted to kill himself, fine. If he was sick of being bullied do what normal people do, become succesful and tell them to go f – themselves. Cho was a coward and lunatic and deserves to rot in hell. Posts like your puffychop are the ramblings of an insane emo. Of course it hard to be an individual, it has been throughout history, but what is being an individual. To you it seems like you’d like to do what you want, contribute nothing to society, and making a living doing it. People like you and Cho apparently want everything without earning it or sacrificing. What you do may not matter, but what I do does, and what 32 people at virginia tech did mattered. Stop excusing people like Cho and claiming he was frustrated. Of course he was frustrated, he was an idiot who couldn’t speak english after fifteen years of being in this country. He had no right to take anybodies life and you have no right to excuse or forgive him. Now go cut yourself while writing crappy poetry and listening to “my chemical romance.”

  • I just scoured the web for information and views on VT Massacre and found thousands of sites that either reflect on the tragedy of the event or delve into the psychology of the Cho Seung-Hui. I came to this site for a new and fresh view. To be honest, I’m totally disappointed in all of you. For the sensitive folks on this forum, please refer to the URL. It’s EvilBeet.com and its moniker states “gossip with an evil twist”. I suggest you honor the integrity of the site by embracing the sick and twisted humor of this event. My only complaint was the title wasn’t very funny or evil. Maybe it will help you get in the spirit of the site by remembering it was the work of many great Virginians that empowered us with the freedom of speech (and the ability to start such websites). In a way your sick jokes are homage to those who died at VT.

  • i think what that cho guy did was good, he killed dmany innocent people, but the teachers will be afraid to abuse the student in future. i read what he wrote, he said he is sacrificing himself for all the weak and helpless guys. and its true. first i thought he was a monster but after i read what he wrote i can see the benefit of what he did. you see in our world people only respect one thing — strength. if you are big and tall everyone respect you, if you are small everyone treats you like shit. cho showed that small guys can turn nasty if pushed too far, and that will make people afraid to pick on small guys, especially students. innocent people died, that’s unfortunate. but the same thing happens in a war, innocent die in order to correct some other evil. cho was kicked out of poetry and literature class for his writing, he was a shy guy so when he tried to hit on a couple girls in a somewhat clumsy way they ratted on him. society prepares the crime the criminal commits it.

  • Um…you think he was good in what he did? hmmm been raped in the @$$ by teachers much?

Heres my take on it. His intention was to seed a change in the way humans treat one another. The things he says, about being burned alive, having your throats slit and so on are a “crimes against humanity” thing. He was deeply affected as am I, about how humans can treat eachother so poorly. From picking on school losers to the ethnic cleansing of a country by its government or militia, people just shit on eachother way to much. His intention was to wake people up from crapping on one another to make themselves feel better. This is why he calls himself a martyr.

I think he thought that killing innocents as he called them was a way to send this message out. A way to capture the worlds attention as so many kids do now a days. He didnt realize that his message was warped and he was so upset he couldnt organize rational thoughts to get his message across, so the message will be missed by most. I in no way agree with what he did but somehow I understand the message that lays deeper in all his rambling. “STOP treating others so unkindly”. Treat them as your family. We are all one, all in this crazy world together. Its that simple.

    -THE FLAW-
In the end he became like the people he hates. He decided to try and change the world with blood and fear, instead of love. He did exactly what his enemies do. Teaching with fear as a tool may work sometimes but it can only change peoples actions not the way they think. If you teach with love and open ones eyes it will be a permenant change from the heart.
